Bug#742940: since: Does not work on mips (includes test suite failures and FTBFS)

2014-03-29 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: since
Version: 1.1-4
Severity: serious
Tags: upstream

Package version 1.1-4 added a build-time test-suite which revealed
that since on mips does not work properly:

$ echo foo  foo
$ since foo
foo
$ since foo
since: considering foo to be truncated, displaying from start
foo
$

Expected behaviour would be:

$ echo foo  foo
$ since foo
foo
$ since foo
$

I'll contact upstream about this and #591386 and if we don't find a
proper fix that soonish, I'll probably drop these two architectures
from the package.

Given the different symptoms, I suspect that this issue and #591386
(does not work on Hurd) are different issues.

Regards, Axel

This situation repeat with nouveau + mesa9.

Boot with nouveau.noaccel=1 kernel parameter. If that does not help,

Bug#735530: samhain: FTBFS on amd64 and kfreebsd

2014-03-29 Thread Adam Conrad
Package: samhain
Version: 3.1.0-5
Followup-For: Bug #735530
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu trusty ubuntu-patch

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * Configure with disable-asm on amd64 targets to work around FTBFS.
  * Build-depend on autotools-dev to always update config.{sub,guess}

Obviously, upstream fixing their asm would be better than disabling it,
but this works around the FTBFS nicely. Tacked on to this diff is also
updating build-deps to add autotools-dev so that builds on new arches
get config.{sub, guess} automatically without you needing to do a fresh
upload to update the diff.

2014-03-29 Thread Willem van den Akker
H Boris,

Thanks for the feedback. I will make the changes.

By the way. How did you get the lintian error? Mine doesnt
report any errors.
Is there a tool which lists all different copyright licenses in
all files? I searched but could not find one. Or have I to check
all files by hand?

Regards,
Willem

 Hi,

Is someone willing to upload the new version of the package?
  It close a bug.
  The package is here: git://anonscm.debian.org/pkg-xmpp/jabberd2.git

At first you should fix lintian error tag:
   E: jabberd2 source: source-is-missing docs/code/jquery.js
In other case this package will be rejected by buildd bot after upload.

Next you should update debian/copyright: it is not full now.
For example, there are no such copyright holders in it:
   Tomasz Sterna
   Adam Strzelecki
   Free Software Foundation
   Internet Software Consortium
   Aladdin Enterprises
   BBN Technologies Corp.
   Kungliga Tekniska Hgskolan
   X Consortium
   Christof Meerwald
   Lucas Nussbaum
   Ubiquecom Inc
   Harald Braumann
   Cryptography Research, Inc.
   Daniel Willmann
   Kevlin Henney
   Nicholas J Humfrey
   SKC, Inc
   The Apache Group.
Also there are files under different licenses and they should be described
 properly.

Severity: grave

Hi

Disclaimer: have set the severity to grave as it renders for me an
non-working network connection (but I'm unable to replicate the
problem on a second system -- but with a different setup).

After updating network-manager from 0.9.8.0-5 to 0.9.8.8-4 which
entered unstable network-manger looses the network connection.
Selecting in the Wifi-Connection the desired connection leads to:

Failed to add/activate connection
(32) No session found for uid 1000 (unknown)

Downgrading to network-manager/0.9.8.0-5 (and restarting the service)
works. libpam-systemd is installed (204-8).

Bug#722362: Updating the Ruby packaging policy for your package «libroot-bindings-ruby-dev»

2014-03-29 Thread Hideki Yamane
Hi,

Those RC bugs with Ruby1.8 dependency would be solved by rebuilding with
 current ruby-default as 1.9.1.

I've tried it and its dependency is set as ruby1.9.1-dev as below

 henrich@hp:~/tmp/build $ LANG=C dpkg --info
 libroot-bindings-ruby-dev_5.34.14-1_amd64.deb
(snip)
  Package: libroot-bindings-ruby-dev
  Source: root-system
  Version: 5.34.14-1
  Architecture: amd64
  Maintainer: Debian Science Maintainers
 debian-science-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
  Installed-Size: 89
  Depends: libroot-bindings-ruby5.34 (= 5.34.14-1), libroot-core-dev,
 ruby1.9.1-dev | ruby-dev (= 4.9)
(snip)

Of course we should deal with bump up default Ruby version to 2.0, 2.1
in the future, but anyway now we should eliminate dependency with ruby1.8
so please consider to push package (or binNMU?).

