Bug#799550: libuhd003v5 lost its v5 suffix...

2015-09-20 Thread Raphaël Hertzog
Package: libuhd003
Version: 3.9.0-1
Severity: serious
User: de...@kali.org
Usertags: origin-kali

I just noticed that with uhd 3.9.0 libuhd003 lost the v5 suffix that had
been introduced with 3.8.5-2.1.

And the changelog has no explanation for this. So to avoid problems
when upgrading from jessie to stretch, this should be fixed again...

Thank you!

Many thanks for this report. It's easy to fix since pyke is versioning python-
ply using dh_python-ply (only on binary package). Rebuilding it should be
enough, but I will check (and fix also #790410) tomorrow.

This package fails to build in unstable because the build-dependency on
libmysqlclient15-dev cannot be met. libmysqlclient15-dev used to be
provided by mysql-5.5, but this is no longer the case in version 5.6
(see #790257).

Please update your Build-Depends to libmysqlclient-dev

Works. Is gcompris-qt still using GStreamer, or are they just going via
QtMultimedia then (which for Debian would still be GStreamer)?

Thanks a lot for your help!

No need to postpone - on the contrary you are encouraged to drop the
delay altogether and push your change directly to git - see LowNMU link

Hi,

We have noticed that aegisub is unfortunately not binNMU safe, when we
tried to rebuild it as a part of the GCC-5 transition. The issue is
caused by:

"""
override_dh_installdocs:
dh_installdocs --link-doc=aegisub
"""

This statement makes aegisub-l10n depend strictly on
aegisub (= ${binary:Version}), which is required to ensure the correct
copyright file is always present. Unfortunately, it also makes the
result not binNMU safe since aegisub-l10n is an arch:all package and
aegisub is an arch:any package.

Please either drop the link doc or change the above into something
like:

"""
override_dh_installdocs:
dh_installdocs -i
dh_installdocs --remaining --link-doc=aegisub
"""

Regardless of how you solve it, please keep in mind that you will have
to do a "symlink_to_dir" transition. I recommend that you use
dpkg-maintscript-helper for that (possibly via dh_installdeb's
maintscript file).

Thanks,
~Niels

It seems that the reason that digikam failed to build with GCC 5 was that it
failed to parse an unusual version number; now it fails for a completely
different reason.

Maintainers, are you planning on uploading a recent digikam version? I could
NMU to add this build dependency but there still remain other RC bugs.

This seems to be fixed upstream in 1.06. From its Changes file:

Bugfixes:
- Some tests failed due to stronger hostname verifcation
in IO::Socket:SSL >= 2.017. Fixed that by adding
proper certificates with cn 'localhost' and a test
which verifies the failing connection with wrong
  hostname. Thanks to ppisar[...]redhat.com. This
  fixes rt #106874.

Yes it is, although the current codebase is bound to get replaced by
gcompris-qt (I have to resubmit a package for it), once all the boards
have been ported.

Bug#762932: [Aptitude-devel] Bug#762932: aptitude: in an upgrade with 'U', aptitude chose to downgrade a package

Which IMHO clearly says "you may prefer downgrades over removals".

I'd don't consider this "grave" at all, as it neither "makes the
package in question unusable or mostly so", nor "causes data loss",
nor "introduces a security hole allowing access to the accounts of
users who use the package". And I've only used "important" instead of
your initial severity estimation because the downgrade seems to have
been unnecessary.

I though never ran into that issue (despite having
Aptitude::ProblemResolver::Remove-Level set to "maximum" which should
have a very similar effect), so I assume that possible further
non-default settings could have caused this. Please post all your
Aptitude resolver related settings (or confirm that the above
mentioned setting is the only one).

Regards, Axel

thanks for the patch, unfortunately I've closed the bug about 5 hours
before you sent your patch. I've picked the fixes for the gcc warnings,
they'll be shipped with the next upload.

Cheers,

Bug#785840: gcompris: Please update to GStreamer 1.x

2015-09-20 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
This bug is flagged RC and will cause gcompris to be removed from

What is needed to port gcompris to gstreamer 1.0? The gcompris
package is an important package for Debian Edu and Debian Jr, and it
is unclear to me what is needed to keep it in testing.

kdbus does indeed only support recent kernels, i.e. 4.1. Any idea how
this can be expressed in the dkms config?

The dkms.conf has MAKE[0]="make KVER=$kernelver", but the actual
makefiles use KERNELVER.
Could you /usr/src/kdbus-20150901t074837.245fe93/dkms.conf
and use
MAKE[0]="make KERNELVER=$kernelver" instead

Bug#785840: gcompris: Please update to GStreamer 1.x

2015-09-20 Thread Sebastian Dröge
Hi,

I forwarded this upstream a while ago without any response. Is gcompris still
actively developed?
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=747949

Basically, replace the 0.10 build dependencies with 1.0. Then make things
compile and work again. See this small porting guide here
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/tree/docs/random/porting-to-1.0.txt

If you have any further questions please ask :)

If you can point me to the code that uses gstreamer, I can also take a short
look.

Yes, I believe so, though it seem to focus mostly on the Android
version these days.

I tried with this patch and dh --with-autoreconf, but did not get a
working configure script. :(

Version: 1.2.0-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package modifies conffiles.
This is forbidden by the policy, see
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s-config-files

10.7.3: "[...] The easy way to achieve this behavior is to make the
configuration file a conffile. [...] This implies that the default
version will be part of the package distribution, and must not be
modified by the maintainer scripts during installation (or at any
other time)."

