Hi,

python-ecore is not installable on amd64 and i386 (and possibly others),

Package: libdbusada0.2-dev
Version: 0.2-1
Severity: serious

Violation of Debian Policy 10.2: the static version [of a library]
must not

be compiled with the -fPIC flag.

Please rearrange debian/rules and the .gpr files so that they recompile
the
object files in two different object directories: -fPIC for the shared
library
and no -fPIC for the static library. You may want to look at other
packages

for inspiration on how to do this.

Bug#622628: npm dependencies waiting to be reviewed/uploaded

2012-03-28 Thread Jérémy Lal
For npm-1.1.4, the last one is :
git://git.debian.org/collab-maint/node-which.git
(i asked David Paleino to take care of that one).

IMO the three other modules that are left are too bound to npm to be
packaged separatedly.

It would also be a good idea to upload npm 1.1.4 soon, as more recent
versions of npm are introducing new modules : the more we wait, the more
work is needed, the more we wait :)

Jérémy.

Bug#666057: libselinux1-dev: Removal of Provides: libselinux-dev breaks libfuse-dev

2012-03-28 Thread Colin Watson
Package: libselinux1-dev
Version: 2.1.9-3
Severity: grave

In libselinux 2.1.9-3, you removed the Provides: libselinux-dev from
libselinux1-dev. This may have been a mistake since it isn't explicitly
mentioned in the changelog. At any rate the result is that libfuse-dev
is now uninstallable in unstable, so I can no longer build grub2.
Please restore this Provides as soon as possible.

(This could also be fixed by libfuse-dev depending on libselinux1-dev
directly, so I've CCed the libfuse-dev maintainer; but it does seem a
bit abrupt to yank the Provides out from under its feet without so much
as a bug report.)

Thanks,

  Yep, once curl 7.25.0 is released and uploaded to unstable (as Julian said

 We should fix this through stable-security. Please send a debdiff once
 the fix has been testing in unstable for a few days.

Attached is the debdiff for stable-security. If everything's ok I will upload

Maybe we should consider packaging the last revision since php-apc is not
usable with php5.4.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'squeeze'.
It installed fine in 'squeeze', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
replaces relation.

See policy 7.6 at

Bug#666071: mpich2: In this version of mpich2, the mpd daemon (and other utilities) are missing.

2012-03-28 Thread alliot
Package: mpich2
Version: 1.4.1-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

The mpd (and mpdboot) programs are no longer in the mpich2 package, and
there is no dependancy (and no easy way) to know where they have gone,
making mpich2 unusable.

Thanks

Bug#627300: Why grave?

2012-03-28 Thread Andreas Ulm

Hi,

IMO it's grave because a main functionality of mysql is that you can
write your own my.cnf and run mysql with your user.
But because of this bug you can't use mytop while running mysql as your
user.

At my company each developer has his/her own mysql daemon running with
an own config and noone of them can use mytop due to this error.

Hi,

Why grave?
Mytop works fine for most users.
I'd suggest to downgrade this bug.

Bug#666074: TYPO3 Security Bulletin TYPO3-CORE-SA-2012-001: Several Vulnerabilities in TYPO3 Core

2012-03-28 Thread Christian Welzel
Package: typo3-src
Severity: critical
Tags: security

Component Type: TYPO3 Core

Affected Versions: 4.4.0 up to 4.4.13, 4.5.0 up to 4.5.13, 4.6.0 up to
4.6.6 and development releases of the 4.7 and 6.0 branch.
Vulnerability Types: Cross-Site Scripting, Information Disclosure,
Insecure Unserialize
Overall Severity: Medium
Release Date: March 28, 2012

Vulnerable subcomponent: Extbase Framework

Affected Versions: Versions 4.4.x and 4.5.x are NOT affected by this
vulnerabilty.
Vulnerability Type: Insecure Unserialize
Severity: Medium
Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N/E:U/RL:OF/RC:C

Problem Description: Due to a missing signature (HMAC) for a request
argument, an attacker could unserialize arbitrary objects within TYPO3.
To our knowledge it is neither possible to inject code through this
vulnerability, nor are there exploitable objects within the TYPO3 Core.
However, there might be exploitable objects within third party extensions.

Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 Backend

Vulnerability Type: Cross-Site Scripting
Severity: Medium
Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:M/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C

Problem Description: Failing to properly HTML-encode user input in
several places, the TYPO3 backend is susceptible to Cross-Site
Scripting. A valid backend user is required to exploit these
vulnerabilities.

IMPORTANT NOTE: With these TYPO3 versions the description field of the
filelink content element is HTML encoded by default. If you allowed
editors to enter HTML code in this field, you may want to add the
following line to your TypoScript template, before updating.

tt_content.uploads.20.itemRendering.20.2.htmlSpecialChars = 0

Allowing HTML in this field is discouraged for editors, same as allowing
the plain HTML content element.

Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 Command Line Interface

Vulnerability Type: Information Disclosure
Severity: Low
Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C

Problem Description: Accessing a CLI Script directly with a browser may
disclose the database name used for the TYPO3 installation.

Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 HTML Sanitizing API

Vulnerability Type: Cross-Site Scripting
Severity: Medium
Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C

Problem Description: By not removing non printable characters, the API
method t3lib_div::RemoveXSS() fails to filter specially crafted HTML
injections, thus is susceptible to Cross-Site Scripting.

Sounds more like severity: important

important:
a bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package, without
rendering it completely unusable to everyone.

Due to using grave, mytop has been removed from testing and is now
unusable by everyone... if it hasn't been installed already.

mpd is now deprecated. The default process manager in mpich2-1.4.x is
hydra. mpiexec -help should give you the usage instructions. Or you
can find them here.

It depends on whether you want to support seamless upgrades from
testing. If you don't want to do this, you may have to downgrade the
severity of this bug to not block the testing migration and should close
it manually once the fixed version has reached testing,

No problem, if it is not ready in a few days I'll blacklist the

Olaf had told me in personal communication, that he would provide more
information to the bug in order to enable me to reproduce it and to
investigate. He wanted to do this one month ago. Unfortunately, he
didn't yet. The bug is still as before: vague and unreproducible.

Please, Olaf, provide more information!

I really like to get rid of this RC bug. Especially, I like to be able
to decide how serious it is for the users. I can't yet, unless I put
lots of time into this (possibly not masqmail-concerning) issue.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install
(in 'squeeze'), remove (but not purge), distupgrade to 'wheezy',
and install again.
Before the second installation the package is in config-files-remaining
state. The configuration is remaining from the last version that was
successfully configured - which is from the previous release.

Like a plain failure on initial install this makes the package too buggy
for a release, thus the severity.

  N or O  : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : start a shell to examine the situation

Thanks,

Bug#665999: FTBFS on kfreebsd-*: procproperties.cpp:27:23: fatal error: asm/param.h: No such file or directory

2012-03-28 Thread Robert Millan
El 27 de març de 2012 19:39, Michael Biebl bi...@debian.org ha escrit:
 procproperties.cpp:27:23: fatal error: asm/param.h: No such file or directory

This program was building before. Why was asm/param.h dependency
added? Does it now rely on Linux-specific functionality, or is it
optional?

If this package is now Linux-specific, we have no choice. However, if
it's just an oversight, it's probably trivial to fix it.

Have a look at the rest of the file. Which code in it depends on that
header? Does something break if you remove it? Is this code
conditionalized (e.g. #ifdef __linux__)?

Also, I suggest you run git blame to find the commit that introduced
this regression, and see what other changes it made to the code.

2012-03-28 Thread Jeff Breidenbach
This report is valid. Having gone through a package rename with
Tesseract, I am a little bit scared to tackle this - it took me a half
dozen attempts to get it right.

Fortunately, users are not be suffering - bug #664175 was
addressed  through another mechanism.

