Bug#759200: evolution: uninstallable in sid/amd64: needs libgtkhtml-4.0-0 4.8
Package: libevolution,libgtkhtml-4.0-0 Version: libevolution/3.12.5-1,libgtkhtml-4.0-0/4.8.4-1 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 2.2.1 (Mainly opening this bug to prevent migration of libgtkhtml-4.0-0 to testing before it has been resolved.) libevolution Depends: libgtkhtml-4.0-0 (= 4.6), libgtkhtml-4.0-0 ( 4.8) so it is not installable in unstable/amd64 now that libgtkhtml has been upgraded to 4.8. It looks as though it might be possible to address this by binNMUing src:evolution (and possibly other packages) on amd64: it was built against the new gtkhtml on armel, armhf, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, mipsel, powerpc, s390x and sparc, and has not been built yet (so it is likely to pick up the new gtkhtml) on mips. I notice that Andreas uploaded the new versions of libevolution and libgtkhtml-4.0-0 on the same day, but his libevolution was built against an older libgtkhtml-4.0-0. Was this intentional? Does that Evolution version work correctly with the new libgtkhtml-4.0-0? Bug#758810: [gdm3] gdm3: fails to start gnome
Thanks for your quick response. Indeed that was the problem. My shell configuration files were quite old. I have updated them with the changes in /etc/skel. In addition, for some reason I had .bash_profile instead of .profile, and the later was a symlink to the former. The symlink dated back to October 2008. Please try removing bash-specific things from your ~/.profile, moving them to ~/.bashrc, or guarding them with: if [ z$BASH_VERSION != z ] then ... enable bash completion or source .bashrc or whatever ... fi It might also be useful to guard things that are specific to an interactive shell with if [ -n $PS1 ] then ... things that only make sense in an interactive shell ... fi If that is indeed the cause of this error, I'll leave it to the gdm maintainers to decide whether this is a gdm bug or not. According to the changelog, it has sourced ~/.profile since gdm/2.20.2-1 in 2007, so this isn't a recent thing (but /etc/X11/Xsession doesn't, which explains why you don't see this in non-gdm). Turns out there is a binNMU-safe issue. Take for example cyrus-caldav-2.4. That package has: Depends: cyrus-common-2.4 (= ${binary:Version}), ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends} Which in the binnmu got expanded to: Depends: cyrus-common-2.4 (= 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1), libc6 (= 2.15), libcomerr2 (= 1.01), libdb5.3, libical1 (= 1.0), libsasl2-2, libsqlite3-0 (= 3.6.0), libssl1.0.0 (= 1.0.0), libwrap0 (= 7.6-4~), libxml2 (= 2.8.0), zlib1g (= 1:1.2.0), cyrus-common (= 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1) Notice the final cyrus-common (= 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1) Since cyrus-common is arch:all, version 2.4.17+caldav~beta9-9+b1 doesn't exist, so cyrus-caldav-2.4 becomes uninstallable. I see that we are now working with three people on this issue. :) I've pushed some small changes. Please let me know if you agree with the updated get-orig-source target and if we should use upstream's SVN repository from now on. I couldn't find a source tarball for 2.2.8. Bug#758725: package mrpt_1:1.2.1-1 FTBFS on i386, amd64, mips*
Good! Just for curiosity: are all other unit tests passing? I have re-run tests again to be sure and they all pass. TEST(ReactiveNavTests, LoadNavLogFile) and TEST(MonteCarlo2D, RunSampleDataset) are skipped on big endian. Also TEST(Synch, CSemaphore_named ) has returned the mesage: *Skipping test* It seems the kernel doesn't support named semaphores in this platform. It would be great if you could confirm that the current head of git master is building correctly in mips... It has been built correctly on mipsel over weekend. On mips I am trying to build package. It will take more time on mips, because mips machine that I use is slower then the mipsel one. Just for curiosity: are all other unit tests passing? Because that means that de-serialization is actually working (it's used in other tests, like in ReactiveNavTests.LoadNavLogFile). Bug#759235: [pkg-php-pear] Bug#759235: aws-sdk-for-php: FTBFS - Call to a member function expects() on boolean
Hi ftpmasters, aws-sdk-for-php 2.6.7-1 now FTBFS, but aws-sdk-for-php 2.6.7-2 is in NEW for more than two months because it makes its documentation available in a second binary package, could you please accept it? Ive been uploading all new upstream releases to experimental since 2.6.7-2 (without shipping the documentation), and Id prefer to properly address the issue with the latest upstream release (2.6.15) rather than workaround it by simply deactivating the testsuite. I noticed mojarra source jars in Maven central repository are incomplete because don't contain some needed files (e.g. .dtd, .properties, .xsd, etc). So, maybe the best option is to switch to upstream's SVN as you said. I'm now going to rebase your debian-build patch. Perhaps some of those dependencies can be avoided. I'm sitting here in the DC14 Hacklab working on packaging issues and have discussed that move with several other DDs who think it was a poor move on the part of the bzr team. This is a regression