Note that once a package ships a modified version of that conffile,
dpkg will prompt the user for an action how to handle the upgrade of
this modified conffile (that was not modified by the user).

Further in 10.7.3: "[...] must not ask unnecessary questions
(particularly during upgrades) [...]"

If a configuration file is customized by a maintainer script after
having asked some debconf questions, it may not be marked as a
conffile. Instead a template could be installed in /usr/share and used
by the postinst script to fill in the custom values and create (or
update) the configuration file (preserving any user modifications!).
This file must be removed during postrm purge.
ucf(1) may help with these tasks.
See also https://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling

In https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/09/msg00412.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

debsums reports modification of the following files,
from the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

  /etc/dyfi-update.conf

cheers,

Andreas

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package is no longer
installable in sid:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable

the reason why this is a native package).

Hi Holger,

Thank you for reporting this. It boils down to whether the special
characters in this @author tag is treated as a warning or an error,
which in turn depends on the locale of the build:

Dear Maintainer,

sitemesh builds differently in our setup, that is the installed size of
libsitemesh-java-doc is 213 when build with LC_ALL not set and when it's set
to "fr_CH.UTF-8" the installed size is 4999.

IOW: it produces different binary packages dependening whether+how LC_ALL is
set.

https://reproducible.debian.net/dbd/unstable/amd64/sitemesh_2.4.1+dfsg-4.debbindiff.html
shows how the binaries differ.

https://reproducible.debian.net/reproducible.html has a table explaining the
variations between two builds in our setup. (At the bottom of that page.)

https://reproducible.debian.net/logdiffs/unstable/amd64/sitemesh_2.4.1+dfsg-4.diff.gz
shows a diff between the two build logs, showing this diff:

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'sid' to 'experimental'.
It installed fine in 'sid', then the upgrade to 'experimental' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'sid' to 'experimental'.
It installed fine in 'sid', then the upgrade to 'experimental' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.

Hi,

a test with piuparts revealed that your package misses the copyright
file after an upgrade, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

After the upgrade /usr/share/doc/$PACKAGE/ is just an empty directory.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  sid -> experimental

in each of the 4 packages

  g++-mingw-w64 gfortran-mingw-w64 gobjc-mingw-w64 gobjc++-mingw-w64

Additional info may be available here:
https://wiki.debian.org/MissingCopyrightFile

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.14)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.mainstscript.
Do not forget to add 'Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends}' in d/control.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

cheers,

Andreas

Thanks for taking care of this and the other FTBFS bugs I reported! In
reviewing the logs for 0.6.0-3, I see that this same error has surfaced
on ppc64el; could you please extend this fix to that architecture too?

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'jessie'.
It installed fine in 'jessie', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.

Dear Maintainer,

dirspec fails to build from source in unstable/amd64 as the PEP8 checks
fail. Not 100% convinced that failing PEP8 should cause a package FTBFS
although I do rather like the sentiment in general.

Hi,

Your package seems to include some files that lack sources
in prefered forms of modification:

data/htdocs/js/lib/jquery.js

According to Debian Free Software Guidelines [1] (DFSG) #2:
"The program must include source code, and must allow distribution
in source code as well as compiled form.".

This could also constitute a license violation for some copyleft licenses such
as the GNU GPL.

In order to solve this problem, you could:
1. repack the origin tarball adding the missing source to it.
2 add the source files to "debian/missing-sources" directory

Both way satisfies the requirement that we ship the source. Second option
might be preferable due to the following reasons [2]:
 - Upstream can do it too and you could even supply a patch to them, thus full
filling our social contract [3], see particularly §2.
 - If source and non-source are in different locations, ftpmasters may
miss the source and (needlessly) reject the package.
 - The source isn't duplicated in every .diff.gz/.debian.tar.* (though
this only really matters for larger sources).

You could also ask debian...@lists.debian.org or #debian-qa for more
guidance.

reason? AFAIK Pike doesn't use libsoprano. I did notice that the package FTBFS
due to a new TYPEOF() macro in libfreetype 2.6, however.

Dear Maintainer,

pike8.0 fails to build from source due to missing Build-Depends on
libsoprano-dev. This was previously pulled-in via a transitive
relationship.

How odd.. I was grepping some build-logs to find instances of this issue
and somehow pike8.0 snuck into that list. Closing this bug accordingly.

Would you like a bug for this instead? :)

Hi maintainer,

your package deejayd currently still depends on GStreamer 0.10.

GStreamer 0.10 is no longer maintained and supported by the upstream
project since almost 3 years, and contains many known bugs that are
fixed in the new 1.x release series of GStreamer. Next to many bug
fixes, the new release series also contains many other improvements,
new features and a more streamlined API.

For the next Debian release GStreamer 0.10 is planned to be removed,
and if your package is not updated it might not be included in the
release. Please update your package to use the new version as soon as
possible.

If you need any help with porting or have further questions, please
feel free to also contact me privately.

Best regards, Sebastian

PS: See https://bugs.debian.org/785198 and

The i386 and powerpc builds of opensurgsim both failed because many
tests reported errors of the form

Eigen::internal::plain_array::plain_array()

(The powerpc build also encountered an unrelated test suite error,
which I'll report separately.)

Could you please take a look? Per the error message, you may find
