Of course. I've just uploaded a bc-less solution that make/SHELL should be able
to handle.

Best regards,

Package: oss4-base
Version: 4.2-build2007-1+nmu1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I just upgraded to 4.2-build2007-1+nmu1 from 4.2-build2007-1.
Now playing audio in MPlayer has all kinds of clicking sounds heard in the
audio output.
Audio output was fine in the same files played before this.
It seems to me that some change in this most recent version is causing audio
output or mixing to be performed improperly.

I've done tests with gdb, and the problem occurs at

xmlParseDocument( ctxt->data.saxParserCtxt );

in src/backend/xml/sixtp.c line 709 (sixtp_parse_file_common).
It comes from a known bug in libxml2, discussed here:

  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=877567

It is fixed upstream. I could check with xmllint on the compressed
file that this is the same bug:

$ xmllint test.gnucash
test.gnucash:222630: parser error : expected '>'
  data.saxParserCtxt = xml_context;
(gdb)
706 ctxt->data.saxParserCtxt->sax = &ctxt->handler;
(gdb)
707 ctxt->data.saxParserCtxt->userData = &ctxt->data;
(gdb)
708 ctxt->data.bad_xml_parser =
sixtp_dom_parser_new(gnc_bad_xml_end_handler, NULL, NULL);
(gdb)
709 xmlParseDocument( ctxt->data.saxParserCtxt );
(gdb)

(gdb)

Bug#694888: openjdk-7-jre-headless: prompting due to modified conffiles which were not modified by the user: /etc/java-7-openjdk/jvm-amd64.cfg

2012-12-18 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Followup-For: Bug #694888

reassign 694888 ca-certificates-java 20121112+nmu1
forcemerge 694888 694889
retitle 694888 ca-certificates-java: early triggered jks-keystore may fail and
leave the temporary /etc/java-7-openjdk/jvm-$arch.cfg
affects 694888 + openjdk-7-jre-headless openjdk-7-source
thanks

easy to reproduce: in a minimal pbuilder sid environment run

  apt-get install openjdk-7-source

Problem summary:
/etc/ca-certificates/update.d/jks-keystore fails because
/etc/java-7-openjdk/security/nss.cfg does not (yet) exist
(sed exits with 2 on the missing file)
As a result the temporary /etc/java-7-openjdk/jvm-amd64.cfg does not
get removed causing the following setup of
openjdk-7-jre-headless:amd64 to fail (by asking a useless question).

Package: libffindex0
Version: 0.9.9-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

At least on i386, the shlib symlink doesn't end with version number:

$ dpkg -c libffindex0_0.9.9-1_i386.deb | grep -F .so.
-rw-r--r-- root/root 17920 2012-12-16 16:32 ./usr/lib/libffindex.so.1.0.1
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2012-12-16 16:32 ./usr/lib/libffindex.so. ->
libffindex.so.1.0.1

Perhaps it has something to do with this build-time[0] error:

/bin/sh: 1: bc: not found

Bug#693147: Fwd: heise online: StatusNet transforms into Node.js-driven pump.io

2012-12-18 Thread Stephen Michael Kellat
This appears to weaken the case for keeping the package as-is as the
off-label use option relative to StatusNet is likely to decline in
usability as we head into 2013 and Evan Prodromou's crew starts
diverging away from a Twitter-like API.

StatusNet transforms into Node.js-driven pump.io

Evan Prodromou, the founder of status.net[1], has announced that the company is
closing down its microblog hosting service and is migrating active accounts to
its new pump.io[2] service while archiving unused ones. The status.net company
will also rebrand under the name e14n[3] to reflect the fact that it is
offering more than just one product.

The company has now stopped development on its open source Status.Net software.
That software started life as a Twitter clone, unlike the new pump.io platform
is more of a general purpose messaging server than a microblogging system. As
Prodromou said[4] on identi.ca[5], "I think it's more like postfix, ircd, or
jabberd. A server for sending and receiving stuff in particular ways."

The identi.ca service itself will, much like the other free-of-charge and
commercial accounts run by the company, eventually be folded into the new
pump.io platform. However, Prodromou says that this will not happen until other
public instances are up and running on the new service that users can use. He
announced this "So, y'know, don't freak out", he told identi.ca's user
community. He also expressed sadness over leaving the status.net domain behind
and thanked the employees who kept the infrastructure running.

In contrast to the AGPL licensed StatusNet which is written in PHP, pump.io is
using JavaScript with the Node.js framework and is licensed under the Apache
2.0 License. The software is currently at version 0.1, version 0.2 is in
development and will include a web front-end that works with the messaging
server. Source code[6] for the pump.io software is available on GitHub.

Bug#696282: gnucash silently removes the scheduled transactions under some condition

2012-12-18 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Some additional information... If I open an uncompressed version of

the scheduled transactions appear in the scheduled transactions

This seems to be always reproducible. The "I/O appears" just after

Bug#696285: libffindex0: broken SONAME

2012-12-18 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: libffindex0
Version: 0.9.9-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

At least on i386, the shlib symlink doesn't end with version number:

$ dpkg -c libffindex0_0.9.9-1_i386.deb | grep -F .so.
-rw-r--r-- root/root 17920 2012-12-16 16:32 ./usr/lib/libffindex.so.1.0.1
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2012-12-16 16:32 ./usr/lib/libffindex.so. ->
libffindex.so.1.0.1

Perhaps it has something to do with this build-time[0] error:

/bin/sh: 1: bc: not found

No, it removes the "scheduled transactions" that can be seen in the
"scheduled transactions editor" (the recurrence, the template...).
In the XML file, the following elements are removed (with their
contents):
  gnc:template-transactions
  gnc:schedxaction

You can see the details in the diff file attached to the bug report.

