I haven't seen this in any of my test rebuilds of glib2.0 (both Debian

 to build from source.

I still haven't reproduced it and neither have the buildds, so I'm
downgrading to non-RC severity.

This appears to be your response to bug #755703.

This is unacceptable. You have broken the package in unstable in a
release-critical manner, and have only uploaded the fix to experimental,
leaving users' systems broken in unstable. Furthermore, despite this
package being maintained in git, you have not committed your changes to the
package repository; and you have not declared the required Breaks: from
libtirpc1 to old versions of nfs-common / nfs-kernel-server which link
against libgssglue1.

I am NMUing libtirpc1 to unstable to fix this, including a proper
declaration of Breaks: against nfs-common ( 1:1.2.8-7) and
nfs-kernel-server ( 1:1.2.8-7). Please find the debdiff attached.

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

   * What was the outcome of this action?

nfs4 sec=krb5 mounts stopped working, rpc.gssd segfaults in libgssapi_krb5

The recent binNMU against perl 5.18 has created empty packages (there
is only /usr/share/doc/libpdl-io-hdf5-perl/* left), I can
reproduce this when rebuilding the package in pbuilder for sid. It
still builds fine (and with content) in wheezy.

Bug#750910: Bug#757308: grass: Please update to use wxpython3.0

2014-08-11 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Olly,

just a metacomment: Due to the wxPython issue several packages get RC
bugs filed which in several cases leads to the fact that these are
simply removed from testing and either create a lot of work or will be
  lost for the Jessie release.

All the bugs I've filed for the wxpython3.0 transition are currently
 severity important (as recommended here:
 https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/ReleaseTeam/Transitions), which means
 none are RC.

Ahh, sorry. I considered them RC as well.

I've just looked through the packages which have been auto-removed so
far, and most of these bugs have had no response from the maintainer
 (even when I've included a patch - e.g. #749870 and #751552), or the
maintainer has explicitly been OK with the package being removed from
 testing.

Uhmmm, good we talked about this. I think time is ripe to team hijack
ctsim. Kevin M. Rosenberg is MIA / unresponsive regarding Debian Med
team maintenance offers since a long time. So he was warned. I'll care
about ctsim (#751552) in the next couple of days.

It seems to me the big issue here is really that we have a lot of
maintainers who don't respond to bugs in their packages.

I perfectly agree that this is the most frustrating issue for
migrations.

I'm intending to do a pass over the packages which are still using
wxwidgets2.8 and try to get as many as possible moved over. My aim
here is to migrate Debian to wxwidgets3.0 rather than to remove any
package that stands in the way of removing wxwidgets2.8.

Thanks for your intense work on this. That's really welcome.

If you're alluding to #750910 particularly, the issue there was that
there's a significantly newer upstream version, and so trying to port
the current package to wx3 seemed a bad approach. You'd indicated
that the maintainers were going to look at updating, so I left it at
 that.

I did not had this particular bug in mind (even if we need to care for
it in Debian Med team - to bad that the people who touched the package
before did not responded yet). When I wrote my last mail I had this
problem of gnumed-client[1] in mind.

IMHO this is bad timing to get a predependency for several
applications removed quite close to a release date.

I left wxpython3.0 until later because it released a few months after
wxwidgets3.0, and I expect fewer problems (e.g. the Unicode handling
changes cause FTBFS for some C++ applications, but aren't a problem
for Python apps). The packages I've looked at so far seem to mostly
 bear this out.

I would certainly rather have started the wxpython3.0 work sooner, but
I'm the only active wx maintainer in recent times (though Gianfranco
Costamagna has started to get involved recently), and I've been busy
with the wxwidgets3.0 transition - there's only so much I can do at
 once.

That's fine. I hope my mail was not sounding to frustrated (I guess you
get a lot of unfriendly response and I did not wanted to add to this
set, really). Your work id really appreciated. May be you could ask
for some help on wxpython3.0 on some relevant lists to also get this one
in right in time?

But that's also the reason why we need to try to eliminate wxwidgets2.8
from jessie - I just don't have the time to maintain packages of such
a large upstream project which the upstream maintainers are no longer
 interested in.

+1

Nobody else in Debian seems interested in actually
helping to maintain 2.8, and the alternative is to have unmaintained
packages of such a large, complex and widely used piece of software.

