There is less information in the reproducible builds link.

And from this snippet, and apt-offline's build configuration, it seems to be a
issue with debhelper.

Can you please provide some steps for me, to try and reproduce it locally ?

Package: octave-ocs
Version: 0.1.5-2
Severity: grave

When running "pkg load ocs" in octave, the following error message is displayed:

warning: addpath: /usr/share/octave/packages/ocs-0.1.4/utl: No such file or
directory

(and other similar ones)

As a consequence, ocs functions are not available in the octave path.

The problem comes from debian/patches/set_nonarch_path_for_pkg_add which has
not been updated for the 0.1.5 upstream version.

Package: roxterm
Version: 2.9.5-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

When I start roxterm from gnome-terminal, it crashes with tons(>1000) of
strings like
"** (roxterm:28783): WARNING **: VTE's inner-border property unavailable"
and segfault. Numbers after "roxterm:" are the same in all strings, but new
after each crash.
Thats realy stange, becouse I hadn`t changed any options in my system or
roxterm for a while
when I found roxterm doesn`t work. May be problem is in my new themse for GTK+
(Flat - Plat)
and Gnome Shell (Sequoia-ng). I installed them in 3-4 days before first crash
so it looks like wrong idea.
Also I installed some packages for themse:
albatross-gtk-theme blackbird-gtk-theme bluebird-gtk-theme greybird-gtk-theme
gtk2-engines-murrine murrine-themes
but deleting them with aptitude purge, reinstalling roxterm, restarting gnome,
creating and reloginig to a new user
(with standart themse: Adwaita) and evean rebooting don`t fix my problem.
So I don`t know, what caused that error. According to the error string the
problem is in VTE,
but it doesn`t looks broken. Gnome terminal, for example, works with no
problem.

I forgot to say, I have transparent background in roxterm. May be that`s
important.

Thank you for your consideration.

Bug#865379: Package removal ahead

2017-06-20 Thread Ole Streicher
Source: iausofa-c
Severity: serious

As we discussed in the debian-astro mailing list, this package is
subject to be removed in the Buster cycle. This mail is the last call to
either switch to the free "erfa" package with the same API (except that
the prefix is replaced by "era"), or to scream loudly and take over.

If there is no such response within a week, I will file a request to
remove this package.

Best regards

Ole

Bug#865361: linux-image-4.9.0-3-amd64: kernel stuck at boot on HP ProLiant DL360 G4p

2017-06-20 Thread Andreas Schwarz
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.9.30-2+deb9u1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

After upgrading my systems to debian 9.0, which provides a 4.9.0-3-amd64 kernel
our HP ProLiant DL360 G4p Systems stop booting the kernel and complain about
a bug (NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup). This concerns all our DL360 G4p devices,
others seem to work so far. On the affected machines I need to boot the former
active 3.16.43-2 kernel.

I got the folowing output when booting 4.9.30-2

Bug#865316: regression in keyboard layout selection (Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu etc missing)

Move Indian keyboard layouts from base.xml.in to base.extras.xml.in

Apparently the Indian keyboard layouts in xkeyboard-config are not
very useful because of limitations in xkb. In xkb, it is not possible
to output several characters when one key is pressed but that seems
sometimes necessary.

For Indian languages, the input methods supplied by ibus-m17n appear
to be more useful, having the xkb keyboard layouts show up as well in
the gnome-control centre confuse the user because of too many useless
choices.

Therefore, Anish Patil suggested to hide these Indian keyboard layouts
in the gnome-control-centre.

The easiest way to hide them is to move them from
/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.xml to
/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.extras.xml because gnome-control-centre
does not list the layouts from base.extras.xml.

base.extras.xml seems to be for rarely used layouts, so these Indian
layouts seem to fet better there than in base.xml.

This is completely arbitrary (Sri Lankan Tamil is there but Indian Tamil
is not there for example). This must be fixed. I wonder why would
someone even do that? May be for performance, but what criteria is used
to push some languages to extra?

