severity 646247 minor thanks Following cups 1.5.3-4, usblp is no longer blacklisted. usblp now automatically loads on my install, and Qink seems to work perfectly. usblp may still be deprecated, so I am not closing this report to let someone knowledgeable verify this usage, but downgrading. Hi Bill, As discussed on IRC, I've reproduced the bug and have a fix for this. The problem occurs with the following transition: ulogd 1.x => ulogd2 2.0.2-3 => [reboot] => ulogd2 2.0.2-4 In detail: 1. ulogd_1.x is installed on a wheezy or early jessie system 2. ulogd_1.x is replaced by ulogd_2.0.2-3 (transitional package) and ulogd2_2.0.2-3. the 'ulogd' init script is left behind during this transition, and 'ulogd2' is installed alongside it. 3. the system is rebooted, thus the 'ulogd' init script runs and starts the ulogd daemon; the ulogd2 init script runs but fails 4. the ulogd packages are updated to 2.0.2-4, which fails because the ulogd daemon is started in a different way to how the ulogd2 init script expects The transition from ulogd 1.x to 2.x was initiated in 2.0.2-3. The 'ulogd' init script is removed by the 2.0.2-4 maintainer scripts, but the daemon isn't stopped using that script. The next upload (2.0.3-1) will run a stop in preinst as well as removing the old init script. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Bug#726799: qgo: deletes a shipped file during upgrades: /usr/share/mime/text/x-sgf.xml
On Sat, Oct 19, 2013 at 01:09:39PM +0200, Andreas Beckmann wrote: > Package: qgo > Version: 2.0~git-20130914-1 > Severity: serious > User: debian...@lists.debian.org > Usertags: piuparts > > Hi, > > during a test with piuparts I noticed your package deletes one of its > shipped files during upgrades. > > debsums reports modification of the following files, > from the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): > > 0m50.7s ERROR: FAIL: debsums reports modifications inside the chroot: > debsums: missing file /usr/share/mime/text/x-sgf.xml (from qgo > package) This is very strange. When I started to investigate, that file had disappeared from my system too, so it looks like there *is* a bug somewhere. However, after reinstalling the testing version, then upgrading to the sid one, then reinstalling the sid version (under supervision of a stap script sending SIGSTOP to anyone unlinking that file), I could not reproduce the problem: only dpkg itself ever gets caught, once, unlinking the file, which looks reasonable, and the file is there at the end of the run. I'm wondering if that could not be caused by a bug in the mime trigger, that would have been fixed already. Can you please retry the test, and if it still fails, run it while the following stap script is running: --- >8 --- sgf.stap --- probe begin { println("go...") } probe syscall.unlink { if (isinstr(pathname, "/x-sgf.xml")) { println("unlink ", kernel_string($pathname)) printf("process traceback:\n %s\n", pstrace(task_current())) raise(19) # SIGSTOP } } --- >8 --- (run as "stap -g sgf.stap" as a user in groups stapdev and stapusr, with the linux-image-*-dbg matching you running kernel installed) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". An optimal solution would consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and diversions should only be used when packages provide different implementations for the same functionality. Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages (according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be slightly out of sync): /usr/bin/mason /usr/share/man/man1/mason.1.gz This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug. -Ralf. Bug#723913: Perl 5.18.1 breaks latex2html
I was looking into a problem that occurs while building the HTCondor documentation on debian unstable (Sid). Figures and tables with captions cause latex2html to go into an infinite loop. I did further research on this problem and found this posting about how perl 5.18.1 broke latex2html. https://github.com/Starlink/starlink/issues/10 The very last post in the thread mentions the root cause and a fix. It points to a redhat bug report on about a regression in perl 5.18 with \8 and \9 back-references which are used in latex2html when processing captions. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=978233 So, it looks like we need a fixed perl to proceed. ...Tim -- Tim Theisen Release Manager HTCondor & Open Science Grid Center for High Throughput Computing Department of Computer Sciences University of Wisconsin - Madison 4261 Computer Sciences and Statistics 1210 W Dayton St Madison, WI 53706-1685 +1 608 265 5736 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#731246: condor: Needs to adapt to Globus Toolkit multi-arch support
Source: condor Version: 7.8.8~dfsg.1-2 Severity: serious With the recent update of Globus Toolkit to version 5.2.5, the debian packages implements Multi-Arch support. For this reason the install location for the architecture dependent header files had to be changed. For packages that depend on Globus Toolkit and use pkg-config to find the location of the headers, this change is seamless. The condor package however, hardcodes the install location in its cmake files and will fail to build if a rebuild is attempted. The attached patch adds the new install location to the build configuration. (An alternative approach would be to convert the build configuration to use pkg-config instead, but that might be more invasive.) Mattias PS. At the moment the condor build also fails due to a broken latex2html that goes into an endless loop during generation of the documentation files. Bug#728822: Orthanc 0.7.2
Hi Andreas, Following our discussion of this morning [1], I have just updated the DebianMed repository with the newest upstream version of Orthanc (0.7.2) [2]. This release includes an adaptation of the " detect-endian.patch" from Adam Conrad [3], that has also been applied upstream [4]. So, bug #728822 should be fixed with this new release. Please would you kindly check whether everything is OK and upload it to unstable? As it embeds the newly packaged "liborthancclient0.7" shared library, perhaps the ftpmaster could set this upgrade to higher priority. Please let me know if I can further help. Thanks in advance! Hi Andreas, Could you please confirm that you subscribed the package to get the mails automatically? Alternatively you can (should) subscribe the maintainer mailing list https://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/debian-med-packaging which also will bring issues of orthanc directly to your attention. Yes, I confirm that I subscribed to both the package and the maintainer mailing list on this morning. I would like now to work on the Orthanc 0.7.2 package, but since it will embed the "liborthancclient0.7" package, I assume this will take several weeks before it is actually available. If we announce to ftpmaster kindly that a package will fix an RC bug this definitely gets priority (I'd volunteer to write the according mail - just ping me). I hope that even in general the new processing will be faster than it used to be until recently. OK, thanks for this interesting information! I work on this topic ASAP. Bug#728822: [adcon...@debian.org: Bug#728822: FTBFS on big-endian architectures, patches attached]
Hi Andreas, Thanks for pointing this patch to me! The support of big-endian architectures was only included in Orthanc 0.7.1 (released on October 30th). It was not present in Orthanc 0.6.2, which finally came out of the NEW queue yesterday. It took about 6 weeks for this version of the Debian package to come out. I assume this is because of the packaging of the new component "Orthanc Client". I will check whether the patch from the Ubuntu team can still improve the upstream code of Orthanc 0.7.2. I would like now to work on the Orthanc 0.7.2 package, but since it will embed the "liborthancclient0.7" package, I assume this will take several weeks before it is actually available. Cheers, Sébastien- On 12/02/2013 05:47 PM, Andreas Tille wrote: Hi Sebastien, I'm not sure whether I just forwarded this patch to you but it seems it is not fixed yet (at least d/changelog is not closing it). The second patch in the series is a straight backport from upstream of their PngWriter and testsuite fix, and should be self-evident as such. The first patch was heavily inspired by upstream's fix[1] for endian detection, except that it does it correctly for all arches, instead of bizarrely assuming that only __powerpc__ is big-endian. Please forward this one to them as a more complete fix. If upstream is concerned that might not exist on Win32 (I have no way of checking this, so don't know), the extra include could be dropped, as includes on Linux anyway. I just prefer to be explicit in my includes when using features, as implicit includes tend to bite you when linux or glibc upstream decide to move things around. :) ...
