Hope this helps.

Bug#759200: evolution: uninstallable in sid/amd64: needs libgtkhtml-4.0-0 4.8

2014-08-25 Thread Simon McVittie
Package: libevolution,libgtkhtml-4.0-0
Version: libevolution/3.12.5-1,libgtkhtml-4.0-0/4.8.4-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

(Mainly opening this bug to prevent migration of libgtkhtml-4.0-0
to testing before it has been resolved.)

libevolution Depends: libgtkhtml-4.0-0 (= 4.6), libgtkhtml-4.0-0 ( 4.8)
so it is not installable in unstable/amd64 now that libgtkhtml has been
upgraded to 4.8.

It looks as though it might be possible to address this by binNMUing
src:evolution (and possibly other packages) on amd64: it was built against
the new gtkhtml on armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, mipsel, powerpc,
s390x and sparc, and has not been built yet (so it is likely to pick
up the new gtkhtml) on mips.

I notice that Andreas uploaded the new versions of libevolution and
libgtkhtml-4.0-0 on the same day, but his libevolution was built against
an older libgtkhtml-4.0-0. Was this intentional? Does that Evolution
version work correctly with the new libgtkhtml-4.0-0?

Thanks,
S

   gcc 4.9 decides that this must never happen and adds a trap in this

  I found the culprit: The tree-isolate-paths pass in gcc 4.9. If I
  disable this pass I get:

 And -fno-delete-null-pointer-checks seems to be the correct option.

From the gcc man page:

-fdelete-null-pointer-checks
 Use global dataflow analysis to identify and eliminate useless checks for null
pointers.  The
 compiler assumes that dereferencing a null pointer would have halted the
program.  If a pointer is
 checked after it has already been dereferenced, it cannot be null.

 In some environments, this assumption is not true, and programs can safely
dereference null
 pointers. Use -fno-delete-null-pointer-checks to disable this optimization
for programs which
 depend on that behavior.

So we should add this Option to CFLAGS in zipl/boot/Makefile?
Why we have not seen this problem under RHEL and SLES up to now?

Bug#758810: [gdm3] gdm3: fails to start gnome

2014-08-25 Thread Josep M. Perez Cancer

Thanks for your quick response. Indeed that was the problem.

My shell configuration files were quite old. I have updated them with
the changes in /etc/skel. In addition, for some reason I had
.bash_profile instead of .profile, and the later was a symlink to the
former. The symlink dated back to October 2008. I fixed this too, and
now it is working correctly.

Thanks for your help!

I think this might be the error that is terminating your X session.
/etc/gdm3/Xsession is a /bin/sh script and sources ~/.profile.

Please try removing bash-specific things from your ~/.profile, moving
them to ~/.bashrc, or guarding them with:

 if [ z$BASH_VERSION != z ]
 then
 ... enable bash completion or source .bashrc or whatever ...
 fi

It might also be useful to guard things that are specific to an
interactive shell with

 if [ -n $PS1 ]
 then
 ... things that only make sense in an interactive shell ...
 fi

If that is indeed the cause of this error, I'll leave it to the gdm
maintainers to decide whether this is a gdm bug or not. According to the
changelog, it has sourced ~/.profile since gdm/2.20.2-1 in 2007, so this
isn't a recent thing (but /etc/X11/Xsession doesn't, which explains why
you don't see this in non-gdm).

We (Vasudev and I) are currently trying to look into this issue.

Do you have a clue how the xulrunner binary got replaced in Debian unstable?

Kiwix gets launches via

xulrunner-version $BINARY_DIR/../lib/kiwix/application.ini $@

But I cannot find anything that replaces the xulrunner-version
executable in unstable at the moment.

Any idea??? Or did this transition break kiwix completely (it has been
RC buggy for a while, but we were about to get it fixed two weeks
before the xulrunner packages got removed from unstable).

Mike

Source: cyrus-imapd-2.4
Version: 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9
Severity: serious

I was looking at why 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1 on s390x didn't migrate
a few days ago. Turns out there is a binNMU-safe issue. Take for example
cyrus-caldav-2.4. That package has:

Depends: cyrus-common-2.4 (= ${binary:Version}), ${shlibs:Depends},
${misc:Depends}

Which in the binnmu got expanded to:

Depends: cyrus-common-2.4 (= 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1), libc6 (= 2.15),
libcomerr2 (= 1.01), libdb5.3, libical1 (= 1.0), libsasl2-2, libsqlite3-0 (=
3.6.0), libssl1.0.0 (= 1.0.0), libwrap0 (= 7.6-4~), libxml2 (= 2.8.0),
zlib1g (= 1:1.2.0), cyrus-common (= 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1)

Notice the final cyrus-common (= 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1)

Since cyrus-common is arch:all, version 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1 doesn't
exist, so cyrus-caldav-2.4 becomes uninstallable.