Bottom line, it may take some time (months) for me to get the
courage to work on this. If someone is very excited about this
bug and can't wait, let's talk more.

Package: typo3-src
Severity: critical
Tags: security

Component Type: TYPO3 Core

Affected Versions: 4.4.0 up to 4.4.13, 4.5.0 up to 4.5.13, 4.6.0 up to
4.6.6 and development releases of the 4.7 and 6.0 branch.
Vulnerability Types: Cross-Site Scripting, Information Disclosure,
Insecure Unserialize
Overall Severity: Medium
Release Date: March 28, 2012

Vulnerable subcomponent: Extbase Framework

Affected Versions: Versions 4.4.x and 4.5.x are NOT affected by this
vulnerabilty.
Vulnerability Type: Insecure Unserialize
Severity: Medium
Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N/E:U/RL:OF/RC:C

Problem Description: Due to a missing signature (HMAC) for a request
argument, an attacker could unserialize arbitrary objects within TYPO3.
To our knowledge it is neither possible to inject code through this
vulnerability, nor are there exploitable objects within the TYPO3 Core.
However, there might be exploitable objects within third party extensions.

Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 Backend

Vulnerability Type: Cross-Site Scripting
Severity: Medium
Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:M/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C

Problem Description: Failing to properly HTML-encode user input in
several places, the TYPO3 backend is susceptible to Cross-Site
Scripting. A valid backend user is required to exploit these
vulnerabilities.

IMPORTANT NOTE: With these TYPO3 versions the description field of the
filelink content element is HTML encoded by default. If you allowed
editors to enter HTML code in this field, you may want to add the
following line to your TypoScript template, before updating.

tt_content.uploads.20.itemRendering.20.2.htmlSpecialChars = 0

Allowing HTML in this field is discouraged for editors, same as allowing
the plain HTML content element.

Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 Command Line Interface

Vulnerability Type: Information Disclosure
Severity: Low
Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C

Problem Description: Accessing a CLI Script directly with a browser may
disclose the database name used for the TYPO3 installation.

Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 HTML Sanitizing API

Vulnerability Type: Cross-Site Scripting
Severity: Medium
Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C

Problem Description: By not removing non printable characters, the API
method t3lib_div::RemoveXSS() fails to filter specially crafted HTML
injections, thus is susceptible to Cross-Site Scripting.

Hi,

r-cran-pscl version 1.3.10-1 is not installable in sid on amd64, since at
least May 18, 2011. The reason is that it depends on r-cran-gam which is
not available in sid.

No, it would not (on its own), because the out of date binaries would

Package: foomatic-filters
Version: 4.0.12-1
Severity: important

With 4.0.9-1 printing works. If I upgrade to the version in testing
(4.0.12-1) I can no longer print. The printing itself works from the
application view, I can see the printing jobs with lpq, but nothing is
output to the printer, the job just stays forever in lpq. I even let
my computer run over night to see if just some rendering was very
slow, but nothing, no print.

Same results with the version in sid (4.0.13-1). No printer output.
(Though I only tested in briefly with a simple plain file).

If I downgrade to 4.0.9-1, switch my printer off and again on, and
/etc/init.d/cups restart
then printing works again (tested with plain files only so far,
though).

For the record: printing with usb, downgrading cups, ghostscript etc.
did not help, printer worked for years, orginally with parallel, now
with usb port.

Do not hesitate to ask for more information or for me to run tests!

Nope. hurd-i386 isn't a release architecture, so a failure to build
that's specific to that architecture isn't release critical.

(Even if it were a release architecture, the package has never built
there, so the bug again wouldn't be release-critical.)

 This program was building before. Why was asm/param.h dependency
 added? Does it now rely on Linux-specific functionality, or is it
 optional?

http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-system-monitor/commit/?id=72546b7f3346fc0647a433529f3292050f15278f

 If this package is now Linux-specific, we have no choice. However, if
 it's just an oversight, it's probably trivial to fix it.

