Bug#708111: libgd2-xpm-dev, libgd2-noxpm-dev: copyright file missing after upgrade (policy 12.5)

2013-05-25 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Followup-For: Bug #708111

Hi Ondrej,

libgd2-noxpm-dev is still broken, the DOCDIR in postinst is wrong,
points to /usr/share/doc/libgd2-xpm-dev - copy+paste error :-)

I don't think you need any maintainer script code to change the symlink
from libgd2-dev to libgd-dev - dpkg will replace a symlink by another
symlink.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package starts processes
where it shouldn't. This is very probably due to not using invoke-rc.d
as mandated by policy 9.3.3.2. This is seriously disturbing! ;-)

Bug#666822: Apache 2.4 upload date scheduled for May 30; mod_perl needs work

(Some suffix after 2.0.8+httpd24 might make sense nevertheless.)

svn merge didn't complain, so that sould be ok, I guess.
(This should also make the 270_*hash* patch obsolete; at least it
 doesn't apply anymore.)

Nice it was that easy. For some reason I thought 'svn merge' wouldn't
work at all without write access to the upstream repo. Luckily SVN isn't
_that_ centralized :)

On Fri, May 24, 2013 at 11:33:22PM +0300, Damyan Ivanov wrote:

I started in the other direction -- from the current 2.0.8 package,
picking commits from upstream's httpd24 branch, until the build
succeeded. The result is a series of patches, with which the
compilation seems to succeed. I couldn't make the tests really start
 to run.

Thank you both!

I'm not quite sure which approach is better. Just doing an 'svn merge'
and a fake upstream tarball is less work for us, but Damyan's way makes
it clearer what code we're distributing.

Maybe go ahead with separate patches for now? At least as long as that
scales. We could still switch to a fake upstream merged tarball later
if it feels necessary.

Hm, mental note: we should definitely credit Jan Kaluza in our changelog
as the one who ported the upstream code to Apache 2.4.

Perhaps a less naive approach would be to really merge the http24
upstream branch, for example by importing every revision as a quilt
patch (28 in total, if my git-svn copy is right).

It's even more work but yes, I think I'd prefer having all the httpd24
commits in rather than just the 'obligatory ones'.

I just pushed a ntyni/httpd24 branch to the git repo. I think it should
be rebased onto whichever solution we choose for the upstream merge.
If somebody can look at that, please do. I expect not to have much time
for this today.

I haven't really tested the resulting packages other than installing
them. The dependencies look good to me.

There is an incompatibility with the wheezy version that we need to
address somehow. remote_ip and remote_port request methods are
renamed to client_ip and client_port. Perhaps small wrappers
providing the old methods for jessie? Another approach would be to
just document the change in NEWS.Debian.

Seems like a minor detail right now :) Perhaps just file a bug
and discuss the best solution upstream ? Or is this clearly breaking
something?

Bug#709757: Depends on libjdic-java

2013-05-25 Thread Frank Lichtenheld
Package: paros
Version: 3.2.13-7
Severity: serious

This package depends on libjdic-java which is a prime canidate for
removal from the archive (RC buggy and orphaned).

Either libjdic-java needs to be fixed or this package will
need to be removed from the archive.

Cheers,
  Frank

Bug#709761: libsnmp-perl: unhandled symlink to directory conversion: /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE

2013-05-25 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: libsnmp-perl
Version: 5.7.2~dfsg-7
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts
Control: affects -1 + netdisco-frontend tkmib

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  wheezy - sid

For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both
packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are
upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets
removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too,
including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen.

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

For switching from a symlink to a directory, the *preinst* script
should do something like this:

DOCDIR=/usr/share/doc/@@PACKAGE@@

if [ -L $DOCDIR ]; then
rm $DOCDIR
fi

From the attached log (usually somewhere in the middle...):

0m45.4s INFO: dirname part contains a symlink:

mplayer doesn't have an openssl dependency and AFAICS doesn't use the

package.

Please could you run which mplayer and ldd $(which mplayer) and

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'testing'.
It installed fine in 'testing', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

The following packages will be DOWNGRADED:
openoffice.org-thesaurus-en-au
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 downgraded, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

After this operation, 88.1 kB disk space will be freed.
E: There are problems and -y was used without --force-yes

Hmm,

Looks like the transitional package needs to get the version munged to
add an appropriate epoch to ensure smooth upgrades from wheezy.
*Only the transitional package* needs an epoch, don't add it to the
openoffice.org-en-au source package! (Hint: dpkg-gencontrol takes a -v
option, can also be passed via dh_gencontrol)

Or if that was already a transitional package in wheezy, it could be
dropped for jessie (and mythes-en-au could
  Conflicts/Replaces: openoffice.org-thesaurus-en-au
to get rid of the transitional if it is still installed somewhere).

