Bug#735791: ekiga: FTBFS: configure: error: Could not find a version of the library!

2014-01-24 Thread Eugen Dedu

On 25/01/14 00:55, Andreas Beckmann wrote:

Followup-For: Bug #735791

The problem still occured on i386 and kfreebsd-i386:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=ekiga&arch=i386&ver=4.0.1-3&stamp=1390051917
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=ekiga&arch=kfreebsd-i386&ver=4.0.1-3&stamp=1390052002

To fix the bug I had to modify an .m4 file. The .m4 file alone is not
sufficient, I had to modify the configure file too. Because autotools
programs changed since the time the configure file was generated, I had
two choices:
- either I manually patch the configure file with the few lines changed
by the modification given by the .m4 file

- or I regenerate the configure, but the patch will be huge.

I used the first method. For an unknown and mysterious reason, for the
two architectures it failed.

Should I use the second solution?

Best regards,

Bug#736572: dictionaries-common: upgrade failure due to missing dependency on emacsen-common

2014-01-24 Thread Paul Wise
Package: dictionaries-common
Version: 1.20.5
Severity: serious
Justification: upgrade failure

I attempted to upgrade my system to dictionaries-common 1.20.5 but the
preinst failed because I do not have emacsen-common installed. Either
emacsen-common needs to be a pre-dependency or the preinst should check
for emacs-package-install before using it, probably the latter is best.

Bug#735202: Info received (speakup crashes debian)

2014-01-24 Thread Jude DaShiell
I haven't verified this yet but was told doing an ssh localhost before a
paste from speakup clipboard is supposed to prevent this problem. I
suppose that will be useful for work on a local computer, but if you're
online and cut information from an online source this work around
probably won't help.

Package: python-samba
Version: 2:4.1.4+dfsg-2
Control: affects -1 fusesmb nautilus-share backuppc smb4k

Hi,

Since 2:4.1.4+dfsg-2 python-samba depends on samba (the daemon/service)
package itself. But python-samba is (via samba-common-bin) a dependency
of several client packages, including:

* fusesmb
* nautilus-share
* backuppc
* smb4k

I suspect this is related to the following changelog entry:

   * Move libpac, db_glue and hdb module from samba-libs to samba
package to reduce size and dependency set of libs package.

So maybe these parts could be separated into their own package, maybe
samba-libs-extra or such?

Package: samba
Version: 2:4.1.4+dfsg-2
Severity: normal

The latest update of samba related packages wanted to install the
"samba" server packages. On my client system I only had smbclient
installed. The dependency chains afaics goes like this:

smbclient depends samba-common recommends samba-common-bin depends
python-samba depends samba

I think what is new in 2:4.1.4+dfsg-2 is that python-samba depends on
samba, whereas it only depended on samba-libs in 2:4.1.4+dfsg-1.

Please consider adjusting the dependencies so installing the client
packages do not automatically install the server

Thanks for the report.

I have requested the removal of staden-io-lib on the failing architectures,
so I am pre-emptively setting that bug's severity to "wishlist".

Hi Wolfgang,

I'm unable to reproduce the segfault that you've reported;
plee-the-bear starts up fine for me.

Would it be possible for you to get a backtrace? There are some
helpful instructions on the Debian wiki [1] if you're unsure how to
get one. Thanks!

Bug#736561: roxterm exits upon entering a comma

2014-01-24 Thread Toni Mueller
Package: roxterm
Version: 2.7.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

as of recently, entering a comma (',') in a roxterm window causes
roxterm to exit immediately. I have tried with various shells (csh,
bash, zsh) and other terminal emulators (xterm, gnome-term), and the
problem occurs only when using roxterm, regardless which shell I use,
and not on any other shell, also regardless of the shell in question.

How to repeat:

 * Open a roxterm. To test, I used this command:

   $ nohup strace -f -ttt -v   roxterm --disable-sm --separate -n 'bash' -e
/bin/bash 2>&1&

I can send you the very lengthy protocol (almost 34k lines) if you need it.