Thanks for the bug report.  Fixed version 0.1.5-3 is now in
experimental.  It will be uploaded to unstable once the transition
Octave 4.0 → 4.2 will  be sorted out.

Rafael, I don't see the point in uploading it to experimental. Since
the package now FTBFS in unstable, a binNMU will not work, and a
sourceful upload will therefore be required for the transition. So
let's do it now rather than later.

You are right, I should have uploaded it to unstable, I just got
confused. I will soon upload version 1.0.5-4 to unstable.

Sorry, it is a bit of .conkerorrc that has been there forever (the

gnome-control-center reads this data from
/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev.xml, from the xkb-data package. If you
have org.gnome.desktop.input-sources.show-all-sources set, it will also
read from evdev.extras.xml. Between jessie and stretch, Malayalam has
moved from evdev.xml to evdev.extras.xml. So you can get it to show up
with this command:

dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/show-all-sources true

I have no idea why it's been moved to evdev.extras

Indeed. I only removed it from Build-Depends and not from Depends.
Thanks for noticing.

Bug#865294: conkeror: Initialisation fails with firefox-esr 52-2

I'm sorry, but I can't reproduce your issue here. Conkeror starts up
without issue with my previous session (as I have configured it).

Current running version here:

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0)
Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 conkeror/1.0.3 (Debian-1.0.3+git170123-1)

Installed firefox-esr package is at version 52.2.0esr-1~deb9u1. I also
checked: Firefox hasn't been updated since I restarted Conkeror the
last time, so that Firefox-ESR version works fine for me.

Can you check if you have the same firefox-esr package version? A
firefox-esr package with a version of "52-2" does not exist.

Please also check if

* you have any add-ons installed which might have caused this, or
* an individual conkerorrc with some javascript code causing this, or
* loaded some specific conkeror modules in you conkerorrc and the
issue is in conkeror, but module-specific.

Regards, Axel

Oh, it does not work in xfce as well. Installer had configured Malayalam
correctly, but trying to add again does not show Malayalam or other

It still works fine in xfce and possibly in other DEs.

All the missing layouts are defined as a variant of in layout (which is
still present). I think the gnome rewrite did not consider the
possibility of variants at all.

Bug#865316: regression in keyboard layout selection (Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu etc missing)

2017-06-20 Thread Pirate Praveen
package: gnome-control-center
version: 1:3.22.2-3
severity: serious
justification: it is a regression, it was there in jessie and even
before, but missing in stretch

keyboard selection option is gnome is missing Malayalam and all other
Indian Languages. Tamil is still there just because it came as part of
Sri Lanka.

I think this is a very essential feature and it should be fixed in a
point release.

See the attached images (first one gnome 3.8 from ubuntu 14.04, it was
same in jessie as well).

Bug#782030: stunnel4: Fails to restart on slow/loaded systems

2017-06-20 Thread Ferenc Wágner
Control: found -1 3:5.39-2

On Mon, 06 Apr 2015 19:16:24 +0200 Tollef Fog Heen wrote:

Unfortunately, this bug is still present and probably wasn't fixed in
the intermediate versions either. In my reading the killproc function
does not wait for the signalled process to exit, so nothing changed with
the init script rework in this respect. To make stunnel always lose the
exit race, I recompiled with the following patch:

--- a/src/stunnel.c
+++ b/src/stunnel.c
@@ -309,6 +309,7 @@
 sleep(1); /* to avoid log trashing */
 }
 }
+sleep (10); /* wait before exiting */
 }

/* return 1 when a short delay is needed before another try */

Still, "systemctl stop stunnel4" is instantenous, and leaves behind the
stunnel4 process for 10 seconds. I tested with the shipped sample
config, with and without the "pid" directive. Restart also fails:

Jun 20 14:06:01 elm systemd[1]: Stopping LSB: Start or stop stunnel 4.x (TLS
tunnel for network daemons)...
Jun 20 14:06:01 elm stunnel: LOG5[main]: Terminated
Jun 20 14:06:01 elm stunnel4[1000]: Stopping TLS tunnels:
/etc/stunnel/sample.conf: stopped
Jun 20 14:06:01 elm systemd[1]: Stopped LSB: Start or stop stunnel 4.x (TLS
tunnel for network daemons).
Jun 20 14:06:01 elm systemd[1]: Starting LSB: Start or stop stunnel 4.x (TLS
tunnel for network daemons)...
Jun 20 14:06:01 elm stunnel4[1020]: Starting TLS tunnels:
/etc/stunnel/sample.conf: started
Jun 20 14:06:01 elm systemd[1]: Started LSB: Start or stop stunnel 4.x (TLS
tunnel for network daemons).

No errors, but the old stunnel4 process exits 10 seconds later, and no
new one is started. I wasn't able to capture logs of this, but the new
process couldn't bind its listening sockets while the old one was still
running. #535924 did a better job on this, this needs investigation.

So I think the init script is still broken. Actually, an init script in
itself will never be fully correct under systemd because of the default
RemainAfterExit=yes in its SysV compatibility layer. So providing a
standalone systemd service file would be the best solution. I'd
recommend adding Type=notify support upstream (should be straightforward)
to avoid the need for PID files and using templated service (and for
bonus points, optionally socket) units for properly managing multiple
config files. However, as I read, upstream wants to move away from
supporting independent daemons (which is perfectly reasonable, as a
single daemon is multiplexing anyway), so the template stuff could be
left out without significant loss. #826883 should be linked here.

I'm willing to help with the above if needed. Unfortunately, this issue
now affects stretch as well, but probably can't be solved via a stable
update, being too fundamental.

Hi,
Invoking debian/rules manually without the help of dpkg-buildpackage
causes src:linux to FTBFS:

> dh_strip: -strip --strip-debug --remove-section=.comment
> --remove-section=.note --enable-deterministic-archives
> debian/libusbip-dev/usr/lib/libusbip.a failed to to execute: No such file or
> directory

Note the extra - prefix to the commands. How this comes about:

 1. debian/rules.real exports DEB_HOST_ARCH DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE
DEB_BUILD_ARCH but does not ensure they are defined, so they are
inserted into the environment as empty strings.

 2. Debian::Debhelper::Dh_Lib checks if DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE != BUILD, but
its dpkg_architecture_value uses value in the environment if
defined, even if empty, so it thinks DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE is "", but
DEB_BUILD_GNU_TYPE is "x86_64-linux-gnu" (for example), and
therefore thinks it's cross-compiling. It then prepends
"DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE-" to "strip", which expands to just "-".

Now, debian/rules.real is also checking DEB_{BUILD,HOST}_ARCH itself
(and potentially using DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE), without ensuring they are
defined, although this is unlikely to cause a problem in reality, since
when cross-compiling you will probably ensure these are all set anyway,
not just the ones that aren't the default. However, it's probably good
practice not to rely on that.

So, to fix this, please either move the "include debian/rules.defs" in
debian/rules.real to before any use of the DEB_* variables (which
includes /usr/share/dpkg/default.mk [which itself includes
architecture.mk], though I don't know if rules.defs has to be that late
in the file for other reasons) or add the appropriate DEB_FOO := ...
definitions to the group at the top of debian/rules.real

Regards,
James

Hi,

I just ACCEPTed libgetdata from NEW but noticed it was missing
attribution in debian/copyright for at least m4/ax_compare_version.m4.

(This is not exhaustive so please check over the entire package
carefully and address these on your next upload.)

Bug#865294: conkeror: Initialisation fails with firefox-esr 52-2

2017-06-20 Thread Axel Beckert
Hi John,

John Kozak wrote:

Thanks for the bug report. So far I had no relevant issues with
Conkeror and Firefox 52 (.0, maybe .1) except
https://bugs.debian.org/859364 which is important, but not grave.

Will check if I can reproduce your issue. At least I currently don't
see an according fix/commit nor an according bug report upstream.

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in stretch (in a stretch chroot, not a
sid chroot), your package failed to build on i386.