Bug#708806: Can't reproduce

2013-05-25 Thread Daniel Espinosa
I'm trying to reproduce this bug, but I can't.

I'm using a Debian 7 virtual box, download libgda from git, checked out
branch and tag for 5.0.3 version, but build works with --enable-gda-gi
switch. No build problems.

How can I get same environment?

Have you try with development version 5.0.4 from git repository? Or you
just can work with tarballs?

This looks like a good candidate. What happens if you move this local

I've confirmed that the equivalent check on a wheezy install here does
include librtmp.so.0 but does not feature any references to any version
of libssl.

Yes. That was causing the problem. It seems that after I upgraded to
Wheezy I forgot to recompile my local copy of librtmp.

Which version are you trying to install? -7 no longer has a conflicts,

It's with -7. aptitude output is as follows:

Ah, I see. This is a side-effect of the fact that hplip hasn't been
rebuilt against libsnmp30 yet. This will sort itself out as the
transition progresses, but in the meantime keeping the old version of
the net-snmp packages installed would be the right thing to do in this
case.

Unfortunately this sort of thing will happen sometimes in unstable,
particularly for packages involved in a transition.

No it doesn't : I was not using Clearlooks-Phénix.
I've the same problem with Faience-Ocre or Zukini GTK themes.
I think the issue is caused by a lot of themes.

Bug#709773: Wrong handling of debconf

2013-05-25 Thread Charles Plessy
Le Sat, May 25, 2013 at 06:31:35PM +0800, Thomas Goirand a écrit :
 Package: cloud-init
 Version: 0.7.1-3
 Severity: serious

Cloud-init has a debconf thing to handle which type of API should be
supported. Though it is done wrong:

 1/ Preseeding doesn't work
2/ If /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/90_dpkg.cfg exists, then the currently
configured avlue doesn't seem to be read in the config script.

Hi Thomas,

this might (or might not) be solved already in Ubuntu's package, which is ahead
(0.7.2~bzr809). Now that upstream version 0.7.2 is out, we can probably
attempt to merge changes related to debconf from Ubuntu.

I have done the boring part (updated debian/copyright after finding three new
copyright notices and one new license), so if you or somebody else want to work
on an update to 0.7.2 that would solve this bug and #709173, please go ahead,
the road is clear.

(But I need to add that on my system, the package builds only with sudo, not
with fakeroot)

Have a nice week-end,

Hi,

Upstream just released a new version, fixing a privilege escalation,
allowing anyone to take control of the website.

I’m on my way to prepare the four needed packages (for squeeze, wheezy,
sid and experimental), and will open a ticket for the first two ASAP.

Hi,

Upstream just released a new version, fixing a privilege escalation,
allowing anyone to take control of the website.

I’m on my way to prepare the four needed packages (for squeeze, wheezy,
sid and experimental), and will open a ticket for the first two ASAP.

Regards

David

Bug#709773: Wrong handling of debconf

2013-05-25 Thread Thomas Goirand
On 05/25/2013 09:41 PM, Charles Plessy wrote:
 Le Sat, May 25, 2013 at 06:31:35PM +0800, Thomas Goirand a écrit :
 Package: cloud-init
 Version: 0.7.1-3
 Severity: serious

Cloud-init has a debconf thing to handle which type of API should be
supported. Though it is done wrong:

 1/ Preseeding doesn't work
2/ If /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/90_dpkg.cfg exists, then the currently
configured avlue doesn't seem to be read in the config script.

 Hi Thomas,

this might (or might not) be solved already in Ubuntu's package, which is
 ahead
(0.7.2~bzr809). Now that upstream version 0.7.2 is out, we can probably
attempt to merge changes related to debconf from Ubuntu.

I have just checked, and the config and postinst script from the Ubuntu
package didn't change between 0.7.1 and 0.7.2~bzr809. So no, it's not fixed.

By the way, while I'm sure preseeding didn't work, I'm not sure about
point 2/ above. I just found the debian/cloud-init.config script very
suspicious. Normally, in such script, we would:

1/ Check if the config file is there. If it is, then:
2/ get the configured value, and set it with db_set.
3/ Do the db_input + db_go

But in this script, I can read (simplified the logic):

db_get cloud-init/datasources
case ${RET}, in
  *\ Ec2,*) :;;
  *) hasEc2Md
db_set cloud-init/datasources ${def:+${def}, }Ec2;;

This doesn't seem right, and looks like a using debconf as registry
type of bug to me.

