Bug#732754: [Pkg-openssl-devel] Bug#732754: openssl: CVE-2013-6449: crash when using TLS 1.2
On Sat, Dec 21, 2013 at 08:16:42AM +0100, Salvatore Bonaccorso wrote: Package: openssl Version: 1.0.1e-2 Severity: grave Tags: security upstream patch Hi, the following vulnerability was published for openssl. CVE-2013-6449[0]: crash when using TLS 1.2 It was reported in Apache Traffic Server[1] and upstream at [2], see also [3]. I was not able to reproduce any crash myself, just checking against the openssl source package to verify upstrem patches apply. See [4] and [5] for the patches applied. I was expecting this, and planning an upload for it already. I'll prepare an upload later today. I have a bunch of other patches that I'd like to see reach stable, but I'm not sure how many of those you like in a DSA. Bug#732735: performous: FTBFS: Required library Freetype NOT FOUND.
Control: tags -1 confirmed patch Hello, performous currently FTBFS because the software ships a local cmake module, FindFreeType.cmake, instead of using Debian's system default module for cmake. However simply removing the local module did not help (normally cmake falls back to the system's default then), thus I have created a small patch to address this problem. The debdiff is attached. I have also committed the changes to the svn repository of the Debian Games Team. Bug#732717: growisofs - TRACKING SERVO FAILURE - Input/output error
Hi, (For some reason my subscription to this bug does not work. Better Cc: me.) I guess this backup tool creates iso's witch are not compattible with DVD file system. (Universal Disk Format (UDF), ISO/IEC 13346 and/or ECMA The error message originally stems from the drive's firmware. It is specified in SCSI part MMC as key 4, asc 0x09, ascq 0x01, but regrettably not much background info is given. The error name suggests that the laser beam lost its way while writing its spiral track. This should not be related to the data content of the blocks written. Regardless whether ISO 9660, UDF, ext3, tar or whatever format is represented in those blocks. UDF is prescribed only for Video DVD and Video Blu-ray, so that the player devices know where to find the movies. But it is perfectly ok to write ISO 9660 to DVD or Blu-ray. I do this every day by my own program xorriso. And after all, the name growisofs stems from a close affinity of dvd+rw-tools to ISO 9660 resp. program mkisofs. That said, if you really can reproduce that only this one filesystem image fails, and that this happens with any DVD you try, then your drive's firmware has a flaw. I could not find out what filesystem format is written by mondorescue. Well, if it has the suffix .iso ... What do shell commands file and isoinfo tell about it ? file /media/DEBIAN-BACKUP-2/Mondo-ISO/mondorescue-1.iso isoinfo -d -i /media/DEBIAN-BACKUP-2/Mondo-ISO/mondorescue-1.iso (Universal Disk Format (UDF) [...] ECMA-167 Additionally to ECMA-167 one needs UDF-2.60 specs. Both are available for free. For DVD-RW: ISO 9660 ISO 9660 specs are available for free as ECMA-119. Have a nice day :) Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#732235: brutalchess bugs #732235 and #732227
Control: tags -1 confirmed patch Hello, thanks for your reports! I'm attaching a debdiff with the latest changes of brutalchess that fixes the FTBFS and the broken -p option. Unfortunately the only way to fix the latter is to disable the quake option because those models were never shipped by upstream. The changes are also available in the team's svn repository. Does the crash go away after an upgrade of these two packages? Same problem with libwebkitgtk-3.0-0 and libjavascriptcoregtk-3.0-0 2.2.3-1. But the bug doesn't appear with stable versions of libwekitgtk-3.0-0 and libjavascriptcoregtk-3.0-0 (versions 1.8.1-3.4). Bug#732735: performous: FTBFS: Required library Freetype NOT FOUND.