What? The epoch number bump was certainly not required.
Only a recompilation of 0.2.2 against libnl1 while dropping the Breaks
against libvirt.

Well, damage is done, now unfortunately.

I agree that this is less than ideal and will upload a new version as
soon as a suitable one is released.

The current upload is intended as a stop-gap to avoid the complete
removal from Wheezy, which would have necessitated changes to the MPI
packages and made future support harder. As it stands userspace fails
gracefully and it's simple enough to slot working kernelspace support
back in as/when.

Did you try to start it on a machine with more memory? It starts fine in my
tests.

Bug#696282: gnucash silently removes the scheduled transactions under some condition

2012-12-18 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: gnucash
Version: 1:2.4.10-5
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Gnucash silently removed the scheduled transactions. I noticed this
with a diff of the XML file while checking a backup (I usually check
like that whether applications corrupt my data), and could find when
this occurred in the automatic backups. I've attached the compressed
diff, where I've changed some characters to 'x' for privacy reasons.
I could see nothing in the .log files about removed scheduled
transactions.

If I try to revert to the last version with these scheduled
transactions (comptes-vl.gnc.20121216193600.gnucash), do some
change, save and quit, then the scheduled transactions are removed
again. Ditto from other previous ones:
  comptes-vl.gnc.20121216011739.gnucash
  comptes-vl.gnc.20121216011628.gnucash
but not from:
  comptes-vl.gnc.20121216011605.gnucash

Now, what's the difference between comptes-vl.gnc.20121216011605.gnucash
and comptes-vl.gnc.20121216011628.gnucash? There are 3 additional
transactions (I don't think they matter), but also I added a note
to some account. The diff looks like that:

dh-exec is not available in stable (squeeze), so there is no reason to expect

It builds fine in wheezy and sid (tested with pbuilder).

Version: 1.0.1-3
Severity: serious

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package modifies conffiles.
This is forbidden by the policy, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s-config-files

10.7.3: "[...] The easy way to achieve this behavior is to make the
configuration file a conffile. [...] This implies that the default
version will be part of the package distribution, and must not be
modified by the maintainer scripts during installation (or at any
other time)."

Note that once a package ships a modified version of that conffile,
dpkg will prompt the user for an action how to handle the upgrade of
this modified conffile (that was not modified by the user).

Further in 10.7.3: "[...] must not ask unnecessary questions
(particularly during upgrades) [...]"

If a configuration file is customized by a maintainer script after
having asked some debconf questions, it may not be marked as a
conffile. Instead a template could be installed in /usr/share and used
by the postinst script to fill in the custom values and create (or
update) the configuration file (preserving any user modifications!).
This file must be removed during postrm purge.
ucf(1) may help with these tasks.
See also http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling

In https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/09/msg00412.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

debsums reports modification of the following files,
from the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

  /etc/pear/pear.conf

cheers,

Andreas

Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) id was
published for ruby1.9. Note this was fixed in 1.9.1, and it isn't
really clear whether it affects 1.9. I can't find enough info to say
either way.  Please check.

CVE-2009-4124[0]:
| Heap-based buffer overflow in the rb_str_justify function in string.c
| in Ruby 1.9.1 before 1.9.1-p376 allows context-dependent attackers to

tomcat5.5 should have alternate depends on java2-compiler instead of
java2-runtime as JDK is required for running a tomcat instance.

Installing tomcat5.5 without package that provides java2-compiler seems
to cause problems described in
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tomcat5.5/+bug/179447.

Yeah, for simpler use-cases, especially the single-user-laptop case,
this .pkla file is sufficient and should solve the problem for most users.

This bug, #642136, will deal with that problem.

Joss found a way to do just that, i.e. query polkit and automatically
fall back to user settings if
org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.system would require an
admin password prompt. I think this is the ideal solution, so I'd like
to go with that, especially since Joss already has prepared a patch for
nm-applet [1]. Thanks a lot Joss!

Other NM clients which need to be updated accordingly are gnome-shell
and gnome-control-center, which both allow to setup NM connections. So
I'm cloning and re-assigning this bug accordingly.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install. As
per definition of the release team this makes the package too buggy for
a release, thus the severity.

Bug#638339: blcr-0.8.4-3 STILL boes not build/work with Linux 2.6.39 or later

2012-12-18 Thread Paul Hargrove
With all due respect to Alan, removing the blcr-dkms package from the build
is *not* a fix for the reported problem
"blcr: Does not build/work with Linux 2.6.39 or later".

With the removal of the kernel module, the user space utilities in the
blcr-util package still all fail with recent kernels, since they require
the kernel module to function:

$ cr_checkpoint 0
Checkpoint failed: support missing from kernel

As announced in November on the BLCR mailing list [
https://hpcrdm.lbl.gov/pipermail/checkpoint/2012-November/000526.html], I
am working toward of goal of BLCR support for all current Linux kernel
versions by the end of this year. In fact, I am expecting a Beta release
of blcr-0.8.5 later this week, for testing.

-Paul