in paramiko, and this fix is a trivial and non-risky change. Why can't this bug be fixed in the paramiko package directly for the time being, why does it have to wait to be fixed in upstream? I submitted a patch for this in June. That would have allowed the bug to be fixed in a timely manner without, preventing the removal of bzr and a lot of other packages from testing without any intervention from us: % apt-cache rdepends bzr python-bzrlib | grep -v | | uniq | wc -l 49 A Conflict was the quickest way in which I could unbreak bzr for its users considering the paramiko Debian bug was stalled. I agree this is not an ideal workaround - but I was hoping paramiko would soon be fixed, after which I could remove the conflict. An alternative workaround for me is to patch bzr to disable its paramiko support if it finds a broken version of paramiko. If this paramiko bug stays open for much longer then I'll see if I can do that instead. If there's anything further I can do to help get this bug fixed in paramiko (upstream or in Debian), please let me know. Why we have not seen this problem under RHEL and SLES up to now? Can you show a RHEL or SLES that uses gcc 4.9? Or any Redhat/Fedora/SUSE with support for s390* that uses it? Bug#750910: Status of sitplus (Was: Bug#750910: sitplus: Please update to use wxwidgets3.0)
Hi Andreas, I'm CCing César Mauri, the upstream developer, just in case he wants to add something to the discussion. César, if you would be willing to spent some time into the packaging for Debian while we would be happy to help you in packaging questions we would consider keeping the package inside Debian. Otherwise I'm afraid that we need to drop it from the Debian mirrors. I've just fixed the issues which prevented to build libsitplus and sitplus against wxwidgets 3.0. Changes are available in git repo, branch develop. If needed I could prepare several tarballs. Is enough? Bug#759236: transfig: FTBFS - Makefile:1218: *** missing separator
Control: severity -1 normal Hi again, [...] Indeed I might have to investigate, there could be a local issue here. So while indeed some compiler experiments did cause the ultimate failure, there is a genuine problem, it just doesn't quite show when using unmodified gcc. From the build logs: [...] gccmakedep -- -I.. -I../.. -Dlinux -D__amd64__ -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=199309L -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_SOURCE -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -DFUNCPROTO=15 -DNARROWPROTO -- genbox.c gencgm.c gendxf.c genepic.c gengbx.o genibmgl.c genlatex.c genmap.c genmf.c genpic.c genpictex.c genps.c genpdf.c genpstex.c genpstricks.c gentextyl.c gentk.c genptk.c gentpic.c genbitmaps.c genge.c genmp.c genemf.c gensvg.c genshape.c setfigfont.c psencode.c readpics.c readeps.c readgif.c readpcx.c readppm.c readpng.c readxpm.c readxbm.c readtif.c readjpg.c asc85ec.c readpng.c readxpm.c So this is supposed to create the dependencies for the Makefile, but it really generates no output, because the command actually fails: gengbx.o isn't a good source file... Fixing this typo (should be gengbx.c in the definition of the SRCS variable) both makes my build work and does result in proper dependencies being generated. Bug#759249: kfreebsd-10 FTBFS with libbsd/0.7.0
I've staged in trunk/freebsd-glue r5500 the changes I think are necessary for this. It seems OK to me since freebsd-glue has libbsd-dev as an install-time dependency. I've bumped the version of that to make sure that it will be 0.7.0 or later, having funopen etc. What remained was to check reverse-depends: if they require funopen, that libbsd's implementation will be suitable for them. It seems: * kfreebsd-10 10.1 was happy with this change - sometime in the future I'll actually test the aic7xxx stuff on real hardware * freebsd-libs is fixed by this * freebsd-buildutils is okay too So I think you should go ahead and upload it to unstable. Getting the above packages building again is critical. Blame me for any problems we might run into later. :) Thanks! Bug#759249: kfreebsd-10 FTBFS with libbsd/0.7.0
Sorry, I forgot -- normally there should be an ABI bump when symbols are removed (leading to a round of binNMUs). But I've checked that none of the reverse deps need this: * kfreebsd-10 only looks at the header definitions AFAICT, certainly the kernel isn't linking against userland libs... * freebsd-libs isn't using funopen etc. * freebsd-buildutils isn't using funopen etc. So we're okay, fingers crossed. Bug#759249: kfreebsd-10 FTBFS with libbsd/0.7.0
Hi! Steven Chamberlain ste...@pyro.eu.org writes: Sorry, I forgot -- normally there should be an ABI bump when symbols are removed (leading to a round of binNMUs). But I've checked that none of the reverse deps need this: Good catch totally forgot about that as well. FWIW we need a fixed clang or so before building kfreebsd-10 as the /usr/include/sys/types.h comes from the biarch packages while the real ones (wich are installed due to build-dependencies) live in /usr/include/$triple which should be in clang's patch but currently isn't. Sylvestre promised to be looking into that. Christoph -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