This happened to other packages from the same source, but I guess the
root is the same as it got expanded from misc:Depends.

2014-08-25 Thread Ondřej Surý
The patch was slightly wrong linking all non -2.4 packages
to transitional cyrus-common-2.4, so I have uploaded fixed
version that should supercede DELAYED upload.

Thanks for the poke...

Cheers,
Ondrej

 I'm pretty sure 2.2.8 would resolve almost all the outstaing issues.

 However, after inspecting 2.2.8 I found it B-D on Java EE 6 APIs (e.g.
 javax.enterprise.context) and AFAICT they are not available in Debian
 yet.

I see that we are now working with three people on this issue. :) I've
pushed some small changes. Please let me know if you agree with the
updated get-orig-source target and if we should use upstream's SVN
repository from now on. I couldn't find a source tarball for 2.2.8.

I'm now going to rebase your debian-build patch. Perhaps some of those
dependencies can be avoided.

Markus

Hi,

It seems db5.3 is not binnmu safe. On s390x, there was a binnmu, with version
5.3.28-5+b1. This makes libdb5.3-java uninstallable on s390x, as it depends on
libdb5.3 5.3.28-5, which is no longer available (only 5.3.28-5+b1 is
available).

Cheers,

Bug#758725: package mrpt_1:1.2.1-1 FTBFS on i386, amd64, mips*

2014-08-25 Thread Jurica Stanojkovic
 Good! Just for curiosity: are all other unit tests passing?

I have re-run tests again to be sure and they all pass.
TEST(ReactiveNavTests, LoadNavLogFile) and TEST(MonteCarlo2D, RunSampleDataset)
are skipped on big endian.
Also TEST(Synch, CSemaphore_named ) has returned the mesage:
*Skipping test* It seems the kernel doesn't support named semaphores in this
platform.

 It would be great if you could confirm that the current head of git
master is building correctly in mips...

It has been built correctly on mipsel over weekend.
On mips I am trying to build package.
It will take more time on mips, because mips machine that I use is slower then
the mipsel one.

Jurica

Subject: Re: Bug#758725: package mrpt_1:1.2.1-1 FTBFS on i386, amd64, mips*

 With these changes I was able to build package on mips*

Good! Just for curiosity: are all other unit tests passing? Because
that means that de-serialization is actually working (it's used in
other tests, like in ReactiveNavTests.LoadNavLogFile).

I have finally solved the pragma pack problem properly, with these 2
additional commits:
4)
https://github.com/jlblancoc/mrpt/commit/cd4878874b930e151deb6d89577c215c687b80b3
5)

It would be great if you could confirm that the current head of git

I guess it may take a long time to build in mips, so thank you very
much for your tests!!

Cheers,
JL

Bug#759232: gtktrain: FTBFS - Makefile:206: *** missing separator

2014-08-25 Thread Michael Tautschnig
Package: gtktrain
Version: 0.9b-13
Severity: serious

[...]

make has become stricter, and this is likely solved by actually following the
advice, i.e., replace tabs.

The full build log is attached; please do let me know if the problem is
unreproducible, in which case I shall try to investigate further.

Bug#754982: NMU of transmission?

 Hi,

 The new version of Transmission, (ie: version 2.84) solves the issue
 with miniupnpc. Can you upload that one? If not, would you agree that I
 do an NMU of it?

I think you should NMU to DELAYED/5 now. No point in asking if it's OK to NMU,
as there hasn't been a maintainer reply in over a month.

Cheers,

Bug#759235: [pkg-php-pear] Bug#759235: aws-sdk-for-php: FTBFS - Call to a member function expects() on boolean

2014-08-25 Thread David Prévot
Hi ftpmasters,

aws-sdk-for-php 2.6.7-1 now FTBFS, but aws-sdk-for-php 2.6.7-2 is in NEW
for more than two months because it makes its documentation available in a
second binary package, could you please accept it?

I’ve been uploading all new upstream releases to experimental since
2.6.7-2 (without shipping the documentation), and I’d prefer to properly
address the issue with the latest upstream release (2.6.15) rather than
workaround it by simply deactivating the testsuite.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

David

Hi Guillem,

libbsd/0.7.0 caused this regression building freebsd-libs and possibly
kfreebsd-10 as well. Could you give some advice please?