I think with your hints I found the culprit. I use slim as login
manager. And slim has a regression where it is not build with pam:
#742904. Rebuilding again slim with PAM enabled now shows that I have
a proper logind session (to answer also your follow-up question: yes,
libpam-systemd was enabled).

Now also all 4 combinations

network-manager 0.9.8.0-5 + sysvinit
network-manager 0.9.8.0-5 + systemd
network-manager 0.9.8.8-4 + sysvinit
network-manager 0.9.8.8-4 + systemd

works.

Regards,
Salvatore

(Just open is why with broken slim and previous network-manager,
network-manager still worked).

Please send me a full log when this happens. Stop the running
NetworkManager instance and run it in the foreground

  NetworkManager --no-daemon

Do you have a proper logind session registered? What's the output of
  loginctl list-sessions
  loginctl session-status my_session_id

I think with your hints I found the culprit. I use slim as login
manager. And slim has a regression where it is not build with pam:
#742904. Rebuilding again slim with PAM enabled now shows that I have
a proper logind session (to answer also your follow-up question: yes,
 libpam-systemd was enabled).

And so doing also a reassign to the slim package (marking affecting
network-manager).

@slim maintainers: Not sure about the bug severity now, as slim is not
unusable or mostly so for the bug severities. But it should probably
still be RC?

Salvatore

Dang. The last change was a pretty innocent (and otherwise very useful) patch
by Don (CC'ed) -- see #741297 for more on that.

And the 'SHLIB_LIBADD' rings a bell, but I cannot recall where / how else we
fixed that :-/ I fear this is an arm-and-R issue, not a Rmpi issue. Eg on
amd64 box:

edd@max:~/src/debian/CRAN/Rmpi-0.6-3$ grep SHLIB_LIBADD /etc/R/Makeconf
SHLIB_LIBADD =
ALL_LIBS = $(PKG_LIBS) $(SHLIB_LIBADD) $(LIBR)# $(LIBINTL)
edd@max:~/src/debian/CRAN/Rmpi-0.6-3$

[ Ok, goes digging some more. ]

Bug #679180 was all about this already, so it is a regression.

HOWEVER this very issue is also said to be addressed in R 3.1.0. From its
NEWS file

* Some bugs in TRE have been corrected by updating from the git
repository. This allows R to be installed on some platforms for
which this was a blocker (PR#15087 suggests Linux on ARM and
  HP-UX).

Here #15087 is a ticket in R's bugzilla.

Could you try with the r-base-core 3.0.3.20140328-1 build I uploaded
yesterday?

Package: python-gst-1.0-dbg
Version: 1.1.90-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer.

python-gst-1.0-dbg currently ships
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gi/overrides/_gi_gst.so
file, which is also present in python-gst-1.0.

I am not sure how Gi overrides work, but in normal Python 2.x packages such
debug
files usually have _d suffix, i.e. _gi_gst_d.so (that is usually done by
dh_python2).
Take a look at python-cairo-dbg or python-sip-dbg for an example.

Also, I would expect python-gst-1.0-dbg to contain debug symbols stripped from
python-gst-1.0, i.e.
/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gi/overrides/_gi_gst.so.

This bug does not affect Python 3.x version of the package, where the naming is
proper.

Package: python-gst-1.0-dbg

Severity: important

Dear Maintainer.

python-gst-1.0-dbg currently ships
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gi/overrides/_gi_gst.so
file, which is also present in python-gst-1.0.

I am not sure how Gi overrides work, but in normal Python 2.x packages such
debug
files usually have _d suffix, i.e. _gi_gst_d.so (that is usually done by
dh_python2).
Take a look at python-cairo-dbg or python-sip-dbg for an example.

Also, I would expect python-gst-1.0-dbg to contain debug symbols stripped from
python-gst-1.0, i.e.
/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gi/overrides/_gi_gst.so.

This bug does not affect Python 3.x version of the package, where the naming is
proper.

Source: rudeconfig
Version: 5.0.5-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

Builds of rudeconfig on [linux-]i386 and kfreebsd-i386, and presumably
hurd-i386 as well, fail with an interesting error (shown below for i386).
The problem appears to be that rudeconfig's ltmain.sh comes from an old
version of libtool (1.5.22, from December 2005) that lacks proper regexp
metacharacter escaping when canonicalizing the compiler version (4.6 at
present), wrongly transforming i486-* path components into i4.6-*.

Updating ltmain.sh wholesale fixes the error, provided you also run
aclocal and autoconf to resync the rest of the build system.

