Bug#750811: brltty: FTBFS on kfreebsd*

2014-06-06 Thread Paul Gevers
On 07-06-14 07:15, Scott Kitterman wrote:

Issue seems unrelated to python3.3 transition:
/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/include/jni.h:52:20: fatal error: jni_md.h: No
such file or directory
 #include "jni_md.h"

My understanding is that the file should come from gcj-4.*-jdk which we
like to pull in via build-dep default-jdk. However, on kfreebsd* that is
rather a low version. I have no knowledge of java at all, but I expect
the default-jdk to be so low for a reason. /do we need to explicitly add
the gcj package for kfreebsd*?

Thank you very much for reporting this. I should have reviewed the code
when I took over the maintenance.

I'm reaching out to Upstream for license clarification on certain files
that do not have a license declaration. I'll soon resolve this issue.

Package: src:vtk6
Version: 6.0.0-6
Severity: important
Tags: sid jessie
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-4.9

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.9/g++-4.9, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.8/g++-4.8. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/failed-gcc49/vtk6_6.0.0-6_unstable_gcc49.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.9, either set CC=gcc-4.9 CXX=g++-4.9 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures
with -Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols
files. For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide
at http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.9/porting_to.html

Package: libvtk6
Version: 6.1.0+dfsg-3
Severity: serious

libvtk6 package is a bad copy/paste from libvtk5 package. It does not
use proper SOVERSION naming as required by debian policy

https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-sharedlibs.html#s-sharedlibs-runtime
[...]
The run-time shared library must be placed in a package whose name
changes whenever the SONAME of the shared library changes. This allows
several versions of the shared library to be installed at the same
time, allowing installation of the new version of the shared library
without immediately breaking binaries that depend on the old version.
Normally, the run-time shared library and its SONAME symlink should be
placed in a package named librarynamesoversion, where soversion is the
version number in the SONAME of the shared library. Alternatively, if
it would be confusing to directly append soversion to libraryname (if,
for example, libraryname itself ends in a number), you should use
libraryname-soversion instead.
[...]

Please rename package to libvtk6.1, I believe this also affects
libvtk6-dev package.

Bug#748545: Does not work - starts, but does nothing

2014-06-06 Thread hermann meyer

Hi

gxtuner works here without problems.

Do you use jack with rt-priory ?
the pitch-tracker thread in gxtuner runs usually with jack-priory -6, so
a lower priory then jack itself and all other jack-aware apps. This is
done to never conflict with other audio threads which may work on
critical (real-time) data.
If you use jack with a to low rt-priory, or without rt-rights, it may be
that the pitch-tracker thread never get finished before the time-line ends.

greets
hermann

... this one too. Looks like this also has no full text of the MPL.

(This one's README mentions the GPL and LGPL thing, so nice!)

I won't file the bugs on the rest, does neither of us any good. Mind
checking all the ones that have this template out a bit more carefully?

Thanks oddles,

Heyya maintainers,

During routine processing in NEW, I discovered an incomplete / overly
minimal copyright file.

The copyright file basically states the source is tripple licensed MPL,
GPL and LGPL. Upstream source appears to just be MPL licensed.

In addition, the full text of the MPL is not present.

Please make an upload to fix this as soon as you can.

Thanks!

Thanks for looking into it. Reopening, lowering severity. (I'm aware
of at least one user that was relying on this and has been working
around the lack with every upgrade, and I believe fixing it would be
good for the maintainability of the package anyway.)

Dear maintainer,

We're aiming to migrate the archive to using wxwidgets3.0 instead of
wxwidgets2.8.

I've built and done some testing of your package (the UI seems to work
OK, but I don't have the hardware it seems to require) with the attached
patch to update it to build against wxwidgets3.0, and it all looks good.

I'm happy to NMU this change if you wish me to - just let me know.

Cheers,
Olly

OK, I've rescheduled it to 0-day.

Please give it a good test when you get the chance - I don't have the
hardware it works with, so I was only able to exercise some of the UI.

Cheers,

How do you configure your network? Do you use ifupdown vi
/etc/network/interfaces and if so, is the interface marked as auto or

Thanks Jakub.

fwiw, upstream (cc'ed here) has tried to resolve this differently:

Do you think the patch in https://bugs.debian.org/737571 is a better idea?

Looks good to me, I've just run the entire test suite with the new
TestServer.pm and all pass fine.

Bug#750643: antlr: missing licence for PyANTLR

2014-06-06 Thread Thorsten Glaser
wolfgang haefelinger dixit:

>Allright, so what is the procedure now to use
>http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html?

⇒ generic part

As copyright owner, all you have to do is to ensure that
the people distributing antlr include a LICENSE.txt file
in the Python subdirectory of their distribution which
states this fact.

You should also specify which version(s) of the licence.
For example:
• GPL version 1 only
• GPL version 1 or later
• GPL version 2 only
• GPL version 2 or later
• GPL version 3 only
• GPL version 3 or later

The “only” ones lead to interoperability problems, so
I suggest an “or later” version, as your software is
something usually combined with other code, i.e. a
library of sorts.

