Bug#744921: spamassassin: Daily cron script wants to set a shared library world writable

2014-04-16 Thread filip
Confirmed. It's the chmod in Install.pm that does it.

I can reproduce it as follows:

- first run "sa-compile" as root. body_0.so is owned by root after that
- next run 'su debian-spamd -c "sa-compile --quiet"', the message about
chmod is generated, but the permissions end up correct.

After commenting out the chmod in Install.pm and repeating the
sa-compiles as above, the message is gone. Remove the comment and the
message is back.

sub _unlink_or_rename { #XXX OS-SPECIFIC
my ( $file, $tryhard, $installing )= @_;

# _chmod( 0666, $file );
my $unlink_count = 0;
while (unlink $file) { $unlink_count++; }
return $file if $unlink_count > 0;
...

So it looks that they way it is used above is not so harmful afterall,
but it stll seems like a strange construct. I can't immediately see what
purpose it serves to change the permissions of a file before unlinking it.

Bug#744975: xul-ext-https-everywhere: all rules lost?

The CACert rules are still there, just disabled by default.

> Anyway...as the screenshot shows basically all but a few other rules
> seem to be gone as well... o.O

The rules are there. If you visit you will
notice that HTTPS Everywhere will rewrite the URL… and the URL will be
shown in the rule list.

I agree this is a major inconvenience though, especially if you wish to
renable CACert-supported rules.

Bug#744398: [Pkg-sysvinit-devel] Bug#744398: startpar modifies /etc/init/startpar-bridge.conf

2014-04-16 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
Control: retitle -1 debsums causes piuparts to claim all packages modified
migrated conffile /etc/init/startpar-bridge.conf

Looking at the debsums bugs, I suspect this is the same problem
reported in http://bugs.debian.org/689508 > on 2012-10-03.

The problem at hand now is that sysvinit-utils owned the conffile
/etc/init/startpar-bridge.conf, which was migrated to the startpar
package and changed there. This causes debsums to claim the file was
changed, because dpkg claim both packages own the file now,
sysvinit-utils with an obsolete ownership, and startpar with a current
ownership. I believe it should ignore the obsolete file and only look
at the check sum of the current file.

Hi,

Your package seems to include some files that lacks source
in prefered forms of modification.

include/js/jsval.js
include/js/mycalendar.js
include/js/window.js
every js file under include/js/tinymce -> please use packaged tinymce

According to Debian Free Software Guidelines [1] (DFSG) §2:
 "The program must include source code, and must allow distribution
  in source code as well as compiled form.".

This could also constitute a license violation for some copyleft licenses such
as the GNU GPL.

In order to solve this problem, you could:
1. repack the origin tarball adding the missing source to it.
2 add the source files to "debian/missing-sources" directory

Both way satisfies the requirement that we ship the source. Second option
might be preferable due to the following reasons [2]:
 - Upstream can do it too and you could even supply a patch to them, thus full
filling our social contract [3], see particularly §2.
 - If source and non-source are in different locations, ftpmasters may
   miss the source and (needlessly) reject the package.
 - The source isn't duplicated in every .diff.gz/.debian.tar.* (though
   this only really matters for larger sources).

You could also ask debian-qa for more guidance.

package: src:samba4

severity: serious

The samba4 source package in wheezy contains a beta version of samba 4.0. Most
samba functionality is disabled in this package, because it is provided by the
samba package (version 3.6.6) in wheezy. Only the samba AD DC functionality is
enabled, but it is severely limited.

There is no security support for this beta version of samba. It is vulnerable
to a number of public issues.

The samba4 package in wheezy is not suitable for usage in a production
environment. It should not have been released with wheezy.

As of version 0.10.0-1, recently uploaded to unstable, gexiv2 no
longer provides gir1.2-gexiv2-0.4, which has been superseded by
gir1.2-gexiv2-0.10.

Please consider replacing gir1.2-gexiv2-0.4 dependency with
gir1.2-gexiv2-0.10 in your next upload.

