fcitx may if we do not install ibus without breaking others.
I doubt others. That is GNOME upstream decision. Unless someone
provide patches, I am not optimistic.

Aha, FC19 had patch for that. I once made package with them and showing
pop-ups. maybe later. I am out of time.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'sid' to 'experimental'.
It installed fine in 'sid', then the upgrade to 'experimental' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a

Good to know! If you have such environment, can you do a bit more test
to see if other input method can function correctly without
--disable-ibus (I can think of uim, scim, and fcitx)? If no more
problem I can do the commit on removing --disable-ibus.

Bug#715568: Please do not use --disable-ibus

2013-08-23 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi #715568,

> > > Changed path of dbus is related following commit:
> > > https://github.com/ibus/ibus/commit/458945e7308ab2661355edbf6880102c5f628dbe

This commit was from June 13th and was included in my 1.5.2-3 package as patch
0015-*.

Of course, 1.5.3-1 include this. Does this require any patch to other programs?

So far, removing --disable-ibus and recompiling both
 * gnome-control-center 3.4.3
 * gnome-settings-daemon 3.8.4
get me have functional ibus 1.5 on GNOME 3.8.

But there are few things missing in comparison to FC19.
I do not get nice warning for super-space usage. Let me figure out it
as a separate bug.

So what ibus should do for the #715568 bug is done with 1.5.3-1. Just
wait other packages to cope with this in #720489 and its clone -1.

Also what ibus-anthy should do for the #720071 bug is done with 1.5.3-2.
Just wait other packages to fix bugs to get ibus-anthy working again.

Regards,

Osamu

PS: I will focus removal of --disable-ibus in bug #720489

Bug#720618: non-free license statement in /usr/share/inkscape/icons/inkscape.svg

2013-08-23 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: inkscape
Version: 0.48.4-2
Severity: serious

Hello,

I just found by chance (because the inkscape icon is incorporated in the Sozi
icon, https://github.com/senshu/Sozi/blob/master/editors/inkscape/sozi/icon.svg)
that the Inkscape icon contains a statement suggesting that its license is
CC-BY-SA 2.0. This is unfortunate, as Debian's FTP team does not consider it
Free.

Perhaps you can clarify this with the Inkscape authors ? Maybe they intended
GPL-2 anyway...

Cheers,

Package: gnome-calculator
Version: 3.8.2-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Something very odd happened to gnome calculator: all functionality like
cos/sin/tan, programming calculations, well anything more than the absolute
most basic functionality is suddenly gone and also the functionality to re-
enable them is nowhere to be found.

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
amd64.

Maybe you need to add explicitly the offending lib to LD flags.

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on EC2 VM instances from
Amazon Web Services, using a clean, minimal and up-to-date chroot. Every
failed build was retried once to eliminate random failures.

Package: src:libopenraw
Version: 0.0.9-3
Severity: important
Tags: sid jessie
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-4.8

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.8/g++-4.8, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.7/g++-4.7. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

  XXX

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs-20130217/gcc48/libopenraw_0.0.9-3_unstable_gcc48.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.8, either set CC=gcc-4.8 CXX=g++-4.8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++ g++-4.7 g++-4.8 libc6-dev

The test rebuild was done with eglibc-2.17 and GCC-4.8, so some issues
might be caused by the updated glibc.

The tiff3 package does not include tiff2pdf, so the issue does not apply
to tiff3.

Weird - all the other archs I checked look good, but on ia64 the new
libraries get put in libwxgtk2.8-0 too.

I'm Cc:-ing Fabrice Coutadeur who provided the patch to enable
wxmediactrl.

Cheers,

Bug#698375: any update on this bug ?

2013-08-23 Thread shirish शिरीष
Hi all,
Any update on this bug so the package can enter testing. I *think*
this is the only bug that is causing the package to not enter testing
even though quite a bit of time has passed.

There were ABI change too. (It was just Ubuntu symbols file not

OK.

Anyway, I updated package in experimental and VCS.

Package: dovecot-core
Version: 1:2.1.7-7
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 11.6

Dear Maintainer,

The default configurations files for dovecot specify that mbox write locking
should be done using the dotlock method first, and then the fcntl() method.
This is not the correct order, according to Debian policy (11.6).

The default /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf, installed by dovecot-core,
contains this:

  #mbox_write_locks = dotlock fcntl

and a glance at the package sources would seem to indicate that the value for
mbox_write_locks indeed defaults to "dotlock fcntl".

In squeeze I see there used to be a patch that added the following message and
changed the commented-out default value in /etc/dovecot.conf:

  # The Debian value for mbox_write_locks differs from upstream Dovecot. It is
  # changed to be compliant with Debian Policy (section 11.6) for NFS safety.
  #   Dovecot: mbox_write_locks = dotlock fcntl
  #   Debian:  mbox_write_locks = fcntl dotlock

It also patched the source code so that the default value of mbox_write_locks
was "fcntl dotlock". What happened to this patch?

No. I used only debian package.

I tried following steps.