Should we drop funopen etc. from freebsd-glue's stdio.h now that libbsd
provides them? Or would that create other issues? Thanks.

Did you modify the build environment in any way?

I'm OK with that. I noticed mojarra source jars in Maven central
repository are incomplete because don't contain some needed files
(e.g. .dtd, .properties, .xsd, etc). So, maybe the best option is to
switch to upstream's SVN as you said.

 I'm now going to rebase your debian-build patch. Perhaps some of those

I'll take care of the missing B-D on JavaEE 6.0/7.0 API.

Indeed I might have to investigate, there could be a local issue here.

 The following in your build output looks strange:

I will investigate in the next hours - the no-space-left-on-device problem is
resolved, but nevertheless the problem persists on my end.

I will debug and will let you know.

 into the debian/control which doesn't help matters just exacerbates the
 problem. I'm sitting here in the DC14 Hacklab working on packaging issues and
 have discussed that move with several other DDs who think it was a poor move
 on the part of the bzr team.

This is a regression in paramiko, and this fix is a trivial and
non-risky change. Why can't this bug be fixed in the paramiko package
directly for the time being, why does it have to wait to be fixed in
upstream? I submitted a patch for this in June.

That would have allowed the bug to be fixed in a timely manner
without, preventing the removal of bzr and a lot of other packages
from testing without any intervention from us:

% apt-cache rdepends bzr python-bzrlib | grep -v | | uniq | wc -l

A Conflict was the quickest way in which I could unbreak bzr for its
users considering the paramiko Debian bug was stalled. I agree this is
not an ideal workaround - but I was hoping paramiko would soon be
fixed, after which I could remove the conflict.

An alternative workaround for me is to patch bzr to disable its paramiko
support if it finds a broken version of paramiko. If this paramiko
bug stays open for much longer then I'll see if I can do that instead.

If there's anything further I can do to help get this bug fixed in paramiko
(upstream or in Debian), please let me know.

Yes.

 Why we have not seen this problem under RHEL and SLES up to now?

Can you show a RHEL or SLES that uses gcc 4.9? Or any
Redhat/Fedora/SUSE with support for s390* that uses it? RHEL 7 uses 4.8

Maybe you should ask the gcc people why they enable this check on the

I installed Jessie yesterday (24 Aug) and am experiencing this problem:

I don't have the script /etc/init.d/libvirt-bin so the 'hack' mentioned
about isn't an option.

I'm a real noob so please go easy! I am, however, happy to help.
Please let me know what other information I can provide you with (and
how if not obvious).

Bug#750910: Status of sitplus (Was: Bug#750910: sitplus: Please update to use wxwidgets3.0)

2014-08-25 Thread Cesar Mauri
Hi Andreas,

 I'm CCing César Mauri, the upstream developer, just in case he wants
 to add something to the discussion.
 César, if you would be willing to spent some time into the packaging for
 Debian while we would be happy to help you in packaging questions we
 would consider keeping the package inside Debian. Otherwise I'm afraid
 that we need to drop it from the Debian mirrors.

I've just fixed the issues which prevented to build libsitplus and
sitplus against wxwidgets 3.0. Changes are available in git repo, branch
develop. If needed I could prepare several tarballs. Is enough?

Best

César

I just confirmed the freebsd-glue problem happens building kfreebsd-10
10.0 in sid.

Do you think it's okay to drop those definitions from freebsd-glue and
use libbsd's? Even though they're different? I'm not sure, and hope
Guillem or someone else can explain it.

But otherwise please go ahead and patch freebsd-glue in unstable as soon
as you think it's the right fix. We do need it pretty fast.

I guess yes if you would clarify the role of libsitplus. Is this
something sitplus would depend from or just an extract for those who
simply want to link their own programs against it?

Kind regards

Bug#759236: transfig: FTBFS - Makefile:1218: *** missing separator

2014-08-25 Thread Michael Tautschnig
Control: severity -1 normal

Hi again,

[...]
 Indeed I might have to investigate, there could be a local issue here.