Cheers,
Luca

However, the code in ruby-gsl (file linalg_complex.c) tries to change

Bug#744921: spamassassin: Daily cron script wants to set a shared library world writable

2014-04-16 Thread Bob Proulx
Roger Dover wrote:
> The script wants to set a shared library world writable.
> This is a security risk.

Thank you for the report. However I am not sure this is actually a
problem. Also please say how you instrumented your system in order to
have received that error notification.

I believe the chmod you are referencing is not actually in sa-compile.
I think it is in Perl's Install.pm which is part of the perl-modules
package. It does this immediately before unlinking the target file.

In /usr/share/perl/5.14.2/ExtUtils/Install.pm file:

sub _unlink_or_rename { #XXX OS-SPECIFIC
my ( $file, $tryhard, $installing )= @_;

_chmod( 0666, $file );
my $unlink_count = 0;
while (unlink $file) { $unlink_count++; }
return $file if $unlink_count > 0;
...

Therefore there isn't much way for an attacker to attack those files
since they are unlinked immediately afterward. However if there is
then this bug should be assigned to the perl-modules package owning
the Install.pm file.

It would be good if you as the issue reporter could verify this since
you have already instrumented your system for the test. I suggest
temporarily setting up the test by editing your local copy of the file
/usr/share/perl/5.14.2/ExtUtils/Install.pm to comment out the chmod
line note above. If after doing that you no longer see those
notifications then you have verified that the issue is the presense of
those lines in the Install.pm file. You can restore the original file
after the completion of the test.

Please report your findings.

Bob

Bug#741705: insserv: Lots of errors and dependency loops preventing update or upgrade

Control: merge -1 738775

After looking closer, I am quite sure #738775 and #741705 is the same
issue.  Merging.

A fix was uploaded to experimental a few minutes ago. I disabled the
systemd integration completely. It will need a closer look before
being enabled again. :)

Cloning and reassigning this also to the src:mysql-5.6 source package
as some of the CVEs also affect explicitly mysql-5.6.

package: gnat-4.9

severity: serious

Hi,

The upload of gnat-4.9 in unstable build-depends on 'gnat-4.9 | gnat-4.6 (>=
4.6.4-2) | gnat (>= 4.1)' and 'gnat-4.9 | gnat-4.6 (>= 4.6.4-2) | gnat (<<
4.6.1)'. As the buildds only look at the first alternative build-dependency,
it is not buildable on any architecture.

Cheers,

Ivo

Package: python-pyaudio
Version: 0.2.7-2+b1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

during a dist-upgrade I got:

Unpacking python-setuptools (3.4.1-1) over (3.3-1) ...
dpkg: error processing archive
/var/cache/apt/archives/python-setuptools_3.4.1-1_all.deb (--unpack): trying to
overwrite '/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/build', which is also in package
python-pyaudio 0.2.7-2+b1
dpkg-deb: error: subprocess paste was killed by signal (Broken pipe)

Forcing the install worked. I'm reporting this bug against pyaudio
because it seemed natural that the build directory should be in the
setuptools package.

Thank you,

Nicolas

Scratch that.

At first I was unable to find a machine that exhibited this bug, but
once I found one, the above solution seemed to be the fix. However,
what was happening was the first time nvvp was run, it would segfault.
Then the second and subsequent times it would open normally.
Running 'rm -rf ~/nvvp_workspace' would cause nvvp to segfault the
next time it was run.

I have now found another machine that segfaults every time nvvp is
run. The solution for this machine is to add the line below (without
the -D) to /usr/lib/nvidia-visual-profiler/configuration/config.ini.

org.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla

With the above fix in place, the machine that segfaulted the first
time nvvp was run, no longer segfaults after removing nvvp_workspace.

For the xinha may be it is time to package it for debian?

Thanks for finally investigating this. I tried a few times and gave up
as I couldn't find where this missing #endif should have been..:-)

Lowering the bug severity as it doesn't affect the package in the
archive.