1. Get debian (not ubuntu) source package in Ubuntu.
  $ git clone http://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-ime/ibus.git
  $ cd ibus
2. Update new upstream release (1.5.2 -> 1.5.3)
  $ uscan
  $ uupdate ../ibus-1.5.3.tar.gz
  $ cd ../ibus-1.5.3
3. Remove backported patch (already applied in upstream)
  $ quilt delete 0001-*
  ...
  $ quilt delete 0017-*
  $ quilt delete 0102-fix-format-security-error.patch
  $ quilt delete 0103-Werror-format-security.patch
4. Build package with pbuilder-sid.
  $ debuild -S -us -uc
  $ pbuilder-dist sid build ../ibus_1.5.3-1.dsc
5. Install built packages to jessie

Not sure.

When I launched ibus-setup 1.5.2, I noticed that ibus-setup could not get
supported engines list from dbus. And request dbus path is
deifferent from 1.5.2 and 1.5.3.

Changed path of dbus is related following commit:

I retract this statement.

There were ABI changes between 1.5.2 -> 1.5.3

Somehow Ubuntu package ships with symbols file marking all 1.5.2-3~ and
1.5.3 versions as 1.5.2.

Since Ubuntu has Unity patches, I skipped them.

Let's see.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.8/g++-4.8, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.7/g++-4.7. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

  XXX

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs-20130217/gcc48/cernlib_20061220+dfsg3-2_unstable_gcc48.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.8, either set CC=gcc-4.8 CXX=g++-4.8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++ g++-4.7 g++-4.8 libc6-dev

The test rebuild was done with eglibc-2.17 and GCC-4.8, so some issues
might be caused by the updated glibc.

Bug#709668: AW: embperl: test failure with perl 5.18

2013-08-23 Thread Damyan Ivanov

> I have to do some further tests, than I will create a new release

I tried to apply the patch from revision 1503556 to the current debian
sources (version 2.5.0 rc3). The patch applied with only one rejected
hunk, which I applied by hand.

Embperl built fine and tests that previously failed (51 escape.htm)
now pass. However, some other tests not fail.

With perl 5.18:

 #32 notfound.htm...

 Expected 1 more error(s) in logfile

 Input: test/html/notfound.htm
 Output:test/tmp/out.htm
 Log:   test/tmp/test.log
 Testparameter:
   errors = 1

and with perl 5.14:

 #247 rtf/rtfadv.asc...Error in Line 52
 Is:>{Ulrike}<
 Should:>{Sarah}<

If the tests pass for you, I guess we could try packaging a snapshot
from SVN's trunk.
(https://metacpan.org/module/GRICHTER/Embperl-2.4.0/SVN.pod)

Best regards,
Damyan,

Bug#715568: Please do not use --disable-ibus

2013-08-23 Thread Osamu Aoki
As for Bug#715568:

Hmmm... when checking the source, I was a bit confused. Excuse me.

The --disable-ibus which I was looking at was in the source of
gnome-settings-daemon-3.8. Sorry for my mistake in filing bug.

Here is my conclusion of actions needed:
1. upload new ibus 1.5.3 to experimental (me!)
2. reassign this bug to proper packages (not gnome-shell)
3. rebuild affected packages without --disable-ibus using ibus* 1.5.3.
   (but no rush)

This is becoming a bit more than I can handle alone, your help iand
guidance are most appreciated.

Here are the backgrounds:

Bug#715568:
On Thu, Aug 22, 2013 at 11:20:27PM +0800, Aron Xu wrote:

Yes.

Bug#715568:
On Thu, Aug 22, 2013 at 05:39:04PM +0200, Laurent Bigonville wrote:
> Quickly looking at this, it seems that this bug should have been

Probably yes.

> Do you think you could rebuild the version currently in experimental to

> fixing your other bug?),

Now that I checked, gnome-settings-daemon was build with this
--disable-ibus since we only had ibus 1.4.2 equivalent only.

I tried to build gnome-settings-daemon on my unstable/experimental mix local
system (with old ibus 1.4.2 equivalent in unstable).

...
| checking for MOUSE... yes
| checking for CURSOR... yes
| checking for XSETTINGS... yes
| checking for KEYBOARD... no
| configure: error: Package requirements (xkbfile ibus-1.0 >= 1.4.99
gnome-desktop-3.0 >= 3.7.90) were not met:
|
| No package 'ibus-1.0' found
|
| Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
| installed software in a non-standard prefix.
|
| Alternatively, you may set the environment variables KEYBOARD_CFLAGS
| and KEYBOARD_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
| See the pkg-config man page for more details.
| make: *** [debian/stamp-autotools] Error 1

| debuild: fatal error at line 1361:
| dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -D -us -uc -I -i failed
| Press any key to continue...

Now I see this gnome-settings-daemon needs to be build with ibus 1.5.x
if we wish to remove --disable-ibus.

I verified this by installing experimental version of ibus 1.5.2
packages (including -dev). Now gnome-settings-daemon builds OK.

(Not tested newly build gnome-settings-daemon yet since I am not
restarting to use GNOME3. I am on Xfce now and I am thinking to build
newer ibus now as below.)

> I'm not sure that a lot of people in the gnome
> team are actually using ibus.