Your thoughts here?

I have done the boring part (updated debian/copyright after finding three new
copyright notices and one new license), so if you or somebody else want to
 work
on an update to 0.7.2 that would solve this bug and #709173, please go ahead,
 the road is clear.

Thanks for this.

Also, I'm hitting another problem. I haven't reported it (yet) because
I'm not sure if the problem is on my setup or otherwise.

While the GROWPART in the cloud-initramfs-growroot works (after I
somehow fixed it), the resize2fs resize from cloud-init doesn't work for
me using OpenStack. Here's cloud-init output:

util.py[WARNING]: Failed to resize filesystem (cmd=['resize2fs',
'/run/cloudinit.resizefs.nEQ1UK'])
util.py[WARNING]: Running resizefs (module
'cloudinit.config.cc_resizefs' from
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/cloudinit/config/cc_resizefs.pyc') failed

This is quite annoying me, because that's the last bit which I need to
fix in order to finish my work on the Debian OpenStack cloud image
(which otherwise work quite well!). Any help would be really appreciated.

Also, I wonder, how does cloud-init do for resizing the root filesystem,
since when cloud-init start, the rootfs is already mounted read/write?
Shouldn't this happen in the initrd like with GROWPART rather than in
the boot process?

Cheers,

Thomas Goirand (zigo)

Bug#709808: [grub-pc] boot failure after updaing to 2.00-14: error: file not found - rescue console

2013-05-25 Thread Steiner David
Package: grub-pc
Version: 2.00-14
Severity: critical

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

upgraded all my packages after the freeze and grub doesn't boot anymore.
the error message is error: file not found and then it drops into the grub
rescue console.

i fixed it by chrooting via a live cd and running dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc
(telling it to install to /dev/sda and /dev/sdb). works fine since then.

my hard drives are setup like this:
/dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1 - 500 MB /boot partition with software RAID1
/dev/sda5 and /dev/sdb5 - root partition with software RAID1

further / has luks encryption and after that LVM with one PV for / (all setup
with the debian installer)

let me know if you need more info. here's what i found from the log files
before upgrading grub:

Bug#666822: Apache 2.4 upload date scheduled for May 30; mod_perl needs work

svn merge didn't complain, so that sould be ok, I guess.

Nice it was that easy. For some reason I thought 'svn merge' wouldn't
work at all without write access to the upstream repo. Luckily SVN isn't
 _that_ centralized :)

Yeah, I was also pleasantly surprised that it was so easy :)

I couldn't make the tests really start
  to run.

I'm also fine with this approach if someone wants to pick the
commits.

Hm, mental note: we should definitely credit Jan Kaluza in our changelog
as the one who ported the upstream code to Apache 2.4.

Ack.

Same for my gregoa/httpd24 branch (which I pushed earlier today,
before seeing this mail).

Dam, in case you have the commits ready, you could take debian/ from
my branch (which should incorporate Niko's work) and go on from
there.

Cheers,
gregor

 Hi Ondrej,

libgd2-noxpm-dev is still broken, the DOCDIR in postinst is wrong,

I don't think you need any maintainer script code to change the symlink

Package: dotclear
Version: 2.4.2+dfsg-2
Severity: important

I installed dotclear from sid on a Squeeze box,
configured my web server and PHP runner,
tried to connect to the admin interface ($BLOG_URL/admin/) and failed.
I'm sorry, I don't remember the exact failure symptoms.

For every such attempt, my PHP error log contains:

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'Table
'dotclear.dc_pref' doesn't exist (1146)' in
/usr/share/dotclear/web/inc/libs/clearbricks/dblayer/class.mysql.php:105\nStack

on line 105

As suggested [1] on the dotclear forum by someone who experienced the
same problem, I created the missing dc_pref table with the SQL
instructions provided by comment #2 on that forum post. This was
enough to allow me to connect to the dotclear admin interface.

Bug#709817: libavcodec54: uninstallable due to Depends on libx264-129

2013-05-25 Thread Alessandro Ghedini
Package: libavcodec54
Version: 6:9.6-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

when trying to install libavcodec54 from experimental:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libavcodec54 : Depends: libx264-129 which is a virtual package.

This causes e.g. mplayer2 from experimental to FTBFS.