Using the GNU GPL will also make (the Python part of)
antlr incompatible with licences such as the EPL, which
are unfortunately common in the Java™ world. That being
said, I do not know why the antlr *.jar file includes
the Python code, as it does not need to. If the antlr
upstream distributes the binary *.jar file with it, this
will not be a problem.

⇒ Debian part

The Debian package maintainers can add the relevant
information, and possibly separate the Python part from
the Java™ part, by themselves, if you notify them of
this decision of yours (i.e. to use the GPL and which
versions). For this, replying to the Debian bug eMail
address is enough.

Of course, Debian would want to stay in sync with
upstream on this.

⇒ Upstream part

Please contact the people who develop antlr 2.x and
notify them of your decision, and ask them to release
an updated antlr version including the licence file,
and to prominently state this erratum on their website.

⇒ Other antlr versions

I’ve only looked at antlr 2.x (since coworkers at the
dayjob wanted to use this in a project of theirs, and
since it is in Debian). If antlr 3.x and/or 4.x also
include your code, please notify the people developing
those as well.

Thanks,
//mirabilos

Ah, ok.
Seems my reassign was premature then?

2014-06-06 Thread Debian Bug Tracking System
Your message dated Fri, 06 Jun 2014 18:37:03 +

and subject line Bug#746917: fixed in supercollider 1:3.6.3~repack-6
has caused the Debian Bug report #746917,
regarding supercollider: ftbfs with GCC-4.9
to be marked as done.

This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with.
If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the

Package: src:supercollider
Version: 1:3.6.3~repack-5
Severity: important
Tags: sid jessie
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-4.9

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.9/g++-4.9, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.8/g++-4.8. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/failed-gcc49/supercollider_3.6.3~repack-5_unstable_gcc49.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.9, either set CC=gcc-4.9 CXX=g++-4.9 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures
with -Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols
files. For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide
at http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.9/porting_to.html

After a bit more digging and understanding how the various modules were
working together I've discovered that:

1) HTTP::Server::Simple appears to be working as expected and as per RFC
whilst HTTP::Async was basically exploiting the fact that
HTTP::Server::Simple didn't comform to RFC so was able to use it as a
proxy which is now broken.

2) HTTP::Server::Simple has no idea it's being used as a proxy

3) The "proxy server" is implemented in
libhttp-async-perl/t/TestServer.pm [1]

> Maybe you could try and ask upstream about it?

I shall contact the Upstream Author of HTTP::Async first, as that
project has seen the latest activity.

HTTP::Server::Simple doesn't appear to have had any activity since May
2012 when 0.45_02 developer release was made.

Regards,

Daniel

No, dpkg source format "3.0 (quilt)" no more needs quilt itself. dpkg
has quilt functionality built-in.

Hi,

I also tried to fix this bug in some other ways, it turned out I could not
find better solution. I tested your patch on mips64el, amd64 and i386
ports, all works well.

Since there is a patch for the package aptitude, in my opinion quilt should
be added to Build-Depends, it is not included now.

Hi,

the clisp source package specifies a Build-Depends
libpq-dev [!hppa !ia64 !m68k !s390 s390x !mipsel !powerpc !powerpcspe],
libpcre3-dev, libdbus-1-dev [!hppa !ia64 !m68k !s390 !mipsel !powerpc
!powerpcspe

which contains both positive and negative architecture qualifiers
(s390x). This is invalid by Debian policy 7.1 (and, more important,
breaks tools relying on valid input).

It seems that the change was introduced in commit
ad4dfaf6ee7375cafe879cad78a81fccef3f1332 by Christoph Egger last monday.

I’d appreciate a cleanup upload.

Thanks,
Joachim

This seems to be not-so-correct package dependency in the debian/control
case which breaks with binNMU.

Now that upstream has 1.1 out there, it is time to upload new upstream
package anyway. Hmmm... it seems Guo Yixua is working in GIT.

Hi Mattias, since this bug report a lot of changes have appeared in gcc-4.9

nobody has been able to reproduce this problem.

Feel free to reopen if you can find a way to reliably reproduce this problem
again.

Closing to let the package reach testing

Thanks,

This relates to the following code change at line 687 in
lib/Server/Simple.pm

+# strip :// out of HTTP/1.1 requests
+$uri =~ s{^\w+://[^/]+/}{/};

Reading the related bug report [1] I'm not 100% certain that the patch
that was applied actually fixed the bug!

Now my technical knowledge when it comes to RFCs is somewhat lacking...
so I may well be wrong.

The bug [1] quotes RFC2616 saying:
> "To allow for transition to absoluteURIs in all requests in future versions
> of
> HTTP, all HTTP/1.1 servers MUST accept the absoluteURI form in requests, even
> though HTTP/1.1 clients will only generate them in requests to proxies."

The tests that were failing for libhttp-async-perl were specifically in
relation operation as a proxy. My initial idea is that the stripping
that was introduced shouldn't be applied if the server is running in
proxy mode.