Could you please take a look?

Thanks!

Bug#742590: gnat-4.9: FTBFS on powerpc, Storage_Error in two source files

2014-03-29 Thread Nicolas Boulenguez
Package: src:gnat-4.9
Followup-For: Bug #742590

At least three failures affect build/gcc/ada/rts-static-zcx.
A 54 compiler segfault when optimization is asked.
B 106 warnings (= errors with -gnatg), mostly about conversions
  between types with different sizes.
C 46 errors caused by the same problem:
s-osinte.ads:590:07: size for Address too small, minimum allowed is 64

Investigating the latter, I have found a bug in build/gcc/xgcc.
Standard'Address_Size should match System.Address'Size but does not:
# debian/rules binary-arch
... fails
# cd build/gcc/ada/rts-static-zcx
# cat hello.ads EOF
with System;
package Hello is
   Standard_Address_Size : constant Integer := Standard'Address_Size;
   System_Address_Size   : constant Integer := System.Address'Size;
end Hello;
EOF
# ../../xgcc -B../.. -c -gnatpg -nostdinc hello.ads -gnatG | grep address_size
  hello__standard_address_size : constant integer := 32;
  hello__system_address_size : constant integer := 64;

In case this helps others, I attach a diff listing which file is

Bug#742963: libmm-qt: unbuildable on !linux

2014-03-29 Thread Maximiliano Curia
In article
20140329133652.GA19942__27603.5991184928$1396100372$gmane$o...@betterave.cristau.org
 you wrote:
your package is no longer buildable on !linux because of an
 unsatisfiable build-dep on modemmanager-dev.

libmm-qt is a modemmanager wrapper for plasma-nm, if modemmanager is not
available it makes no sense to build libmm-qt.

The same applies to network-manager and plasma-nm. If modemmanager and
network-manager readd the support for !linux, libmm-qt, libnm-qt and plasma-nm
would maybe require a binnmu to get build.

Do you think there is anything else we could do?

Bug#742894: Incomplete debian/copyright [was: Uploading package(s)]

2014-03-29 Thread Boris Pek
Hi,

By the way. How did you get the lintian error? Mine doesnt
 report any errors.

lintian -ivIE --pedantic jabberd2_2.2.17-2_i386.changes ./lintian.log

And as a maintainer you should always use the latest lintian version for
testing of your packages. Currently it is 2.5.22.

Is there a tool which lists all different copyright licenses in
all files? I searched but could not find one. Or have I to check
 all files by hand?

There are few tools which may help you. For example, you may use licensecheck
from package devscripts. Just run command:
licensecheck --copyright -c . -r .
or even:
licensecheck --copyright -c . -r . | /usr/lib/cdbs/licensecheck2dep5
./copyright_
in the sources directory.

But have in mind that its output includes not full info and all blocks with
Copyright: *No copyright* and License: UNKNOWN should be checked manually.

Also I would recommend to sort all blocks by license, instead of specific files
or copyright holders. In this case debian/copyright file will be simpler.

Yes, this is tiresome and not fun, but this is the part of maintainers work.

Best regards,
Boris

Bug#740097: nVidia driver 304.121 does NOT solve issues

2014-03-29 Thread Benjamin Krause
My configuration is nearly identical to those mentioned above:

`# uname -a
Linux obx-056-ws 3.13-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.13.5-1 (2014-03-04) x86_64
GNU/Linux`

`# lspci | grep VGA
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G71 [GeForce 7900
GT/GTO] (rev a1)`

There no 'nvidia' packages listed in dpkg.

I received the 'acpi_os_wait in logs.

Problem began immediately upon 'apt-get dist-upgrade' to 3.13-1-amd64.

I installed that last proprietary drive from nVidia
'NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-304.121.run' which I downloaded directly form them. I
was unable to get it to install using DKMS so had to install without.
 Otherwise installation went without event.

It now boots directly into KDE desktop without issue, flashing the nVidia
splash screen. It seems to be working normally until I push it a little
with OpenGL. After running for about a minute or so while requiring OpenGL
(not sure if its OpenGL or just because of heavy rendering load) it starts
to lag fast, until within a few seconds it's no longer usable. After
waiting a few minutes for the close application instructions to be
executed, it then goes back appearing normal again. This effect is also
seen when requesting full screen video, another heavy rendering task.

This behavior is identical to what I received when I previously installed
304.117 with the section in nv_acpi.c commented out and tested it. This
makes me wonder if nVidia just released the same driver with this patch in
it... possibly not addressing the problem adequately.