Luckily I managed to upload treeviewx yesterday and I will have a look
into ctsim and sitplus soon. Hope this will help your effort.

Kind regards

  Andreas.

Honestly (as stated in
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=754850#84 ) all those
bugs, whichever severity they have, are quite useless to me. There's
just too much noise in them to make sound decisions, so I'll just ignore
them. I could as well close them wontfix for now, but I actually just
wait until they're preventing something to migrate to testing.

In the meantime, I'm trying to have a clear view of the whole picture in
unstable, but I've abandoned the idea to have it provided by actual
users on the BTS.

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for openbabel (versioned as 2.3.2+dfsg-1.3) and
uploaded it to unstable.

It includes part of gregor's patch that I have missed somehow in -1.2.
Sorry about that.

Thanks to Niko Tyni for spotting the problem.

No. It is on my list and will be fixed very soon.. Personal stuff has

Jerome,

When do you plan the 3.0 release ? I see you and Andy talking on merges

Debian will freeze in 2 months and I'd like to push the newer stack as
soon as possible.

Bug#757771: rar: Incorrect handling of file names containing international characters when creating an archive

2014-08-11 Thread Andrew Kotsyuba
Package: rar
Version: 2:4.0.b3-1
Severity: grave
Tags: l10n
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

There is a bug in RAR 4.00 beta 3 that may result to ignoring some files whose
names contain international characters when adding these files to the archive.

This bug has already been fixed in newer versions of RAR (for example, version
from jessie repository - 4.20).

The way to reproduce the bug:

1. Create directory structure with file names that contain international
characters:
mkdir -p test/{01..03}
for i in test/* ; do echo $RANDOM ${i}/${RANDOM}.txt ; done
for i in test/* ; do echo $RANDOM ${i}/日本語.${RANDOM}.txt ; done
for i in test/* ; do echo $RANDOM  ${i}/Кириллица.${RANDOM}.txt ;
done
for i in test/* ; do echo $RANDOM  ${i}/абырвалг.${RANDOM}.txt ;
done

Here's the result:
 $ find test -type f | sort
 test/01/Eng.7300.txt
 test/01/абырвалг.19779.txt
 test/01/Кириллица.17866.txt
 test/01/日本語.9967.txt
 test/02/Eng.15108.txt
 test/02/абырвалг.16704.txt
 test/02/Кириллица.12278.txt
 test/02/日本語.2989.txt
 test/03/Eng.6225.txt
 test/03/абырвалг.1869.txt
 test/03/Кириллица.13163.txt
 test/03/日本語.24880.txt

2. Add mentioned directory structure to archive:
rar a -r0 test.rar test
or
find test -type f | rar a -r0 -n@ test.rar

3. List archive contents:
 $ rar l test.rar

As we see, not all the files have been added to the archive.

And the main question: who came up with to put the beta version in the stable
repository?

Version: 0.09-1
Severity: serious

Starting with version 5.20.0 (currently in experimental), the Debian
perl package is changing the vendorarch library paths (currently
/usr/lib/perl5) to include the multiarch triplet and the perl version. See
#748380 for details.

For this to work, packages containing binary perl modules need to migrate
from using the hardcoded /usr/lib/perl5 directory to the value of the
$Config{vendorarch} variable, as defined in the 'Config' module.

This package fails to build with perl_5.20.0-3 from experimental:

That repository contains JS source code which is compiled with the

I removed that precompiled jar file to avoid having to find *its* source

not verified that their complete source code is included, and the
regression tests just to save some space.

  It was not

debian/missing-sources/README contains a command-line which produces
sufficiently similar output that I think we can be reasonably confident
that this is in fact the source code.

Bug#752800: marked as done (openbabel: hardcodes /usr/lib/perl5)

2014-08-11 Thread Debian Bug Tracking System
Your message dated Mon, 11 Aug 2014 09:54:27 +

Package: openbabel
Version: 2.3.2+dfsg-1.1
Severity: important
User: debian-p...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: perl-5.20-transition

Starting with version 5.20.0 (currently in experimental), the Debian
perl package is changing the vendorarch library paths (currently
/usr/lib/perl5) to include the multiarch triplet and the perl version. See
#748380 for details.