 * Enter a comma (',').

If you want, enter other characters and see how they do not cause
roxterm to exit, then press a comma. I verified with "xev" that the
comma key sends a comma symbol, nothing else, so I am confident that it
is really a comma and nothing else. I have also tried with and without
ibus running, but to no effect. It does not matter which program I have
running. I tried with mutt and vim, and in both cases, roxterm crashes.
If I start another program from a roxterm and enter a comma there, it
has the expected effect (usually just showing a comma).

It would be great if this problem could be fixed. I can't try the
version from unstable on this machine, but would gladly try a backport.

TIA!

Kind regards,
--Toni++

Hi,

openbox-themes should be removed from jessie it's orphan since 6 years
and bugged with new openbox/gtk2 versions.

Please all users using themes from there package copy the locally used
items.

Mateusz

Yes, I have tried to orphan this package going back to 2008[1]. Please,
someone take this package or remove me as maintainer.

Yes, I can reproduce this. Some files that do exist:

debian/python3-pil/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/PIL/_imagingtk.cpython-33m-x86_64-linux-gnu.so
build/lib.linux-x86_64-3.3/PIL/_imagingtk.cpython-33m.so

This is fallout from the python 3.3.3-5 update ("On installation with
--install-layout=deb, rename extensions to include the multiarch
tag"). This patch fixes it.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Bug#736558: mediawiki-extensions-openid: directory vs. symlink conflict: /var/lib/mediawiki/maintenance

2014-01-24 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: mediawiki-extensions-openid
Version: 3.5
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package installs files over
an existing symlink shipped or created by another package.

Your package ships:

  ./var/lib/mediawiki/maintenance/
  ./var/lib/mediawiki/maintenance/mediawiki-extensions/
  ./var/lib/mediawiki/maintenance/mediawiki-extensions/openid/
  ./var/lib/mediawiki/maintenance/mediawiki-extensions/openid/optionToTable.php

but package mediawiki ships:

  ./var/lib/mediawiki/maintenance -> /usr/share/mediawiki/maintenance

Installing something over existing symlinks is considered bad practice.
See e.g. http://lists.debian.org/87ehlevcrf@windlord.stanford.edu

It may break in subtle ways and dpkg cannot detect this as a problem.
* Your package might silently overwrite files installed at the symlink
  destination by other packages.
* If the package shipping the symlink decides to make the link point
somewhere else (or turn it into a real directory), the files owned
by your package "will be lost" somewhere in the filesystem.
* Depending on installation order the problematic path will be created
either as a symlink or a directory: the package installed first will
"win" and all others have "lost".
Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with
symlinks and vice versa, see in particular the end of point 4 in

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase
(Note: Adding Pre-Depends is *not* a solution.)

Please move the files shipped in your package to the "real" location.

>From the attached log (usually somewhere in the middle...):

0m58.6s INFO: dirname part contains a symlink:

Bug#736413: missing licenses in debian/copyright

2014-01-24 Thread Rafael Laboissiere

Dear XMDS developers,

A bug with severity level "serious" has been filed against the Debian
package for xmds2, regarding the licensing conditions of several files.
You can find the details in http://bugs.debian.org/736413 (BTW, thanks to
Thorsten Alteholz, who had the patience of verifying the licensing
conditions of the files in the Debian xmds2 package).

The package is currently unsuitable for inclusion in Debian, because it
violates the DFSG (Debian Free Software Guidelines). In order to avoid
the exclusion of xmds2, we must address the problems indicated in the bug
report:

* Thorsten Alteholz  [2014-01-23 13:03]:

please add the licenses of xmds-2.2.0/documentation/_static/* to
debian/copyright. Most of these files are not GFDL.

Files *.css and *.js come from third-party projects, like Sphinx, jQuery
and Underscore, which have DFSG-compliant licenses. The file
pygments.css has no copyright notice, but I think it is generated by
Sphinx, so we are fine here.