Cheers

Bug#709836: Multiple security issues

2013-05-25 Thread Dominic Hargreaves
Source: request-tracker4
Version: 4.0.12-1
Severity: serious
Justification: security

See attached advisory.

Dominic Hargreaves | http://www.larted.org.uk/~dom/

---BeginMessage---
We discovered a number of security vulnerabilities which affect both RT
3.8.x and RT 4.0.x. We are releasing RT versions 3.8.17 and 4.0.13 to
resolve these vulnerabilities, as well as patches which apply atop all
released versions of 3.8 and 4.0.

The vulnerabilities addressed by 3.8.17, 4.0.13, and the below patches
include the following:

RT 4.0.0 and above are vulnerable to a limited privilege escalation
leading to unauthorized modification of ticket data. The DeleteTicket
right and any custom lifecycle transition rights may be bypassed by any
user with ModifyTicket. This vulnerability is assigned CVE-2012-4733.

RT 3.8.0 and above include a version of bin/rt that uses
semi-predictable names when creating tempfiles. This could possibly be
exploited by a malicious user to overwrite files with permissions of the
user running bin/rt. This vulnerability is assigned CVE-2013-3368.

RT 3.8.0 and above allow calling of arbitrary Mason components (without
control of arguments) for users who can see administration pages. This
could be used by a malicious user to run private components which may
have negative side-effects. This vulnerability is assigned
CVE-2013-3369.

RT 3.8.0 and above allow direct requests to private callback components.
Though no callback components ship with RT, this could be used to
exploit an extension or local callback which uses the arguments passed
to it insecurely. This vulnerability is assigned CVE-2013-3370.

RT 3.8.3 and above are vulnerable to cross-site scripting (XSS) via
attachment filenames. The vector is difficult to exploit due to parsing
requirements. Additionally, RT 4.0.0 and above are vulnerable to XSS
via maliciously-crafted URLs in ticket content when RT's MakeClicky
feature is configured. Although not believed to be exploitable in the
stock configuration, a patch is also included for RTIR 2.6.x to add
bulletproofing. These vulnerabilities are assigned CVE-2013-3371.

RT 3.8.0 and above are vulnerable to an HTTP header injection limited to
the value of the Content-Disposition header. Injection of other
arbitrary response headers is not possible. Some (especially older)
browsers may allow multiple Content-Disposition values which could lead
to XSS. Newer browsers contain security measures to prevent this.
Thank you to Dominic Hargreaves for reporting this vulnerability. This
vulnerability is assigned CVE-2013-3372.

RT 3.8.0 and above are vulnerable to a MIME header injection in outgoing
email generated by RT. The vectors via RT's stock templates are
resolved by this patchset, but any custom email templates should be
updated to ensure that values interpolated into mail headers do not
contain newlines. This vulnerability is assigned CVE-2013-3373.

RT 3.8.0 and above are vulnerable to limited session re-use when using
the file-based session store, Apache::Session::File.  RT's default
session configuration only uses Apache::Session::File for Oracle. RT
instances using Oracle may be locally configured to use the
database-backed Apache::Session::Oracle, in which case sessions are
never re-used. The extent of session re-use is limited to information
leaks of certain user preferences and caches, such as queue names
available for ticket creation. Thank you to Jenny Martin for reporting
the problem that lead to discovery of this vulnerability. This
vulnerability is assigned CVE-2013-3374.

Patches for all releases of 3.8.x and 4.0.x are available for download
below. Versions of RT older than 3.8.0 are unsupported and do not
receive security patches; please contact sa...@bestpractical.com if you
need assistance with an older RT version.

Well, I guess, then it makes sense to assign the bug back to gtk package.

Hello,

Since version 1.28-12, wdm is calling the pam_selinux pam module
(bug #664809).

The problem is that pam_selinux is only available on linux
architectures. As you made the pam_selinux module required in the pam
configuration, this could prevent the user to login on !linux
architectures.

You should change this to something like:
[success=ok ignore=ignore module_unknown=ignore default=bad]

Cheers

Laurent Bigonville

Version: 2.7-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package (mostly) unusable
Tags: patch

jinja2_2.7-1 dropped support for Python 3.2, but this still the default
version of Python 3. This breaks python3-sphinx, and makes at least 4
packages that build-depend on it FTBFS.

As I understand it, the only 3.3-specific feature jinja2 uses is u''
literals. Fortunately, you can convert from u'' back to '' by using 2to3
cleverly. Patch attached.

Bug#709841: iceweasel: spurious out of memory + crash (segmentation fault)

2013-05-25 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: iceweasel
Version: 21.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

(due to lost temporary data in some tabs)

I use Iceweasel with ulimit -v 3276800, otherwise it sometimes makes
the system freeze for several minutes due to swapping.