But I may very well be wrong on this... so I'm open to suggestions from
the group.

Regards
Daniel

Dear maintainer,

We're aiming to migrate the archive to using wxwidgets3.0 instead of
wxwidgets2.8.

I've attempted to rebuild chipw by updating the BD to libwxgtk3.0-dev
but it the build fails due to various wx API changes.

Looking at the PTS, I see the last upload of chipw was actually an NMU I
did 2011-12-16 for the wx2.8 transition. There's not been an upstream
release since; I pinged the sparsely populated upstream IRC channel and
got a response, but there doesn't seem to be any development going on
upstream. Given the popcon score is 44 installs of which only 5 have
been used recently, I wonder if removal is the most sensible option?

Cheers,
Olly

Hi Benoit,

minidlna 1.1.3 claims support for libav10, so the patch is no longer
needed. Upgrading to the latest upstream release should fix this.

What --enable-stl does is make wxString derive from std::string, and
similarly for various wx container classes which have STL equivalents.
That means that making this change is inevitably going to break ABI
compatibility, so changing this is a lot more work than that one line
change might suggest; it would require rebuilding all applications using
wxwidgets3.0, and making sure they all still work.

I also worry that if one application needs wx built with --enable-stl,
others might fail with wx built with --enable-stl - the comment in
include/wx/setup_inc.h says "even at the cost of backwards
compatibility":

// Set wxUSE_STL to 1 to enable maximal interoperability with the standard
// library, even at the cost of backwards compatibility.
//
// Default is 0
//
// Recommended setting: 0 as the options below already provide a relatively
// good level of interoperability and changing this option arguably isn't worth
// diverging from the official builds of the library.

It also recommends leaving it set to 0.

So I'm afraid I don't think this is a change we can sanely make at this
point for wx3.0 in Debian. Back in November before the transition had
started it might have been feasible, but now there's already ~40
packages using wx3.0 in Debian, plus another 5 delayed NMUs and another
~10 tested patches filed in the BTS. That's a lot of testing to have to
repeat, and a lot of packages to potentially have to fix for
compatibility with --enable-stl.

What's the reason why poedit requires --enable-stl? Can it be patched
to work with a standard wx build?

Cheers,
Olly

Bug#750276: libhttp-async-perl: FTBFS: Tests failures

2014-06-06 Thread Daniel Lintott
Digging into this FTBFS, I've found the problem lies with
HTTP::Server::Simple which was recently updated.

Installing libhttp-server-simple-perl_0.44-1 from snapshots confirms this.

Somewhere in the new version of HTTP::Server::Simple the first half of
the URI is being lost.

Adding some debugging code to TestServer.pm with HTTP::Server::Simple
v0.44 we see the following request URIs:

> DEBUG: http://localhost:50794/foo/bar?redirect=2 at t/TestServer.pm line 151.
> DEBUG: http://localhost:50794/foo/bar?redirect=1 at t/TestServer.pm line 151.

With HTTP::Server::Simple v0.45.02 we see the following:

> DEBUG: /foo/bar?delay=1 at t/TestServer.pm line 151.
> DEBUG: /foo/bar?redirect=2 at t/TestServer.pm line 151.

Therefore failing the test for a fully qualified request_uri.

Regards,
Daniel

I did a quick check of the poedit trac system.

Seems that ftl is needed to build poedit with wx-3.0

I also had one locally (on amd64) once which went away in later

Package: libgd-perl

# apt-get -f -s install libdata-random-perl libgd-securityimage-perl
Reading package lists... Done

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libdata-random-perl : Depends: libgd-perl but it is not going to be installed

This is caused by the fact that libgd-securityimage-perl depends on
libgd-gd2-perl, which libgd-perl claims to provide and replace (in the version
that's currently in the archive) -- while it does exist as a separate package.

I suppose libgd-gd2-perl is to be removed?

Bug#746825: Already fixed upstream

2014-06-06 Thread Johnny Willemsen

Hi,

This is already fixed upstream, an export is lacking

Hi, Johnny, thanks for the upstream help.

Is that fix included in latest 6.2.0 ACE upstream release?

Not 100% sure, you have to try it. It is part of the latest micro, 6.2.6.

Unfortunately seems that Debian ACE is way behind upstream (6.0.3 vs 6.2.0).
I am neither ACE maintaner not fluent with C++, I am interested in this
because ivtools, which I use, depends on ACE, so I'd like this bug report
being fixed. I'd also like Debian ACE being in sync with upstream, but that
is way beyond my kills.

Yes, it is way behind, we are in fact already at 6.2.6, our latest micro
release. On OpenSuSE Build we do have some debian packages, see
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/libraries:/ACE:/micro/

Can you please point us to the ACE commit that fixed this problem? Until
someone does the real sync with upstream this may be the simplest approach.

I don't have spare time to sort this out, please grab the latest micro.

I have tried to get some guidance on how to upgrade ACE on Debian, would
be great if we could include it in the release instructions.

Best regards,

Johnny

Apparently this is because of #750593.