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on EC2 VM instances from
Amazon Web Services, using a clean, minimal and up-to-date chroot. Every

Hi!

LDC has been compiling happily without any issues for months, no other
distro reports issues (Ubuntu isn't affected, Fedora and OpenSUSE are
fine as well), I ran a couple of local compiles and the buildds /
reproduciblke builds project also recompiled LDC without triggering
this issue.

So, in conclusion I think this bug was never a bug in LDC in the first
place, instead it is much more likely that this was caused by some -
unfortunately still unknown - issue in another part of the software
stack LDC depends on, most likely LLVM.

In any case, I think it's safe to close this bug. If we ever hit this
again, we can file a new bug.

Matthias--- End Message ---

Hi!
It looks like this was never a bug in LDC, but some other part of the
stack. Everything is working fine for a month already, and nobody else
had this issue.

So I think it's safe to close this now.

Matthias

I also checked this one yesterday, but the problem was not immediately
obvious from the build log. James, thanks much for tracking it down and
providing patches! I've merged them locally, and will include them in
the new upstream release later today.

I checked the hurd-i386 failure yesterday, which seems to be related
to argv and envp's strings not being allocated in contiguous memory,
which looks like a "regression" or change of behavior. If I cannot get
this fixed quickly today, I'll just fix the ones for Linux and postpone
this one for later.

Thanks,
Guillem

Right, I was aware as I tend to keep an eye on the buildd status to
see whether there's any problem. Thanks for reporting this so quickly
though! :)

I checked this yesterday, and it's a problem with the prefix libtool
sometimes adds to test programs. This was fixed locally, and I'll try
to prepare a new upstream release later today.

Bug#865247: Please update dependencies from latex-xcolor to tl-latex-recommended

Hi Mattia,

> This is done in experimental

Thanks.

> BTW, don't you think it's kind of rude to drop it like that? I'd have
> expected a bug severity:important months before, push for it to be done,

I agree that I *could* have sent bug reports much earlier, but it disappeared
from my radar one year ago when it was already one year of tranistional
package. I did expect that maintainers pick that up.

I could have reuploaded another round of packages and reintroduce latex-xcolor,
but thought it is good time just after release, when everyone anyway
uploads new packages.

The severity is no sign of rudeness, just plain facts, it FTBFS. There is
nothing I can discuss away.

I have sent bug reports with different severity: those with binary deps
or suggests got important/normal, the ones with build-deps got a serious,
because this is what it is.

Enjoy, and relax

Norbert

Rafael, I don't see the point in uploading it to experimental. Since
the package now FTBFS in unstable, a binNMU will not work, and a
sourceful upload will therefore be required for the transition. So
let's do it now rather than later.

(by the way, I discovered that the version of octave-ocs in stretch is
affected by #865282, which is my fault, so this is another good reason
for fixing it in unstable now; I already pushed the fix to git)

This is done in experimental

BTW, don't you think it's kind of rude to drop it like that? I'd have
expected a bug severity:important months before, push for it to be done,
_then_ rise severity to serious to get it done even more, some NMUs, and
_then_ upload the breaking change.

Bug#865282: package functions are not added to Octave path

2017-06-20 Thread Sébastien Villemot
Package: octave-ocs
Version: 0.1.5-2
Severity: grave

When running "pkg load ocs" in octave, the following error message is displayed:

warning: addpath: /usr/share/octave/packages/ocs-0.1.4/utl: No such file or
directory

(and other similar ones)

As a consequence, ocs functions are not available in the octave path.

The problem comes from debian/patches/set_nonarch_path_for_pkg_add which has
not been updated for the 0.1.5 upstream version.

Hi,

I just ACCEPTed python-xapian-haystack from NEW but noticed it was
missing attribution in debian/copyright for at least David Sauve &

(This is not exhaustive so please check over the entire package

Dear maintainer,

latex-xcolor has been a dummy transitional package now since 2 releases
(since oldstable), and has been dropped in current unstable.

Please update your dependencies to texlive-latex-recommended.

Thanks
