Bug#754059: [systemd-sysv] Conflicts with sysvinit-core

2014-07-06 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: systemd-sysv
Version: 204-14
Severity: serious

systemd-sysv conflicts with sysvinit-core, which is required.

This is particularly problematic since libpam-systemd alternatively depends on
systemd-sysv. On my testing install, APT's solution when asked to upgrade
systemd is to remove sysvinit-core:

# LANG=C apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... The following packages were automatically installed and
are no longer required:
  libcolamd2.8.0 lp-solve xulrunner-29
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  sysvinit-core
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  systemd-sysv
The following packages will be upgraded:
  libpam-systemd libsystemd-daemon0 libsystemd-id128-0 libsystemd-journal0
libsystemd-login0 systemd
6 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Removing libpam-systemd isn't too tempting neither:

# LANG=C apt-get remove libpam-systemd
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  libcolamd2.8.0 libmodemmanagerqt1 libnetworkmanagerqt1 lp-solve xulrunner-29
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  colord hplip kde-plasma-desktop libpam-systemd network-manager plasma-nm
plasma-widget-networkmanagement policykit-1 policykit-1-gnome
printer-driver-postscript-hp udisks2
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 11 to remove and 5 not upgraded.

I managed to solve this safely by installing systemd-shim.

I was surprised to see APT propose the removal of a required package. I didn't
test how that would go, but if that's not a problem, something must be wrong
with its priority field. I'll save my system from such an experimentation and
let others decide if this needs to be reassigned.

Bug#751201: emacs-goodies-el: site-start files don't work

2014-07-06 Thread Peter S Galbraith
Hi,

I can't reproduce this...

The errors means that directories like
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacs-goodies-el don't exist on your
system...

Can you purge the packages, retry, and if it fails again show me the
screen output of the install?

Thanks,
Peter

it's hitting an error with emacs24 at line 127 of maplev.el:

 (require 'abbrevlist)

When I eval this, I get the message:

 Package abbrevlist is obsolete!

But the file has no mention of "function-put". I don't see where this is
happening...

Justification: renders package unusable

The binary python3-grip actually contain python code that's installed by the
upstream makefile for python vice python3 (just to be sure, I checked the
Ubuntu packages and they correctly have the python bindings as for python and
not python3). python3-grip missed dependencies as a result on both a python
interpreter and pygi.

The solution is to rename from python3-grip to python-grip and fix this to
work as a proper python package. NMU debdiff attached. I don't intend to
NMU this since it's a bit invasive, but it's the most correct fix.

Yeah, thanks for noticing. It seems to be a bit overly quoted. I don't
think that hurts, as it gets expanded by the shell. I see it's been that
way since 5.17.6.

http://perl5.git.perl.org/perl.git/commitdiff/937aac54e77dcd55bbcad956420c9f990fc0b4ea

quote() in Makefile.SH looks like it's supposed to leave '-' unquoted
(and quote '\'), there's probably a bug in the regexp. Cloning. I'm pretty
sure that's not the problem here, though.

 echo "$1" | sed 's/\([^a-zA-Z0-9.:_\-\/]\)/\\\1/g' ;;

should possibly be

 echo "$1" | sed 's/\([^a-zA-Z0-9.:_\/-]\)/\\\1/g' ;;

Bug#738460: macchanger: Random mac feature fails in all of the random mac assigning options

2014-07-06 Thread Theodore Ts'o
I've merged bugs 740947 and 738460 because they are fundamentally the
same bug. I suspect this was caused by a mistake while upgrading the
patch 08-fix_random_MAC_choice.patch when upgrading to the upstream
1.7.0 release.

Now instead of fixing the random MAC choice, it is completely breaking
it. After creating a random MAC address, the patch is now causing the
mc_mac_random() function to overwrite the freshly created mac address
with the original mac address. :-(

Since this fundamentally breaks the functionality of the macchanger
package, I've upgraded the severity of the bugs to "grave". The
mac.c.patch contains the necessary fix to mac.c, and the
0001-Fix-random-mac-address-setting-which-was-completely-.patch
attachment contains a patch suitable for application via "git am" to
the git repository.

Do you have any objections if I upload this as a NMU? Or would you
prefer to update the package?

Bug#754046: twinkle: hard automake version dependency

2014-07-06 Thread Alex 'AdUser' Z
Package: twinkle
Version: 1.4.2
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Hi all.

This is the same kind of bug, as in #733611.
Now 'configure' step breaks if system autotools version != 1.14 instead 1.13.

Error is:

/bin/sh: 1: automake-1.14: not found
make: *** [debian/stamp-autotools-files] Error 127
dpkg-buildpackage: error: debian/rules build gave error exit status 2

Please consider making 'distclean' of sources for all autogenerated files
instead 'tweaking' them.
`autoreconf -i` will recreate them properly in target system. You may need add
it to build-deps also.