So while indeed some compiler experiments did cause the ultimate failure, there
is a genuine problem, it just doesn't quite show when using unmodified gcc. From
the build logs:

[...]
gccmakedep  -- -I.. -I../.. -Dlinux -D__amd64__ -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=199309L
  -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_SOURCE -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE
   -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64
  -DFUNCPROTO=15 -DNARROWPROTO  -- genbox.c gencgm.c gendxf.c
genepic.c gengbx.o genibmgl.c genlatex.c genmap.c genmf.c genpic.c  genpictex.c
genps.c genpdf.c genpstex.c genpstricks.c gentextyl.c gentk.c genptk.c
gentpic.c  genbitmaps.c genge.c genmp.c genemf.c gensvg.c genshape.c
setfigfont.c psencode.c   readpics.c readeps.c readgif.c readpcx.c readppm.c
readpng.c readxpm.c  readxbm.c readtif.c readjpg.c asc85ec.c readpng.c readxpm.c

So this is supposed to create the dependencies for the Makefile, but it really
generates no output, because the command actually fails: gengbx.o isn't a good
source file... Fixing this typo (should be gengbx.c in the definition of the
SRCS variable) both makes my build work and does result in proper dependencies
being generated.

Best,
Michael

Bug#759249: kfreebsd-10 FTBFS with libbsd/0.7.0

2014-08-25 Thread Steven Chamberlain
I've staged in trunk/freebsd-glue r5500 the changes I think are
necessary for this.

It seems OK to me since freebsd-glue has libbsd-dev as an install-time
dependency. I've bumped the version of that to make sure that it will
be 0.7.0 or later, having funopen etc.

What remained was to check reverse-depends: if they require funopen,
that libbsd's implementation will be suitable for them. It seems:
  * kfreebsd-10 10.1 was happy with this change - sometime in the future
I'll actually test the aic7xxx stuff on real hardware
  * freebsd-libs is fixed by this
  * freebsd-buildutils is okay too

So I think you should go ahead and upload it to unstable. Getting the
above packages building again is critical. Blame me for any problems we
might run into later. :)

Thanks!

Bug#759286: smokegen generates wrong cast function for smokeqt

2014-08-25 Thread Matthias Klose
Package: src:smokeqt
Version: 4:4.14.0-1
Severity: serious
Tags: sid jessie

This causes #759239 and #759205:

In stable, smokegen generates smokedata.cpp(cast), which ends with:

[...]
case 152: //QXmlStreamWriter
  switch(to) {
case 152: return (void*)(QXmlStreamWriter*)xptr;
default: return xptr;
  }
default: return xptr;
  }
}

in unstable, the function ends as:

case 155: //QXmlStreamWriter
  switch(to) {
case 155: return (void*)(QXmlStreamWriter*)xptr;
default: return xptr;
  }
case 157: //iterator
  switch(to) {
case 157: return (void*)(iterator*)xptr;
default: return xptr;
  }
default: return xptr;
  }
}

This doesn't look right, and ends with a build error. Removing the 157 case lets
the build continue and then fails further on with

Bug#759249: kfreebsd-10 FTBFS with libbsd/0.7.0

2014-08-25 Thread Steven Chamberlain
Sorry, I forgot -- normally there should be an ABI bump when symbols are
removed (leading to a round of binNMUs). But I've checked that none of
the reverse deps need this:

  * kfreebsd-10 only looks at the header definitions AFAICT, certainly
the kernel isn't linking against userland libs...
  * freebsd-libs isn't using funopen etc.
  * freebsd-buildutils isn't using funopen etc.

So we're okay, fingers crossed.

Bug#759249: kfreebsd-10 FTBFS with libbsd/0.7.0

2014-08-25 Thread Christoph Egger
Hi!

Steven Chamberlain ste...@pyro.eu.org writes:
 Sorry, I forgot -- normally there should be an ABI bump when symbols are
 removed (leading to a round of binNMUs). But I've checked that none of
 the reverse deps need this:

Good catch totally forgot about that as well.

FWIW we need a fixed clang or so before building kfreebsd-10 as the
/usr/include/sys/types.h comes from the biarch packages while the real
ones (wich are installed due to build-dependencies) live in
/usr/include/$triple which should be in clang's patch but currently
isn't. Sylvestre promised to be looking into that.

 Indeed this should be clang++-3.4 it seems:

 # ls -l /usr/bin/clang++*
 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 Aug 19 06:58 /usr/bin/clang++-3.4 -
 ../lib/llvm-3.4/bin/clang++

 You may want to depend on the clang package instead of clang-3.4 |
 clang-3.5.

 The full build log is attached; please do let me know if the problem is
 unreproducible, in which case I shall try to investigate further.

 Best,
 Michael