 Have a look at the rest of the file. Which code in it depends on that
 header? Does something break if you remove it? Is this code
 conditionalized (e.g. #ifdef __linux__)?

I don't run kfreebsd.

What would be great is a (build-)tested patch I can apply.

 If everything's ok I will upload it (I'm a DD since a few hours) in

Do you really think this option will actually be used in practice,
except if there's a failure?

Anyway, you can upload to security-master when ready. You must build
the package with specifying the -sa flag, on a squeeze system.

Hi,

I noticed there's an #ifdef linux in the file that introduced the
asm/param.h include. So if there is anything Linux-specific in that
file it probably wasn't intended:

 +#ifdef __linux__
 + memwritable += maps[i].private_dirty;
 +#else
 + if (maps[i].perm  GLIBTOP_MAP_PERM_WRITE)
 + memwritable += maps[i].size;

I would try a test build of this myself (and lots of other stuff) on
kFreeBSD and Linux when my new toy arrives...

Bug#656040: [Pkg-ace-devel] Bug#656040: root source of problem found

2012-03-28 Thread Thomas Girard

Hello,

Thanks for your report, and sorry for the late reply.

On 18/01/2012 04:14, Ken Gregson wrote:

I believe I discovered the root cause after downloading and building ACE
and TAO libraries from the upstream sources, an experience that has
caused me to appreciate Even More the work of Debian ACE+TAO
maintainers. In the process, I discovered another minor issue identified
at the bottom of this update.

First, forgot to mention in the initial report (should that matter)
Debian version: Wheezy(testing)
Debian arch: amd64

The problem is actually with package libnetsvcs-6.0.1 rather than
ace-netsvcs as initially reported.
This package should install a symlink to the library installed in
/usr/lib from libnetsvcs.so to libnetsvcs-6.0.1.so.

You'll get that symlink if you install libnetsvcs-dev package, see:
  http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/amd64/libnetsvcs-dev/filelist

Or have the server.conf look like:
  dynamic Logger Service_Object * ACE:_make_ACE_Logging_Strategy() -s
foobar -f STDERR|OSTREAM|VERBOSE
  dynamic Server_Logging_Service Service_Object *
libnetsvcs-6.0.1.so:_make_ACE_Server_Logging_Acceptor() active -p 20009

I see different options here:
 1 document this in a README as you suggest
 2 change ace_netsvcs so that it somehow replaces netsvcs string with
   libnetsvcs-6.0.1.so before proceeding to the loading
 3 change ACE shared library loading to teach it how to load its own
   libraries using SONAME rather than short name
 4 make ace-netsvcs package recommend (or even depend) on libnetsvc-dev

Any opinion on this?

[...]

The other minor additional configuration issue I discovered is that
package libkokyu-dev doesn't depend on libkokyu-6.0.1 (although all the
other {ACE|TAO} -dev packages do depend on their underlying base library).

libkokyu-dev 6.0.1-1 does depend on libkokyu-6.0.1 according to:
  http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/libkokyu-dev

Thanks,
Regards,

Thomas

Well, it built successfully cause openmpi was just crashing/not

 See the build log at
 https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=mpqcarch=armelver=2.3.1-14stamp=1332702986

The runtime of that test is 0.05 seconds on my T400 on amd64, so it
seems to be a more general problem with openmpi on arm. Indeed if I
extract the -13 .debs and set LD_LIBRARY_PATH, mpqc spins at 100%
without output. Even if I just run /usr/bin/ompi-ps without arguments,
it eats 100% cpu and spins at sched_yield() forever accordings to
strace:

setsockopt(7, SOL_TCP, TCP_NODELAY, [1], 4) = 0

Bug#665999: #define HZ, libgtop and time accounting

Michael Biebl bi...@debian.org writes:
 Source: gnome-system-monitor

 procproperties.cpp:27:23: fatal error: asm/param.h: No such file or directory

Needed for the HZ macro.

