Bug#744921: spamassassin: sa-update/sa-compile fail to set the correct ownership when run root

Either way, this bug should probably be re-assigned with Severity: minor
to perl, or closed altogether...

Yes, I think the severity can be lowered, but I wouldn't assign it perl
yet. I think the real problem is that sa-update and/or sa-compile create
files owned by root when they are run as root, which leads to strange
permission problems when the cron script runs later on.

Running sa-update as root is what is recommended in Readme.Debian, but
the cron script switches to debian-spamd.

I would change the title accordingly: sa-update/sa-compile fail to set
the correct ownership when run root

The build still fails on all architectures. There is probably something that
happens in the local build in your environment that doesn't work on the

Hi,

The upload of gnat-4.9 in unstable build-depends on 'gnat-4.9 | gnat-4.6 (=
4.6.4-2) | gnat (= 4.1)' and 'gnat-4.9 | gnat-4.6 (= 4.6.4-2) | gnat (
4.6.1)'. As the buildds only look at the first alternative build-dependency,
it is not buildable on any architecture.

Cheers,

Bug#743976: php5-json: Missing package dependencies prevent package removal

2014-04-19 Thread Hiroyuki Yamamoto
Control: reopen -1

I think this bug is not fixed,
because php5-json real package is preferentially installed
than virtual package provided by php5-common.

I think that this bug is not solved until php5-json real package is removed
form repository, or php5-common don't depend to php5-json.

Bug#745233: libhogweed2: should have versioned depend on newer libgmp10

2014-04-19 Thread Ivo De Decker
package: libhogweed2
version: 2.7.1-2
severity: serious

Hi,

The new nettle upload contains a version of libhogweed2 which uses symbols
from the new version (6.0.0) of libgmp10, but it doesn't have a versioned
dependency. This means it's possible to install libhogweed2 with an older
version of libgmp10, but this doesn't work.

This also makes builds fail:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=sambaarch=i386ver=2%3A4.1.7%2Bdfsg-1stamp=1397911283

Cheers,

It is right that php5-common doesn't provide php5-json

Bug#722465: qtsmbstatus-server: fails to install due to insserv rejecting the script header

2014-04-19 Thread Ivo De Decker
Control: reassign -1 qtsmbstatus-server 2.2.1-2

Hi Petter,

On Fri, Apr 18, 2014 at 08:15:03AM +0200, Petter Reinholdtsen wrote:
I had a look at this bug report for qtsmbstatus-server, in the belief
that the problem was easy to fix:

   Setting up qtsmbstatus-server (2.2.1-2) ...
insserv: Service samba has to be enabled to start service qtsmbstatusd
   insserv: exiting now!
update-rc.d: error: insserv rejected the script header
   dpkg: error processing qtsmbstatus-server (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

But that proved to be wrong. The qtsmbstatus-server package depend on
the samba package, which include the samba init.d script with a
'Provides: samba' in place. I also tested to install the
qtsmbstatus-server package in sid and noticed the installation failure
also happened there. Looking closer, the problem is that the samba
init.d script is not enabled by default:

   ### BEGIN INIT INFO
   # Provides: samba
   # Required-Start:smbd nmbd
   # Required-Stop: smbd nmbd
   # Default-Start:
   # Default-Stop:
   # Short-Description: ensure Samba daemons are started (nmbd and smbd)
   ### END INIT INFO

This causes update-rc.d to not add any start and stop symlinks during
package installation, and thus qtsmbstatus-server is unable to find the
required service during boot and package installation.

Is this a bug in samba? In that case, I suggest changing the
Default-Start and Default-Stop lines to list runlevels like this:

   # Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
   # Default-Stop: 1

The samba init script only exists for backward compatibility. The services are
started by the snmd and nmbd init scripts (when running in 'old' mode), or by
the samba-ad-dc init script (when running in samba AD DC mode). Depending on
smbd isn't really a solution, because that will not have the right result when
running in samba AD DC mode (the smbd init script will exit successfully, but
won't do anything in that case). Depending on both smbd and samba-ad-dc might
be an option (this will ensure that the smbd functionality is available,
whatever the mode samba is running in).

If not, I suggest to change qtsmbstatus-server like this, to make the
 samba init.d dependency optional:

 diff --git a/debian/qtsmbstatus-server.qtsmbstatusd.init
 b/debian/qtsmbstatus-server.qtsmbstatusd.init
 index eff0e48..965fb16 100644
 --- a/debian/qtsmbstatus-server.qtsmbstatusd.init
 +++ b/debian/qtsmbstatus-server.qtsmbstatusd.init
 @@ -5,8 +5,9 @@
  # For LSB
  ### BEGIN INIT INFO
  # Provides: qtsmbstatusd
 -# Required-Start:$remote_fs $syslog samba
 +# Required-Start:$remote_fs $syslog
  # Required-Stop: $remote_fs $syslog
 +# Should-Start: samba
  # Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
  # Default-Stop: 0 1 6
  # Short-Description: start qtsmbstatusd server at boot time

This might also be an option.

I am passing on the bug report to samba or their view. Please send it
back if samba is correct and should not start by default any more.

As it is intentional that the samba init script isn't started by default, I'm
sending it back.

Cheers,

Ivo

Interesting bug.
* It failed on the buildds.

* It also works for me (cowbuilder sid amd64).
* dod seems to imply in https://github.com/PerlGameDev/SDL/issues/260

Where does this leave us?

Hi Thomas and Ivo,

The build still fails on all architectures. There is probably something that
happens in the local build in your environment that doesn't work on the
 buildds.
I'm afraid that's the problem.

I managed to rebuild the package on fresh i386 and amd64 cowbuild env
with no problem.

Bug#745233: libhogweed2: should have versioned depend on newer libgmp10

2014-04-19 Thread Magnus Holmgren
lördagen den 19 april 2014 15.21.21 skrev Ivo De Decker:
The new nettle upload contains a version of libhogweed2 which uses symbols
from the new version (6.0.0) of libgmp10, but it doesn't have a versioned
dependency. This means it's possible to install libhogweed2 with an older
version of libgmp10, but this doesn't work.

That kind of thing should never happen; that's what we have shlibs and symbols
files for. Do you know if there's any reason that libgmp10 doesn't include a
symbols file and/or declare new a minimum version in it's shlibs file?

 Hi Thomas and Ivo,

The build still fails on all architectures. There is probably something that
happens in the local build in your environment that doesn't work on the

 I'm afraid that's the problem.

I managed to rebuild the package on fresh i386 and amd64 cowbuild env
 with no problem.

 Best regards,

Hi Goneri,

Yes, I did rebuild it also in a fresh amd64 cowbuilder env as well. In
fact, that's what does Jenkins each time I push (it even rebuilds for
Wheezy, Precise and Trusty), but out of options, I did try to setup a
completely new Sid environment using Cowbuilder. And it did work as
well, which is weird.

So now, I really don't get what is happening with the buildds, and why
they don't have binaries in $(CURDIR)/debian/subunit/usr/bin/* just
right after dh_python3 happens (eg: see the log, this is what this bug
is about, and IMO it has very little to do with my system being
up-to-date or not).

Yes, I could try to get myself setup with sbuild, but I'm not sure it
would help to understand what's going on. :(

Does anyone have a clue?

Cheers,

Thomas Goirand (zigo)

Dear Maintainer,

When building ruby-marisa with Ruby 2.0, it ends up installing files
into either /build/... or /usr/local/, both of which are violations of
policy.

Please update your package so that it can be built with the current
Ruby interpreter versions (2.0 and 2.1). For your convenience, the
package ruby-all-dev depends on all current interpreter versions.

Thanks,