Iceweasel crashed with:

out of memory
zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped) firefox

while according to a running htop, it was taking around 1.9 GB, i.e.
far less than the 3.2 GB limit! Well, unless it suddenly wanted more
than 1.3 GB (for what reason???) and could not handle the failure.

Here's the whole terminal output:

(process:18173): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion `sys_page_size
== 0' failed
error: acr: An exception occurred.

Bug#709841: iceweasel: spurious out of memory + crash (segmentation fault)

GPG data is currently stored in /var/cache/request-tracker4, but this is

Since this doesn't affect Wheezy, I don't plan to NMU.

Bug#709850: nagios3-cgi: postinst uses /usr/share/doc content (Policy 12.3)

2013-05-25 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: nagios3-cgi
Version: 3.4.1-3
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

a test with piuparts revealed that your package uses files from
/usr/share/doc in its maintainer scripts which is a violation of
Policy 12.3: Packages must not require the existence of any files in
/usr/share/doc/ in order to function.
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s12.3

These files must be moved to /usr/share/$PACKAGE and may be symlinked
from /usr/share/doc/$PACKAGE.

This piuparts tests prevents the installation of (most) files into
/usr/share/doc with 'dpkg --path-exclude=...'.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

  Selecting previously unselected package nagios3-cgi.
(Reading database ... 9730 files and directories currently installed.)
  Unpacking nagios3-cgi (from .../nagios3-cgi_3.4.1-3_amd64.deb) ...
  Setting up nagios3-cgi (3.4.1-3) ...
Error: The new file /usr/share/doc/nagios3-common/examples/apache2.conf does
not exist!
  dpkg: error processing nagios3-cgi (--configure):

Bug#709853: gd4o: FTBFS: Cannot mkdir .../debian/tmp//usr/lib/ocaml/gd

2013-05-25 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: gd4o
Version: 1.0~alpha5-6
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Builds of gd4o covering only its architecture-dependent packages (as
on the autobuilders) have been failing:

  files=$( for f in gd.cma gd.cmxa dllocamlgd.so libocamlgd.a *.mli *.cmi gd.a
META; do if [ -f $f ]; then echo $f; fi; done; ) \
 ocamlfind install gd $files
  ocamlfind: Bad configuration: Cannot mkdir
/.../gd4o-1.0~alpha5/debian/tmp//usr/lib/ocaml/gd because a path component does
not exist or is not a directory
  make[1]: *** [install] Error 2

Could you please ensure the presence of debian/tmp/usr/lib/ocaml,
either by (recursively) creating it explicitly or by listing it in an
architecture-dependent package's .dirs file?

Thanks!

Bug#709854: libewf: FTBFS: possibly undefined macro: AC_CHECK_HEADERS

2013-05-25 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: libewf
Version: 20130416-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

Builds of libewf in minimal environments (as on the autobuilders) have
been failing when trying to refresh the generated portions of its
build system:

libtoolize: putting auxiliary files in `.'.
  libtoolize: copying file `./ltmain.sh'
libtoolize: putting macros in AC_CONFIG_MACRO_DIR, `m4'.
  libtoolize: copying file `m4/libtool.m4'
  libtoolize: copying file `m4/ltoptions.m4'
  libtoolize: copying file `m4/ltsugar.m4'
  libtoolize: copying file `m4/ltversion.m4'
  libtoolize: copying file `m4/lt~obsolete.m4'
configure.ac:217: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_CHECK_HEADERS
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
See the Autoconf documentation.
autoreconf: /usr/bin/autoconf failed with exit status: 1
  dh_autoreconf: autoreconf -f -i returned exit code 1
  make: *** [build-arch] Error 2

This error is very odd, as AC_CHECK_HEADERS is a standard Autoconf
macro. A quick search for it suggests that the real problem may be
failing to declare a build dependency on pkg-config:

http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/harfbuzz/2012-June/002086.html

Could you please look into it? You can use pbuilder or the like to
obtain suitably minimal build environments.

Thanks!

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install. As
per definition of the release team this makes the package too buggy for

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'testing'.
It installed fine in 'testing', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.

Bug#616660: Please package pcretest again

2013-05-25 Thread Neale Banks

I too have found pcretest useful - both for my own testing of REs and more
importantly as a valuable tool when teaching REs.

Please package pcretest, either in its own binary or in a package like
prce-utils.

Thanks,
Neale.