There are several image files in documentation/_static/ whose licensing
conditions are not clear. I think that most of them come from Sphinx.
As regards the ones specific from XMDS, like xmds_logo.png, I will assume
that they are released under the GFDL.

xmds-2.2.0/documentation/latex/tabulary.sty seems to be LPPL, can you
please check that this is really under v1.3

I can address this issue by removing the *.sty and *.cls files from the
upstream tarball and repacking it. At any rate, these files are not
needed for the xmds2-doc package.

Parts of Vectors/VectorInitialisationFromXSIL.tmpl and thus
Vectors/VectorInitialisationFromXSIL.py are licensed under APSL which
is not compatible with DFSG. Can you please check with upstream?

This is really annoying since the APSL is really DFSG-incompatible, see:

https://wiki.debian.org/DFSGLicenses#Licenses_that_are_DFSG-incompatible

If this issue cannot be addressed, then xmds2 will never migrate into
Debian stable.

If I understand correctly the situation, the C code scrap in
VectorInitialisationFromXSIL.tmpl that was imported from CFByteOrder.h
(which is released under the APSL v2), is included in the .cc file
generated by xmds2 only if the input simulation file contains:

Simulation files with the above definition only work if XMDS1 is
installed. Do you think that we can drop the support for kind="xsil" in
the Debian package? This would make the pacakge fully DFSG-compliant.

Another solution is to replace the offending parts of
VectorInitialisationFromXSIL.tmpl by some free code.

Best,

Rafael

Bug#735536: Other workaround: downgrading gnupg

2014-01-24 Thread Emilien Klein
Next to zach's workaround of using monkeysign (which worked for 14 of the
16 keys I had to sign [0] [1]), another possibility is to downgrade gnupg:

# apt-get install gnupg/stable

(credit to odyx@d.o who suggested this to me privately)

Thanks for maintaining signing-party.

Hi,

libwebp changed SONAMEs again, libwebp4 is being replaced by libwebp5,
so python-webm needs a rebuild (and possibly an update to take the ABI
changes into account).

Cheers,

Bug#736531: [nfdump] external command and expiration job for nfcapd are executed only once

Hello,

I configured nfcapd to run expiration and external command on every new
file it creates (options -x and -e)
however, this operation runs only once (first time) and all consequent file
rotations do not execute external command and expiration process:

Hi,

zoneminder FTBFS on powerpc, powerpcspe and ppc64 like this:

...

There is already a patch to prevent *SSE* specific stuff on non-Intel hardware.
But there are still some unconditional

__attribute__((__target__("sse2")))

Not sure why it only affects powerpc systems.

Attaching a patch that fixes it.

please add missing licenses to debian/copyright.
Lots of files are LGPL and I even found some BSD licenses.

Bug#736500: [apt-xapian-index] fails on update

2014-01-24 Thread Щербаков Дмитрий
Package: apt-xapian-index
Version: 0.46
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi, it's my first Debian bugreport!
I've just installed fresh Debian Testing. After normal installation I've just
installed apt-xapian-index for fast search in Synaptic and it's recommends, but
it fails instead of working. Here is log:

dima@kali:~$ uname -a
Linux kali 3.12-1-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.12.6-2 (2013-12-29) i686 GNU/Linux
dima@kali:~$ sudo update-apt-xapian-index

I didn't modify any system's file or something like this, so this must be very
reproducible.

Bug#736498: src:libgringotts: FTBFS on s390x

2014-01-24 Thread Markus Koschany
Source: libgringotts
Version: 1:1.2.1-13

Dear maintainer,

currently libgringotts FTBFS on s390x thus preventing osmo, a reverse
dependency, from migrating to testing. The binary package libgringotts built
successfully in the past (but was then built by src:gringotts).

The log files indicate that some pointers differ in signedness. They
were declared as unsigned chars but in fact char * is used instead.