For this to work, packages containing binary perl modules need to migrate
from using the hardcoded /usr/lib/perl5 directory to the value of the
$Config{vendorarch} variable, as defined in the 'Config' module.

This package fails to build with perl_5.20.0-1 from experimental:

  dh_install -Xperllocal.pod --list-missing
  dh_install: libchemistry-openbabel-perl missing files (usr/lib/perl*),
aborting
  make[1]: *** [override_dh_install] Error 255
debian/rules:46: recipe for target 'override_dh_install' failed
  make[1]: Leaving directory '/«BUILDDIR»/openbabel-2.3.2+dfsg'
  make: *** [binary-arch] Error 2

One solution for this might be an executable debhelper install file
(available with debhelper compat level 9) expanding $Config{vendorarch}.
See #751924 for an example of this.

Please ask on the debian-perl list if you want help with this, and see

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libquazip-qt5.so.1
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libquazip-qt5.so.1.0
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libquazip-qt5.so.1.0.0

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

-Ralf.

Bug#757784: postgresql-prioritize needs update for postgresql-9.4

2014-08-11 Thread Christoph Berg
Package: postgresql-prioritize
Version: 1.0.4-1
Severity: grave
User: pkg-postgresql-pub...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertag: migration-94

Hi,

postgresql-prioritize ships a 9.1 extension. With the move to
postgresql-9.4, the package needs to be recompiled to produce the new
module. I'm attaching a short diff that at least makes the package
depend on the proper server version.

Ideally, the package would not just build one module, but for all
currently supported by /usr/share/postgresql-common/supported-versions.
The file debian/pgversions isn't used at all now. (I'm updating it
anyway to all, and also bumping the postgresql-server-dev-all
version to support this value; see pg_buildext(1).)

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Christoph Berg

Bug#757786: pgrouting needs update to postgresql-9.4

2014-08-11 Thread Christoph Berg
Source: pgrouting
Version: 2.0.0-2
Severity: serious
User: pkg-postgresql-pub...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertag: migration-94

Hi,

the default PostgreSQL version in Jessie will be 9.4. Please update
pgrouting to support it. Postgis will likely be updated later this
week.

I tried a simple recompile which worked, so hopefully all that's
needed is updating debian/control. If you need sponsoring for this
upload, please let me know.

Ideally the package would also be updated to support multiple
postgresql versions in parallel. See pg_buildext(1) for how to do
that, or ping me on IRC.

Thanks,
Christoph

I have built the package several times on amd64 (in a pbuilder chroot)
before uploading and I noticed that it takes some time to build,
especially when it comes to perl/python bindings (the IEC above is
when compiling the perl binding). Perhaps the buildd was constrained
in RAM/swap?

Buildd admins, can you re-schedule the build, possibly on another
host?

(I could also upload amd64-only binaries, but that would be kind of
fixing the wrong problem).

Steve, if you want to interact with the maintainer of a package you're
reassigning a bug to, you need to add the said maintainer to Cc.
Otherwise the received mail only contains the results of the control
commands:
  https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2014/08/msg00215.html

Now that -boot@ owns the bug report, keeping the bug report, -bsd@, and
the submitter in the loop should be sufficient.

Full quoting follows, for those not following -bsd@.

Mraw,
KiBi.

This package fails to build with Perl 5.20.0 from experimental,

I'm sorry for the lack of previous notice; my earlier test rebuilds were
made in June and this package has entered sid after them.

Many tests fail with an out of memory message. An example:

This seems to be fixed in experimental, 1.2.0+dfsg-1 builds fine.

Bug#751767: libBLT changes SONAME without changing package name

Hi Peter,

On Mon, Aug 11, 2014 at 2:07 AM, peter green plugw...@p10link.net wrote:

That only partially solves the problem, in particular partial upgrades are
still likely to break. Furthermore the problem will recur next time libBLT
 changes it's soname.

I don't expect changing its soname in next few years (or maybe even
forever). The
package is dead upstream. But you're right. It should be fixed properly.
I'll split out the library to libblt2.5-8.6 (which won't work without
the Tcl code, so it'll
go to libblt2.5-8.6 too making the blt package dummy) and I'll add the
necessary 'breaks'.

Cheers!

