The criteria for serious is "is a severe violation of Debian policy
(roughly, it violates a must or required directive), or, in the package
maintainer's or release manager's opinion, makes the package unsuitable for
release." I am not convinced this a violation of Debian policy. If so, what
section is it violating?

If you disagree with Jelmer's response, please say so, and why, and will
can discuss this bug further, maybe involving debian-devel if required.
Otherwise I will have to assume you are happy with his response, and will
close this bug.

Package: xul-ext-pentadactyl

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
I run an aptitude update which in particular upgrade Iceweasel from version ~25
to 29.0.1
I started Iceweasel, and got a message that Pentadactyl add on version is not
compatible.
I don't remember when I installed Pentadactyl, but it was through aptitude, not
through the Iceweasel Add-ons manager, and used it for a few months.

Bug#751724: isolinux: gratuitous binary move

2014-06-15 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: isolinux
Version: 3:6.03~pre14+dfsg-1
Severity: serious
Tags: d-i
Justification: breaks rdeps

This breaks reverse dependencies expecting binaries not to disappear
“for consistency”:

   * Moving isohybrid from isolinux to syslinux-utils for consistency.

Especially when no analysis has been performed and no bugs have been
filed in advance.

KiBi.

src:iceweasel is no longer building xulrunner-* binaries, so conkeror's
dependency on "xulrunner-24.0 | xulrunner-30 | xulrunner-29 | ... | firefox"
can no longer be satisfied. You may want to add an iceweasel alternative
to that (and drop the obsolete ones...).

This builds just fine on the buildds and I just retried it with local pbuilder
build and it built. I'm not sure what exactly is at fault either, but I don't
think a jenkins only FTBFS should be RC. I'm going to adjust this to
important.

The new NFS server implementation, used by default in the kernel of
FreeBSD 9.0 and later, is vulnerable to denial of service (deadlock) by
authorised NFS clients.

http://security.FreeBSD.org/advisories/FreeBSD-SA-14:05.nfsserver.asc

kfreebsd-10 is also affected.

kfreebsd-8 (squeeze and wheezy) may have vulnerable code present, but
the new NFS implementation isn't the one used there by default.

Package: apt
Version: 1.0.3
Severity: grave
Tags: security

I've been investigating how apt behaves when the repository doesn't
contain any Release signatures (possibly because they were stripped off
by a man-in-the-middle attacker).

This is what I found out:

| # cat /etc/apt/sources.list
| deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable main
| deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable main
|
| # apt-get update
| Ign http://ftp.debian.org unstable InRelease
| Ign http://ftp.debian.org unstable Release.gpg
| Get:1 http://ftp.debian.org unstable Release [205 kB]
| Get:2 http://ftp.debian.org unstable/main Sources [7249 kB]
| Get:3 http://ftp.debian.org unstable/main amd64 Packages [6758 kB]
| Fetched 14.2 MB in 29s (479 kB/s)
| Reading package lists... Done
|
| # echo $?
| 0

Hmm. There is no warning suggesting that anything fishy is going on, and
the exit code indicates success. (Perhaps the "Ign"s could raise
suspicion of an observant sysadmin. But who knows what "Ign" exactly
means? At least the apt-get(1) manpage doesn't know.)

Fortunately, apt-get won't let you install anything:

| # apt-get install -qq nyancat
| WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!
| nyancat
| E: There are problems and -y was used without --force-yes

And it won't let you even download binary packages:

| $ apt-get download nyancat
| WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!
| nyancat
| E: Some packages could not be authenticated

So far, so good. However, apt-get happily downloads unauthenticated
source packages, with no warning:

| $ apt-get source -d nyancat
| Reading package lists... Done
| Building dependency tree
| Reading state information... Done
| Selected version '1.2.2-1' (unstable) for nyancat
| Need to get 20.6 kB of source archives.
| Get:1 http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable/main nyancat 1.2.2-1 (dsc) [1782
B]
| Get:2 http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable/main nyancat 1.2.2-1 (tar) [14.1
kB]
| Get:3 http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable/main nyancat 1.2.2-1 (diff)
[4748 B]
| Fetched 20.6 kB in 0s (1838 kB/s)
| Download complete and in download only mode
|
| $ echo $?
| 0

It is equally happy to unpack them:

| $ apt-get source nyancat
| Reading package lists... Done
| Building dependency tree
| Reading state information... Done

package: kfreebsd-9
severity: serious
version: 9.2-2

Hi,

The kfreebsd-amd64 buildds seem to reboot when building gcc-4.[6789]. I was
able to reproduce this issue in a sid pbuilder chroot on a fresh jessie
install. With kfreebsd-9, I get a crash (screenshot in attach). I also tried
with kfreebsd-10 (from jessie) and kfreebsd-11 (from experimental), and both
of them reboot (I don't have a screenshot for those).

The buildds probably run the kernels for stable. In that case, the found
version for this bug should be updated.

If there is any specific test I can run to try to pinpoint the issue, feel
free to let me know.