Bug#744319: [dotlrn] [DFSG] missing source

2014-04-16 Thread Hector Romojaro
About the tinymce files
(packages/acs-templating/www/resources/tinymce/*), all of them have
their sources in a separate *_src.js file. For example:

* .../tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/fullscreen/editor_plugin.js
* .../tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/fullscreen/editor_plugin_src.js

...so these are all false positives.

However, there is an exception: tiny_mce_popup.js is generated from the
classes/Popup.js file, which is not included in the original tarball.

These file and others from xinha
(packages/acs-templating/www/resources/xinha-nightly/) will be included
in a "missing-sources" directory in the next upload.

Regards,

Héctor

Haven't you seen the shitstorm that happened on the net when we had just

I did :(.

So technically it's the easiest solution, but socially it's not.

Dear Release Team,

Please schedule a binNMU for scalapack on s390x.

The shared library of scalapack/s390x currently has unsatisfied shared library
dependencies:

  (sid_s390x-dchroot)sebastien@zelenka:~$ ldd /usr/lib/libscalapack-mpich2.so
  [...]
  libblacsCinit-mpich2.so.1 => not found
  libblacs-mpich2.so.1 => not found

  (sid_s390x-dchroot)sebastien@zelenka:~$ ls /usr/lib/libblacs*.so.1
  /usr/lib/libblacsCinit-mpich.so.1  /usr/lib/libblacsF77init-mpich.so.1
/usr/lib/libblacs-mpich.so.1

This state of affairs is due to the mpich2->mpich transition, which made
blacs-mpi change the name of its shared libraries (due to the way this package
handles the openmpi vs mpich archs).

Also note that this scalapack issue is causing petsc to FTBFS on s390x, and is
therefore blocking the ongoing superlu transition (but don't give back petsc,
it will need new a sourceful upload to get fixed).

nmu scalapack_1.8.0-9 . s390x . -m "rebuild against a blacs-mpi built against
MPICH 3"

Thanks,

Dear Maintainer,

Your blt package FTBFS against the Tcl/Tk packages from experimental because
they switched from shlibs to symbols and blt processes the shlibs files
manually.

Since currently blt doesn't link to several Tcl versions there's no need in
this complication. After removing call to debian/hackshlibs in debian/rules
the package starts building just fine. The minimal patch is attached.

The full build log is available from:

http://aws-logs.debian.net/ftbfs-logs/2014/02/08/haskell-ncurses_0.2.1-4_unstable.log

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on EC2 VM instances from
Amazon Web Services, using a clean, minimal and up-to-date chroot. Every
failed build was retried once to eliminate random failures.

Hi,

mongodb FTBFS on kfreebsd-i386, but has built there in the past.
According to the buildd log, it appears to be caused by test failures.
Tail of said log is:

 Unfortunately MongoDB self-tests need lot of disk space (several
gigabytes). It has a pre-check which warns, but goes on and just fails
after a short period of time. Then, even if seemingly you've enough
free disk space, the tests may fill that. Then you'll have the same
mystic test fails. As buildds have unknown disk and may build parallel
packages and considering the mentioned testcase problems builds may
fail. Will try to make local test builds on i386 / x64 for Linux and
kFreeBSD as well if that fails on the buildd. But please don't count
on it. :(
Anyway, the new upstream release 2.4.10 just built successfully on
kfreebsd-i386 and closing this bugreport now.

Bug#741738: zoneminder: stream sock error: No such file or directory

2014-04-16 Thread Luigi Cirillo
Of course, I installed zoneminder on Jessie, I use it only for testing
purpose so in a local network. All devices are connected through WiFi.
The camera is an Ip camera Foscam like.
Everything work on Wheezy, instead.

Package: xul-ext-greasemonkey
Version: 1.15-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Control: fixed -1 1.14-1

Dear Maintainer,

iceweasel 24 recently hit stable-security (and is therefore expected to
enter stable at the next point release).

Unfortunately the version of xul-ext-greasemonkey currently in stable is
unusable with iceweasel 24 (the (user)scripts are not run).

I’d welcome a confirmation of the issue before asking for a
stable-update.

Cheers,

David