List of such files:

   * config.*
   * configure
   * depcomp
   * install-sh
   * missing
   * ylwrap
   * all `*.m4` in topmost dir

Hi Colin,

the following bit isn't OK on non-linux:

|libparted.

since dosfstools-udeb is no longer available since:
| dosfstools (3.0.17-2) experimental; urgency=low

   * dosfstools has a good deal of Linux-specific code and isn't currently
buildable on non-Linux architectures, so we can't create or check FAT

existing FAT filesystems. Make the dosfstools-udeb dependency
Linux-only, and disable relevant features at run-time when it is

Bug#754033: at-spi2-core: stray shlibs file makes udebs useless

2014-07-06 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Source: at-spi2-core
Version: 2.10.2-3
Severity: serious
Tags: d-i patch
Justification: broken udebs

[ -boot@ in X-D-Cc ]

Hi maintainers,

the following bugs should have been fixed thanks to various udeb
additions: #723951, #723163. Unfortunately that isn't the case yet,
because during the build the following instructions:
| override_dh_makeshlibs:
| dh_makeshlibs -a --add-udeb=libatspi0-udeb

generate the following shlibs file:
| $ cat debian/libatspi2.0-0/DEBIAN/shlibs
| libatspi 0 libatspi2.0-0
| udeb: libatspi 0 libatspi0-udeb

which looks like what we would like reverse dependencies to use to get a
proper dependencies as far as udebs are concerned.

But given there's still this file around, the generated shlibs file is
later getting replaced by its contents, making all efforts moot:
| $ cat debian/libatspi2.0-0.shlibs
| libatspi 0 libatspi2.0-0 (>= 2.9.90)

(Note the missing udeb line.)

I'm going to assume you might want to be keep the version around, you'll
find attached a patch against master which implements that.

Mraw,
KiBi.

Also, Hideki, what are your plans with respect to guile-pg? Were you
planning to move your experimental NMU to unstable?

If not, then Sam, were you planning a new upload anytime soon? I'm just
trying to decide how to proceed with respect to the guile-1.6 removal.

Thanks

maybe I'm missing something obvious but I fail to see how SELinux could
be useful in the installer context.

I'm adding -boot@ to the loop to have more eyes on this.

Ok, let's then handle the upload to unstable first, and once that's in
we can prepare the one for stable, ask the release-team and then upload
that.

The changes look good. There's a missing mention of the
Standards-Version bump though, and some of the changelog items could
do with some slight verbosity. :)

Once those are fixed I'll upload the package to unstable.

Thanks,
Guillem

Bug#753985: gpgv-udeb: fails to validate Release files (missing sha256 support)

2014-07-06 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: gpgv-udeb
Version: 1.4.18-1
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi folks,

I'm really sorry for:
 - having failed to reply to your request in time[1];
 - having failed to deliver any testing, which led to lost user time[2]
and is going to cost another gnupg upload.

 1. https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2014/01/msg00129.html
 2. https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2014/07/msg7.html

I've finally spent some time on this, and checked the following things:

 a) A trivial removal of the --enable-minimal flag would need to go
together with disabling bzip2 support; resulting udebs would be
uninstallable due to a libbz2 dependency. d-i would then be bigger
but functional again.

 b) Thankfully we don't need to consider the backup plan mentioned in a)
since all we need is enabling sha256 support. Currently, Release
files include MD5+SHA1+SHA256. You'll find a tested patch attached.
(This means a whole installation using a netboot-gtk image.)

I also noticed "make check" isn't run for the udeb build; I don't think
it would hurt to do so (the testsuite is smart enough to notice support
for some bits wasn't enabled, see output below my signature), that's why
I'm including an extra patch adding that.

Sorry again…

Mraw,
KiBi.

Dear Bastien,

thanks for the report. Would it be possible to check for existing bug

Bad idea, the misconfigured default-sink was not reason for my problems as just
"enabling" the alsa sink module created the same problem again. My screen
stayed black again. At the very same moment I had, like, seven pulseaudio
processes running at the same time, albeit no log entry at all this time.
However, I did manager to lose all my desktop configuration this time. I guess
the next time I try I better use a test user. :)

Bug#746918: advice:c++ syntax replace blacklist in symbols file

2014-07-06 Thread Sphinx Jiang
Dear maintainer,

I submitted a patch to solve the ftbfs problem with gcc 4.9 by using
architecture blacklist. Now my mentor from GSoC take the symbols file with
c++ syntax filtered better for the reason of compatibility.

May I advice to replace the architecture blacklist symbols file with c++
filtered symbols file? The package will pass easier on more architectures
with gcc update.

Please consider it, thank you.

Regards,
Sphinx Jiang

Bug#753969: [src:haskell-criterion] Some sources are not included in your package

2014-07-06 Thread bastien ROUCARIES
Package: haskell-criterion
Version: 0.6.2.0-3
user: lintian-ma...@debian.org
usertags: source-is-missing
severity: serious
X-Debbugs-CC: ftpmas...@debian.org

Hi,

Your package seems to include some files that lack sources
in prefered forms of modification:

templates/js/excanvas-r3.min.js
templates/js/jquery-1.6.4.min.js
templates/js/jquery.flot-0.7.min.js

This is against the Debian Free Software Guidelines [1] (DFSG) #2:
"The program must include source code, and must allow distribution
in source code as well as compiled form.".