On Sat, Dec 21, 2013 at 12:52 +0100, Markus Koschany wrote: performous currently FTBFS because the software ships a local cmake module, FindFreeType.cmake, instead of using Debian's system default module for cmake. However simply removing the local module did not help (normally cmake falls back to the system's default then), thus I have created a small patch to address this problem. tl;dr : I think Markus's patch is good. Sending this anyway to save other people from looking at #731089. There's a very recent bugfix for FreeType in CMake: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=731089 Source-Version: 2.8.12.1-1.1 But even when the system module works, Performous's other CMake modules don't, they use a different capitalisation and sometimes different names for variables set by FindFreetype.cmake. Simply deleting all the local cmake modules isn't an easy option either, not all of them have matching system-supplied ones. + find_path(Freetype_INCLUDE_DIR +- NAMES freetype/freetype.h ++ NAMES freetype2/freetype.h I don't think this one is perfect. IIUC, according to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=731015#10 the only reliable header filename is ft2build.h. But after writing the rest of this, I think it's the right fix. I hope I'm not overreacting. Consider the following situation, where : 1. a file is annexed, with git annex add. 2. make the file modifiable : git annex unlock 3. modify the contents of the file. 3. git annex lock the file The lock command doesn't complain that the file was modified, and silently removes it to replace it by the link to the previous version. File changes are lost :-( It seems this is on purpose, reading the manpage : Use this to undo an unlock command if you don't want to modify the files, or have made modifications you want to dis‐ card. IMHO, this is really undesirable, as one should be warned/prompted that a commit is necessary, by default. Only with an explicit force option would lock ever erase pending changes (there's git reset for reverting changes, and having lock duplicate the behaviour is confusing for git users, IMHO). Lock should just be the inverse of unlock, i.e. no longer allowing modifications, but not *erasing* modifications, if it happens there were some. Hope this makes sense. With the C locale (ASCII only), I get AssertionError: 'Element mark=\u2022/' != 'Element mark=\\u2022/' instead. The quickest way to reproduce this is $ python3 setup.py build --build-lib=build/py3/ $ python3 test3/test_nodes.py ElementTests.test_empty (just tested in a clean and up to date sid schroot.) The most likely cause is the 2to3 conversion of the test. The original code alreaydy differs between 2 and 3: if sys.version_info (3,): self.assertEqual(str(element), 'Element mark=\\u2022/') else: self.assertEqual(str(element), 'Element mark=\u2022/') But in test3/, 2to3 mangles this to if sys.version_info (3,): self.assertEqual(str(element), 'Element mark=\\u2022/') else: self.assertEqual(str(element), 'Element mark=\\u2022/') I. e. exactly the same for both python versions. If I un-break the additional \, then \u2022 is in fact the right representation of •, and the test works again. I'm not sure whether this is an overzealous 2to3 conversion, or whether 2to3 is actually right. FTR, tests with python2 work with both C and C.UTF-8. Bug#732788: overlayroot useless without kernel module overlayfs
Package: overlayroot Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, I tried to use the package overlayroot. But it seems to me not useable. At startup the package complains about the missing kernel module overlayfs. But this kernel module is not part of any debian package. However, the initrd script of overlayroot seems to be prepared for aufs, too. But there is no way to tell that it should use aufs and the script does not detect the kernel module. And the initrd hook script does not integrate aufs. If I integrate aufs into the initrd and set overlayfs_driver manualy to aufs, overlayroot says that everything is ok. But it does not work. Overlayroot is not able to create the fstab for aufs. It seems to me that overlayroot does not work at all. I suggest either remove this package until overlayfs is part of debian or make this package useable with aufs. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.11-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#725714: reassign to linux
Control: reassign -1 src:linux Hi, as nobody objected to my proposal, I'm reassigning this bug back to linux. In my opinion FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER should default to no, since the functionality is not in udev anymore. Furthermore it seems, that when this functionality was moved to the kernel, it was not implemented, that the missing firmware files are written somewhere, which is needed by the Debian installer. I think this can best be added in firmware_class.c [1], in the places, where fw_load_from_user_helper is called. Bug#708123: [grub-pc] grub2 (2.00-14) fails to install on RAID arrays (rescue, boot is broken)
control: retitle -1 add news item about end-of-life for old RAID format On Wed, Dec 18, 2013 at 1:27 PM, Gleb Golubitsky wrote: Hey, On Friday, December 06, 2013 12:28:40 PM Colin Watson wrote: Gleb, if you can still reproduce this, could you please run this command I recently reinstalled my Debian (moved i386 - amd64) and the bug is not reproduced any more. Right before that i found out that 'delay' parameter helped me so i suppose the key of problem here is a long time needed by kernel (or somewhat else?) to detect my RAID. Dunno, maybe the bug should be closed as unreproducible. This is an issue only with RAID arrays using a very old format, which it looks like grub now no longer supports. This, I think, can be corrected by writing a news entry about that so users will see the info during an upgrade. Bug#732717: growisofs - TRACKING SERVO FAILURE - Input/output error
Hi, isoinfo gave me this.. Looks like quite a normal bootable ISO 9660 filesystem image. Much like the Debian and Ubuntu ISOs which get burned to DVD all over the world. Still hard to believe that the problem should sit in this image and not in burner drive and medium. How much evidence do you have for your theory ? (How often did it not work with that image, how often did it work with others ? How many media did you try ?) Have a nice day :) Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#731372: RFA: spring -- modern full-3D RTS game engine