Bug#742990: [ckeditor] Missing sources

2014-03-29 Thread bastien ROUCARIES
Package: ckeditor
version: 3.0+dfsg0-0.1
user: debian...@lists.debian.org
usertags: source-is-missing
user: lintian-maint@d.o
usertags: source-is-missing
severity: serious
X-Debbugs-CC: ftpmas...@ftp-master.debian.org

Dear package maintainer, dear ftpmaster,

Ckeditor package seems to include some files that lacks source
in prefered forms of modification.

*.js (minified)

According to Debian Free Software Guidelines [1] (DFSG) §2:
The program must include source code, and must allow distribution
in source code as well as compiled form..

This could also constitute a license violation for some copyleft licenses such
as the GNU GPL (It is the case GPL/LGPL/MPL need the source so cc ftpmaster)

In order to solve this problem, you could:
1. repack the origin tarball adding the missing source to it.
2 add the source files to debian/missing-sources directory

Both way satisfies the requirement that we ship the source. Second option
might be preferable due to the following reasons [2]:
 - Upstream can do it too and you could even supply a patch to them, thus full
filling our social contract [3], see particularly §2.
 - If source and non-source are in different locations, ftpmasters may
miss the source and (needlessly) reject the package.
 - The source isn't duplicated in every .diff.gz/.debian.tar.* (though
this only really matters for larger sources).

If this is a false-positive, please report a bug against Lintian.

You could also ask debian-qa for more guidance.

In this case it seems svn is the only part of upstream that include source.

libmm-qt is a modemmanager wrapper for plasma-nm, if modemmanager is not
available it makes no sense to build libmm-qt.

The same applies to network-manager and plasma-nm. If modemmanager and
network-manager readd the support for !linux, libmm-qt, libnm-qt and plasma-nm
would maybe require a binnmu to get build.

Do you think there is anything else we could do?

If libmm-qt doesn't make sense on !linux then you need to get its out of

Bug#742691: New version of python-biom-format (Was: Bug#742691: please make robust against ad-hoc (pre/post released) versions of cython)

Hi Tim,

No, I did not. I just realised that this also has moved. To bad if
projects are moving and our watch files are pointing to the wrong
location. Since it might perfectly be the cause of the problem I could
try to do this today evening / night if nobody will beat me.

So pyqi is updated to the latest version in unstable and while biom
was *running* with this latest version installed it does not *build*
any more with this new version as (Build-)Depends.

Any idea?

Kind regards

Package: libwine-bin,wine-bin
Version: 1.6.2-2
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  jessie - sid
  wheezy - sid
  wheezy - jessie

For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both
packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are
upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets
removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too,
including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen.

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.2)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.mainstscript.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

From the attached log (usually somewhere in the middle...):

0m56.4s ERROR: FAIL: silently overwrites files via directory symlinks:
  /usr/share/doc/libwine-bin/changelog.Debian.gz (libwine-bin) !=

Bug#742590: gnat-4.9: FTBFS on powerpc, Storage_Error in two source files

2014-03-29 Thread Nicolas Boulenguez
Package: src:gnat-4.9
Followup-For: Bug #742590
Control: retitle -1 FTBFS on powerpc, wrong System.Address'Size
Control: tags -1 + pending

Revision b1ec15211bb78fd840cc96b500d13e5f1531f9b8 fixes this issue.

In order to help next newcomer to modify flags for specific sources,
please consider applying or forwarding the attached diff.
Two points deserve review:
* debian/ada-symbolic-tracebacks.diff adds this line:
  +convert_addresses.o : convert_addresses.c
I believe this is redundant and can safely be removed.
* the recipe for tracebak.o inserts -fno-omit-frame-pointer after
INCLUDES, and my diff inserts it after ALL_COMPILERFLAGS.
I believe that flags ordering does not matter here.

Dear Olivier, et al.:

Please see Daira Hopwood's proposal:

https://tahoe-lafs.org/trac/tahoe-lafs/ticket/2208#comment:3

Steps 1, 2, and 3 should be done by Tahoe-LAFS upstream and steps 4,

steps in parallel with us while we do our three steps!

First let me say I am a user, not the maintainer. However, this package
seems to have been abandoned by its maintainer. There have been no version
changes since August 2013. Is it possible to give someone else the
responsibility of packaging this DE?

Thanks,

It is my hope that someone will be able to adopt this package to start
making regular updates again. I miss having a usable cinnamon!