In order to solve this problem, you could:
1. repack the origin tarball adding the missing source to it.
2 add the source files to "debian/missing-sources" directory

Both way satisfies the requirement that we ship the source. Second option
might be preferable due to the following reasons [2]:
 - Upstream can do it too and you could even supply a patch to them, thus full
filling our social contract [3], see particularly §2.
 - If source and non-source are in different locations, ftpmasters may
miss the source and (needlessly) reject the package.
 - The source isn't duplicated in every .diff.gz/.debian.tar.* (though
this only really matters for larger sources).

You could also ask debian...@lists.debian.org or #debian-qa for more
guidance.

and

Justification: fails to build from source

Dear Maintainer,

xine-lib-1.2 currently fails to build in sid, probably due to the new

The configure script doesn't detect CACA anymore:
[...]

checking for AALIB version >= 1.4... yes -- 1.4.0
checking for CACA... no
checking for DIRECTFB... yes
checking for DirectX... no
[...]

Subsequently the build fails:
dh_install
dh_install: libxine2-console missing files
(debian/tmp/usr/lib/xine/plugins/*/xineplug_vo_out_caca.so), aborting

debian/rules:111: recipe for target 'binary-common' failed

Please update the CACA detection or don't try to install the caca plugin.

Bug#753958: [flask-silk] Some sources are not included in your package

2014-07-06 Thread bastien ROUCARIES
Package: flask-silk
Version: 0.2-2
user: lintian-ma...@debian.org
usertags: source-is-missing
severity: serious
X-Debbugs-CC: ftpmas...@debian.org

Hi,

Your package seems to include some files that lack sources
in prefered forms of modification:

  flaskext/silk/icons/__init__.pyc

According to Debian Free Software Guidelines [1] (DFSG) #2:
"The program must include source code, and must allow distribution
in source code as well as compiled form.".

This could also constitute a license violation for some copyleft licenses such
as the GNU GPL.

You could also ask debian...@lists.debian.org or #debian-qa for more
guidance.

Hi,

libahven3-dev is not installable in sid, at least since 2014-05-02.
The reason is that it depends both on gnat and gnat-4.6.
However, gnat depends on gnat-4.9 which is in Conflict with gnat-4.6.

Bug#747292: gdm3: unable to log in

2014-07-06 Thread James Van Zandt
I have been running stable. After a power outage, my system came up with
VCs but no display manager login screen. Eventually I found that gdm3 was
not installed. "sudo apt-get install gdm3" failed because due to a missing
dependency. I resorted to
   sudo apt-get install -t unstable gdm3
which succeeded. However, I could still not login. I got a completely
black screen with no cursor, and a completely dead keyboard (I could not
reach a VC or even toggle the caps lock and num lock indicator lights).

I was able to boot in "recover mode". Using a different machine, I looked
for some help, eventually found this bug, removed gdm3, installed lightdm
instead, and was back in business. However, I suggest there is still a
problem with gdm3:amd64 (3.8.4-9), perhaps an unrecognized version
dependency.

I expect to stay with lightdm for the forseeable future.

Here's the /var/log/apt/history.log entry for the gdm3 installation:

An updated package has been available in mentors[0] since a couple of
days. Feel free to sponsor it. :-)

The package version is the very same of the one in wheezy, as upstream is
quite dead and the software hasn't received an update in years.

As I mentioned in a status report on the bug 749974 (the bug for
maitreya), the first upstream release 7.0.6 contained bugs, and had to
be sent back to the upstream for further work. The upstream is working
on that now. As soon as i get the next upstream release without bugs,
I should be able to produce a new version for debian fairly quickly.

Doesn't seem specific to libglib2.0-cil, see:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=gdcm&arch=s390x&ver=2.4.2-1.1&stamp=1404631848

This is now also blocking gdcm which is blocking the poppler transition.

Bug#753927: usbredir: Broken patch disallows dpkg-source unpack

2014-07-06 Thread Guillem Jover
Source: usbredir
Source-Version: 0.4.3-2
Severity: serious
Tags: wheezy
Control: fixed -1 0.7-1

Hi!

This package contains a broken patch, which makes latest dpkg-source in
stable to be unable to correctly unpack the source, due to more strict
parsing of patches required to disallow path traversal vulnerabilities.

The broken patch has a line-wrapped --- header line.

Here's a simple patch fixing this. It would be nice if this could be
fixed in stable, otherwise the source cannot be unpacked normally. I'm
ready to help with such release if needed, given that the “regression”
was caused by the dpkg update. (Unstable is unaffected.)

This was found by David Suárez in an archive-wide check:

Guillem

Package: src:soprano

User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-4.9

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.9/g++-4.9, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.8/g++-4.8. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/failed-gcc49/soprano_2.9.4+dfsg-1_unstable_gcc49.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.9, either set CC=gcc-4.9 CXX=g++-4.9 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures
with -Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols
files. For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide
at http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.9/porting_to.html