retitle 719618 RFA: spring -- modern full-3D RTS game engine noowner 719618 tags 731372 patch thanks Hello Jan and Martin, I have overhauled the Debian spring package and committed everything to the team's git repository. The new package closes almost every bug except the ones which require exceptional efforts by upstream, namely making spring work on other architectures than amd64 or i386. I'm sure that I improved the package but I don't intend to become one of the uploaders at the moment. There are far too many embedded third party software libraries and I can't see that upstream will try to change that in the near future. I'm also a little disappointed that there is no kind of security mailing list and only little effort to work with upstream developers of embedded libs like assimp to incorporate spring's changes. [1] However I would really appreciate it if someone reviewed the current packaging work and helped with fixing the current RC bug. As far as I can see the springlobby package could also benefit from a new upstream release and rapid-spring is no longer supported (see the info at the bottom of the page) [2] I don't think it's worth to support this package for Jessie. In any case Happy Christmas! [1] http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=20t=31300 [2] http://springrts.com/wiki/GamesDownloads signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

On my side, it seems to have to do with libpam-systemd, removing it allows all 4 buttons. The problem is triggered as soon as libpam-systemd is installed (installing upower does not change anything to it). When I upgraded my second machine yesterday, I noticed that both libpam-systemd and systemd had been installed, so that I thought the bug was related to one of them. So, I did some tests to see what minimal change triggered the problem, and it was not due to libpam-systemd (which depends on systemd), but to systemd itself. That's why I've reassigned the bug to systemd. -- Vincent Lefèvre vinc...@vinc17.net - Web: http://www.vinc17.net/ 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: http://www.vinc17.net/blog/ Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / AriC project (LIP, ENS-Lyon) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#732006: uscan: broken handling of filenames with whitespace
Control: tags -1 + patch I've pushed a proposed fix for this security issue to the packaging repo git://anonscm.debian.org/collab-maint/devscripts.git as the branch CVE-2013-7085-ruin-someones-yuletide One commit, see http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/devscripts.git;a=commit;h=f3b48a97d10fce5bb368b3af195b3c1cdb09e4b2 It's kind of a large commit for a small issue. Mostly because the wrap shell commands in backticks, and hope for the best approach is open for multiple potential issues, and I would like to remove them all. I'm not convinced the bug is in systemd and the package is clearly not unrelated (as lightdm has systemd specific code) so the severity is incorrect. It's very well possible that it's lightdm which has broken logind specific. Am 29.11.2013 23:08, schrieb Praveen A: package: systemd version: 204-5 severity: critical Even when a simple fsck is enough to fix the issue. Currently it drops you into a shell where you have to manually run vgchange -a y. systemd should give up only when a simple fsck fails to fix the file system. If you are dropped into such a rescue shell, can you run journalctl -b (will output the journal log from the current boot) and dump that into a file and attach it to the bug report. A systemctl dump from such a boot would be helpful as well. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth? signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#732819: fontconfig-config: Upgrading from 2.9.0-7 doesn't change /etc/fonts/fonts.conf which leads to misconfiguration
Package: fontconfig-config Version: 2.10.2-2 Severity: serious Justification: 3 Upgrading from 2.9.0-7 to 2.10 or 2.11 doesn't prompts to change /etc/fonts/fonts.conf and doesn't point to possible problem with keeping old fonts.conf version, although comment in the file says IT WILL BE REPLACED WHEN FONTCONFIG IS UPDATED. Not updating fonts.conf leads to the following: sans, serif, monospace and possibly other match queries to fontconfig return unpredictable font faces, which can be even serif face for sans query etc. They are unpredictable but the same for every query, so no font-blinking effect, just ugly, inappropriate faces everywhere (in Mate DE in my case). Some of them is taken from my ~/.fonts directory, although there are only art faces there, and they aren't included in any fontconfig config file by me. I've got this bug twice on two different Debian installations: at home and at the office, and both times i spent almost full-day to find a way to fix it. Interestingly, downgrading to previously installed fontconfig version didn't fix the bug both times. Finnaly, I found a way to fix the problem, just needed to remove the following sections from /etc/fonts/fonts.conf : !-- Accept deprecated 'mono' alias, replacing it with 'monospace' -- match target=pattern test qual=any name=family stringmono/string /test edit name=family mode=assign binding=same stringmonospace/string /edit /match !-- Accept alternate 'sans serif' spelling, replacing it with 'sans-serif' -- match target=pattern test qual=any name=family stringsans serif/string /test edit name=family mode=assign binding=same stringsans-serif/string /edit /match !-- Accept deprecated 'sans' alias, replacing it with 'sans-serif' -- match target=pattern test qual=any name=family stringsans/string /test edit name=family mode=assign binding=same stringsans-serif/string /edit /match -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-686-pae (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages fontconfig-config depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.46 ii fonts-freefont-ttf [ttf-freefont] 20120503-1 ii ttf-dejavu-core2.33+svn2514-3 ii ucf3.0025+nmu3 fontconfig-config recommends no packages. fontconfig-config suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/fonts/fonts.conf changed: ?xml version=1.0? !DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM fonts.dtd !-- /etc/fonts/fonts.conf file to configure system font access -- fontconfig !-- Font directory list -- dir/usr/share/fonts/dir dir/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/dir dir/usr/local/share/fonts/dir dir prefix=xdgfonts/dir !-- the following element will be removed in the future -- dir~/.fonts/dir !-- Load local system customization file -- include ignore_missing=yes/etc/fonts/conf.d/include !-- Font cache directory list -- cachedir/var/cache/fontconfig/cachedir cachedir prefix=xdgfontconfig/cachedir !-- the following element will be removed in the future -- cachedir~/.fontconfig/cachedir config !-- These are the default Unicode chars that are expected to be blank in fonts.