If you are English/German/French, probably not.
If you are Chinese/Japanese/Korean/... probably yes. (But via old
starting mode and with ibus 1.4.2)

> I'm not cloning this bug before we got a decision.

OK but this is not gnome-shell bug. What do you suggest.

Sounds like what I experienced.

How? Forced Ubuntu package with Unity patches?

OK. But when? My 1.5.2 package had many patches from upstream VCS so
it was more similar to 1.5.3 than 1.5.2.

(There were no ABI change between 1.5.2 -> 1.5.3 as seen in symbols.)

> Perhaps, you need to upgrade to 1.5.3.

I agree. This seems to be the first thing to do.

Osamu

vtk is involved in three ongoing transitions.

Here comes the usual nmudiff text:

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for vtk (versioned as 5.8.0-14.1) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/2. Please feel free to tell me if I
should delay it longer.

Bug#720565: [php-maint] Bug#720565: All tests fail with dpkg-buildpackage

2013-08-23 Thread Ondřej Surý
Version: 5.5.0~beta1-2
Control: severity -1 normal
Control: reassing -1 src:php5

Please try building PHP package in clean environment.

I have just successfully rebuilt PHP 5.4.4-14+deb7u3 in my wheezy
cowbuilder chroot including all the tests.

The tests run clashes with already installed PHP configuration and that got
fixed in:

php5 (5.5.0~beta1-2) experimental; urgency=low

  [...]
  * Add -n to run-tests.php for php to not pick-up any local php.ini.
It's not a problem on sbuilds, but it might break
when building locally. (Courtesy of Andreas Pour)

Bug#720565: All tests fail with dpkg-buildpackage

2013-08-23 Thread Florian Kaiser
Package: php5-cgi
Version: 5.4.4-14+deb7u3
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

I cannot build PHP from apt-get source on a fresh debian wheezy installation
since ALL tests will fail during the build process!

I get the following errors during the testing phase

Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library
'/tmp/php5-5.4.4/apache2-build/modules/curl.so' -
/tmp/php5-5.4.4/apache2-build/modules/curl.so: undefined symbol:

Module compiled with build ID=API20100525,TS
PHPcompiled with build ID=API20100525,NTS
These options need to match
 in Unknown on line 0

I'm getting them for ANY given module php tries to load during the testing
phase.

Steps to reproduce:

apt-get source php5
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc

Expected result: Compilation & Tests succeed,

Actual result: Compilation succeeds, but all tests fail.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from

It installed fine in 'testing', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a

I wanted to check if #701428 is fixed in 0.7.3-1. But now it fails to

autoreconf is executed from debian/rules and it requires appropriate
build-depends

Fixed in the latest upload

This is probably an issue that lintian could check for. (debian/rules
invokes autoreconf but doesn't build-depend autoconf)--- End Message ---

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
eglibc-2.17, but succeeds to build with eglibc-2.13. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

The test rebuild was done together with GCC-4.8, so some issues
might be caused by the updated GCC as well.

  util_sys.c:416:14: error: ignoring return value of 'setegid', declared with
attribute warn_unused_result [-Werror=unused-result]

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs-20130217/gcc48/turnserver_0.7.2-1_unstable_gcc48.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To install eglibc from experimental,

  apt-get -t experimental install libc6-dev

To build with GCC 4.8, either set CC=gcc-4.8 CXX=g++-4.8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++ g++-4.7 g++-4.8 libc6-dev

This package FTBFS with perl 5.18 from experimental (in a clean sbuild
session):

# testing stderr ... ok
#   Failed test 'Line 1179   "[% USE FooTest2 %]one"'
#   at t/05_tt_base.t line 70.

t/05_tt_base.t ..
Dubious, test returned 1 (wstat 256, 0x100)
Failed 2286/3068 subtests

I'm not certain that the forwarded bug is the right one, as the warnings
are missing, but this may be a difference in the build environment;
the overall test failure is the same.

Bug#720539: linux-image-3.10-2-amd64: kernel BUG at linux-3.10.5/fs/buffer.c:1234 (ecryptfs related, hangs on core dump)

2013-08-23 Thread Jochen Topf
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.10.5-1
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Allow core dumps with "ulimit -c unlimited". Run some program that crashes. If
the core dump is being generated on an ecryptfs volume, when the core dump
should be written to disk, the disk locks up (all processes that access disk
will be in D state). Hard reboot necessary.

This happened only when writing the core dump to the ecryptfs volume, on plain
ext4 everything was okay.

This seems to be the same problem discussed here:
http://t46460.file-systems-ext4.file-systemstalk.info/kernel-bug-at-fs-buffer-c-1234-t46460.html

Here is the kernel dump:

Yep, 'restart' calls 'stop' and then 'start' which are implemented as ordinary
functions, do_stop() and do_start(). But create_cache_dir() is called outside of
the do_start(). I guess do_start() could call create_cache_dir().

Ok. If you agree I'll close the bug.

Thanks.

Thanks for the report! I've (hopefully) fixed the issue upstream in
commit fbc903877a6c5a5858c5ed44a91253b364de522c and pushed the change.

I want to do a new release anyway soonish, but maybe I'll upload a
beta version to get this fixed in Debian before the release.

No problem at all.