Reading why this would be needed, diving into libgtop. This is basically
for reading the rtime field of glibtop_proc_time which is filled on
linux by reading from /proc/stat

/* clock_t  (1/100 s) */
buf-utime  = strtoull (p, p, 0);
buf-stime  = strtoull (p, p, 0);
buf-rtime = buf-utime + buf-stime;

So seemingly non-normalized values

but on freebsd  with

pinfo = kvm_getprocs (server-machine.kd, KERN_PROC_PID, pid, count);
if ((pinfo == NULL) || (count != 1)) {
glibtop_warn_io_r (server, kvm_getprocs (%d), pid);
glibtop_suid_leave (server);
return;
}

glibtop_suid_leave (server);

buf-rtime = pinfo [0].ki_runtime * 1e-6;

len = sizeof (ci);
if (sysctlbyname (kern.clockrate, ci, len, NULL, 0)) {
glibtop_warn_io_r (server, sysctl (kern.clockrate) (%d), pid);
glibtop_suid_leave (server);
return;
}

buf-frequency = (ci.stathz ? ci.stathz : ci.hz);
buf-flags = _glibtop_sysdeps_proc_time;

buf-rtime *= buf-frequency;

where kvm_getprocs is, according to [0], returning the value in
microsecs which is then normalized away with * 1e-6 and then again
multiplied by sysctl kernel.clockrate field stathz

kern.clockrate: { hz = 1000, tick = 1000, profhz = 8128, stathz = 127 }

so 127.

Please everyone recheck my math here, it's nearly 1 am in the morning
here ;-)

/dev/cpu$something nodes. So no noeed for anything on kfreebsd at all?

Bug#665792: marked as done (Source package contains non-free IETF RFC/I-D)

2012-03-28 Thread Debian Bug Tracking System

Severity: serious
Package: texlive-bin
Version: 2011.20120322-1
User: debian-rele...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: nonfree-doc rfc

Hi!

This source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

texlive-bin-2011.20120322/libs/zlib/zlib-1.2.6/doc/rfc1951.txt
texlive-bin-2011.20120322/libs/zlib/zlib-1.2.6/doc/rfc1950.txt
texlive-bin-2011.20120322/libs/zlib/zlib-1.2.6/doc/rfc1952.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:

 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments
 * http://bugs.debian.org/199810

According to the squeeze/wheezy release policy, source packages must be
DFSG-free, see:

 * http://release.debian.org/squeeze/rc_policy.txt
 * http://release.debian.org/wheezy/rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:

 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
   license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
   the upstream archive and adding 'dfsg' to the Debian package
   version name.

3. Move the package to non-free.

General discussions are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal
or debian-devel in the thread with Subject: Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in
source packages.

Thanks,
Simon

Bug#666144: libmecab2 and libmecab1: error when trying to install together

2012-03-28 Thread Ralf Treinen
Package: libmecab1,libmecab2
Version: libmecab1/0.98-1
Version: libmecab2/0.99.3-1
Severity: serious
User: trei...@debian.org
Usertags: edos-file-overwrite

Architecture: amd64
Distribution: sid

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!
  libmecab1 libmecab2
Authentication warning overridden.
Can not write log, openpty() failed (/dev/pts not mounted?)
Selecting previously unselected package libmecab1.
(Reading database ... 10571 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking libmecab1 (from .../libmecab1_0.98-1_amd64.deb) ...
Selecting previously unselected package libmecab2.
Unpacking libmecab2 (from .../libmecab2_0.99.3-1_amd64.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libmecab2_0.99.3-1_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
 trying to overwrite '/etc/mecabrc', which is also in package libmecab1 0.98-1
configured to not write apport reports
dpkg-deb: error: subprocess paste was killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libmecab2_0.99.3-1_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /etc/mecabrc

-Ralf.

of this kind see http://edos.debian.net/file-overwrites/.

 I've prepared an NMU for scute (versioned as 1.4.0-1.1). The diff

Thanks a lot. I incorporated your changes and uploaded it.