Cheers,

Ivo

I'm attaching the backport to 3.2 which I've now been able to test. It
appears to apply cleanly to 3.4 and 3.10 as well. ("MIPS: Cleanup flags
in syscall flags handlers." applies to all branches with some fuzz.)

Yes, so far as I can see.

Your package depends on:

Depends: xulrunner-17.0 | xulrunner-20.0 | xulrunner-24.0 | xulrunner-29

However the iceweasel source package no longer builds xulrunner packages.

Note that iceweasel itself now ships libxul.so, so if that's what you need
you could just add an iceweasel (>= 30) alternative.

Regards,
Emilio

Bug#750811: brltty: FTBFS on kfreebsd*

2014-06-15 Thread Paul Gevers
On 15-06-14 17:31, Samuel Thibault wrote:

Yes, I agree. But interestingly enough, building liblouisutdml already
failed in gcc-4.8 while brltty (and libbluray) only now start to fail
with gcc-4.9, so something must have changed.

Shouldn't the package for kfreebsd* have the files in a different
sub-directory? linux just feels wrong on kfreebsd. I expect (but don't
know for sure) that the resolver is smart enough to look in a
sub-directory matching the os, but as I would expect not look in the
directory named by a different os.

Looking at the possibly more authoritative

https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=haskell-mono-traversable&suite=unstable

it seems the build succeeded for most platforms, but sparc is seeing the same
problem. So maybe the bug should rather be filed against
haskell-mono-traversable - but it's really hard to see which package is at fault
here. The fact that successful/failing builds appear to be a day-to-day thing
here certainly is not very helpful.

Best,
Michael

Hello,

this is a bug in ogre-1.9. The dependency on boost1.54 must be either
changed to boost1.55 or even better it should be unversioned to avoid
such bugs in the future.

Severity serious is justified because this is currently blocking the
boost1.55 transition.

It seems that those depended-on packages don't even exist anymore.
Maybe a
BinNMU is all that is needed, but I'm quite surprised how these

A new upstream release of ocaml-deriving-ocsigen has been uploaded
yesterday.
So the binNMU is indeed all that is needed (if the
ocaml-deriving-ocsigen's
API didn't change, of course). I'll let Stéphane handle them though,
maybe

he has more changes to implement in the affected packages.

Package: tlsdate
Version: 0.0.7-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After installing tlsdate I was unable to use the init script to start
the tlsdated daemon. Looking at the init script I found that it
specified the path to the tlsdated binary as /etc/bin/tlsdated but the
package installs the binary to /usr/sbin/tlsdate. As such the init
script is unable to start as the specified binary isn't found. Updating
the path in the init script allows me to start the tlsdated daemon.

Package: attic
Version: 0.10-1
Severity: grave

Hi,

attic uses #!/usr/bin/python3 as interpreter, but has native (cython)
modules that were compiled with a certain python3 version (3.3 in the
archive, but depends on python3-dev version at build time).

As testing now switched to 3.4 as default, the attic python3 dependency
means that /usr/bin/python3 is always python3.4, which does not work
with the python3.3 native modules in attic.

attic should imho depend on the python3 "sub" version used to
compile, and use this explicit version in the #!/usr/bin/python3...
line too.

Without this the package is mostly useless and may lead to data loss
as the backup system is not working. (although the old backups should
keep working as soon as this is fixed).

As a workaround one can install python3.3 and change the first line
in /usr/bin/attic to #!/usr/bin/python3.3; remember this also needs to
be done on the server for repositores over SSH.

Rebuilding the package with python3-dev from current testing also fixes
the problem.

This is most probably similar to #714559 which had the same issue.

I've just NMUed tlsdate to fix #746606 as Jacob currently has no access to a

Please include this fix in the next regular upload.

I've refrained from providing a GIT branch as the fix is too simple - see

Dear maintainer,

We're aiming to migrate the archive to using wxwidgets3.0 instead of
wxwidgets2.8.

I've rebuilt your package using the attached patch and it builds
cleanly.

According to "dak rm -Rn wxsvg" on mirror.ftp-master.debian.org, there
aren't any dependent packages (and "whodepends libwxsvg0" agrees), so
it seems there isn't a transition to coordinate for this update.

I'm happy to NMU this change if you wish me to - just let me know.

Cheers,
Olly

Bug#735569: builds fine now

2014-06-15 Thread Ivo De Decker
Control: retitle -1 please remove build-dep on obsolete libhdf5-serial-dev
Control: severity -1 normal

Hi,

As libhdf5-serial-dev has been reintroduced as a transitional package, this
problem is gone (other FTBFS issues remain, however).

>From the hdf5 changelog:

hdf5 (1.8.12-9) unstable; urgency=low

  * Reintroduce transitionnal dummy package libhdf5-serial-dev to allow
the transition to testing (previous release failed).
  * Architecture: all for all transitionnal dummy packages.

can you please provide a new upload? #747782 has a patch and I'd be happy to