We're aiming to migrate the archive to using wxwidgets3.0 instead of
wxwidgets2.8, and intend to drop wxwidgets2.8 before jessie is released.

I've successfully built ctsim with the attached patch, and it starts up
OK and I can exercise the menu options which don't need specialised
knowledge or data. It would be good if you (or someone else) who
actually uses the application could give it a more thorough test though.

I'm happy to NMU this change if you wish me to - just let me know.

Justification: what subject says

[X-D-Cc: -boot@, please keep it in the loop.]

Hi,

thanks for looking into #757417 and performing a number of uploads to
sid. I've performed a few tests using those, and I can confirm that at
least:
 - Full disc w/o LVMfrom a blank disc = OK
 - Full disc with auto LVM from the resulting disc = OK
 - Full disc with auto LVM from a blank disc = OK

But starting w/ or w/o a blank disc I'm getting:
 - Full disc with auto encrypted LVM= FAIL

Indeed I'm getting an error message: no partition has been selected for
the root filesystem.

I have no strong background on the whole partman-* ecosystem, but it
looks to me like the partman-auto-crypto package might have needed an
update similar to the one you just performed for the other packages.

Since performing some testing is something I'm slightly more competent
with, I've checked that the following images work OK for full disc auto
encrypted LVM:
 - Jessie Alpha 1 netinst.
 - Same image as above (meaning udebs from sid, basically), but with
parted udebs reverted to their 3.1-4 versions.

Since you mentioned in a reply that the partman log alone should be
sufficient I'm attaching the logs for:
 - sid only = FAIL (partman.sid-fail.txt.xz)
 - sid with reverted parted = OK (partman.sid+revert-ok.txt.xz)

Looking at the first diff hunk, I might not be totally mistaken about
a possibly missing free vs. unknown patch:

-parted_server: OUT: 10-17804820471780482048 primary unknown
/dev/mapper/sda5_crypt
+parted_server: OUT: -1 0-17804820471780482048 primary free
/dev/mapper/sda5_crypt

[ I should be able to perform some testing as soon as you have a
prospective patch or package, by the way. Hopefully that's going
to be the last round trip before we get everyone into testing
and cut a release. ]

Mraw,
KiBi.

Do you perhaps have a stale installation of Slic3r somewhere? I've
seen similar complaints before from people who have done a global
installation of Slic3r from git, and not properly removed it before
  installing the deb.

Bingo. I found a couple files under /usr/local/lib/perl that were
conflicting somehow. The package still whines about Perl = 5.16 not
being supported, but it does at least launch now.

Great. I'm closing this bug. The warning's harmless, at least from my
experience. I've been using it since 1.1.0 with this warning in place.

Bug#745454: Libgcrypt CRC function and RFCs

2014-08-11 Thread Werner Koch
Hi,

I just stumbled upon this. The code in question and the comments are
here for 11 years. Thus it _would_ not only affect Libgcrypt 1.6 but
all versions of Libgcrypt.

The code to implement a CRC is a pretty standard programming pattern and
there are not many other ways to express it. You can find a bunch
of code which does exactly the same; it is a textbook implementation.

The fact that there is sample code in an RFC to describe an algorithm
does not mean that code fragment if copyrightable and subject to the
IETF license for the respective RFCs. It is a bit unfortunate that back
in 1996 the IETF did not explicitly stated the copyright status of code
fragments. However, the code snippet in question is

a) not copyrightable
b) similar to code in GnuPG
c) adapted by us

We merely added the comments and copyright notices to describe from
where we took the algorithm description. As an exercise you may want to
grep the entire Debian source archives for similar CRC code; with the
reasoning of this bug I would bet that you need to open an RC bug for
many packages.

Salam-Shalom,

   Werner

I have built the package several times on amd64 (in a pbuilder chroot)
before uploading and I noticed that it takes some time to build,
especially when it comes to perl/python bindings (the IEC above is
when compiling the perl binding). Perhaps the buildd was constrained
 in RAM/swap?

It only has 2 GB of RAM + 0.5 GB of swap. I also found this in
the log:
[37098.081505] Out of memory: Kill process 19127 (cc1plus) score 447 or
sacrifice child
[37098.081508] Killed process 19127 (cc1plus) total-vm:1213428kB,
anon-rss:1042196kB, file-rss:0kB

Buildd admins, can you re-schedule the build, possibly on another
 host?

Done, and I've excluded that package on brahms.

Bug#757830: Newest version create /dev/stdout as plain file while booting

2014-08-11 Thread Klaus Ethgen
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

Package: udev
Version: 208-7
Severity: critical

The newest version of udev generates /dev/stdout as plain file instead
as symlink to /proc/self/fd/1 with every boot. (stderr and stdin are
created correctly.)

This is a security leak for some stuff and a problem for many tools
especially security ones that explicitly handle stdout for some reasons.

The content in that file directly after boot (you can find below)
pointed out that it happens especially for udev itself.

This bug affects the whole system.

Package: libamazon-ruby
Severity: normal
Usertags: ruby18-removal, update-ruby-policy

Hi Dafydd Harries,

As you may know, during the Wheezy release cycle, the pkg-ruby-extras
team¹ has worked to update the Ruby libraries/modules/gems packages to
follow a new policy, much easier for the maintainers (as we no longer
require a separate package for each interpreter version), to the
archive (as it strongly reduces code duplication), and much more
sensical to the users (as they no longer require to fiddle with which
among many almost-identical binary packages to install).

While we achieved a quite good success level during the Wheezy cycle²,
we decided to act only on the packages maintained by the group — There
are many Ruby library packages maintained by kind people (like
yourself!) which have not yet adopted this new style. According to our
records, you are currently maintaining the package:

  libamazon-ruby

I am sending this report as part of a mass-bug-filing.³ Some useful
information you might find useful:

• Guidelines for Ruby packaging⁴

• Ruby team release goals for Jessie⁵

  https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Ruby/Jessie

• About the Ruby team — Please consider joining!⁶

• Part of the new policy involves running the package's tests. Here is
a swift introduction on what it means and how to do it:

Thanks a lot for your attention!

Hello,

sbintime_t is not defined at /usr/include/sys/_callout.h causing build error,
at least for GNU GDB package, as found at:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=gdbarch=kfreebsd-amd64ver=7.7.1-2stamp=1403257387

This error is preventing GNU GDB from entering testing/jessie release.

Apparently /usr/include/sys/_callout.h is out dated, when looking to:
   http://code.metager.de/source/xref/freebsd/sys/sys/_callout.h

  Could you please update package?

Regards

Package: schleuder
Version: 2.2.1-3
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

The schleuder currently depends either on ruby-tmail (for ruby1.8) or
ruby-actionmailer =2.3.14 (for ! ruby1.8).

Either schleuder needs to fix that, or we would need to remove
schleuder from the archive, since tmail is obsolete and
ruby-actionmailer-2.3 has been removed from Debian unstable (finally)
because it's unmaintained upstream (for a long time now).

Bug#757835: nfs-kernel-server: after update 1.2.8-6-1.2.8-8 rpc.mountd starts crashing

2014-08-11 Thread Petr Vandrovec
Hi,
it seems to be gcc bug. For inexplicable reason compiler optimized
'if (cp *cp)' to just 'if (*cp)' :-(

Changing 'char *cp' to 'char * volatile cp' at line 468 in
support/export/client.c is enough to explain to gcc that it has no
idea what it is doing, and fixes the crash.

I think that after code does 'strncpy(new, old, cp-old)' or
'new[cp-old] = 0' or 'if (cp != old *cp)' compiler believes 'cp'
cannot be NULL, forgetting that both 'cp' and 'old' could have been
NULL, making these expressions valid for NULL cp.

Bug#757830: Newest version create /dev/stdout as plain file while booting

thanks

 Package: udev
 Version: 208-7
 Severity: critical

The newest version of udev generates /dev/stdout as plain file instead
as symlink to /proc/self/fd/1 with every boot. (stderr and stdin are
 created correctly.)

This is a security leak for some stuff and a problem for many tools
especially security ones that explicitly handle stdout for some reasons.

The content in that file directly after boot (you can find below)
pointed out that it happens especially for udev itself.

This bug affects the whole system.

This bug is not reproducible here. Neither under systemd nor sysvinit.

Please check if this isn't a local modification on your part (e.g. in
the sysv init script).
Do you have devtmpfs support enabled in your self-built kernel? Can you
test with a Debian kernel.
