Version: 4.9.1+dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

An XSS vulnerability was discovered in the Flash fallback files in
MediaElement, a library that is included with WordPress. Because the Flash
files are no longer needed for most use cases, they have been removed from
WordPress.

I'm not 100% sure of how bad this is for Debian packages as a lot of
flash items are removed, but it could be still possibly triggered by
the JavaScript around it (this is where the patches seem to be).

This impacts all versions back to 3.7

Bug#887798: firefox-esr: impossible to connect to Google domains

2018-01-19 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: firefox-esr
Version: 52.5.3esr-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

It is no longer possible to connect to Google domains. For instance:

Your connection is not secure

The owner of www.google.fr has configured their website improperly. To
protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected
to this website.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that
Firefox may only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not
possible to add an exception for this certificate.

And after clicking on "Advanced":

www.google.fr uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The
server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An
additional root certificate may need to be imported.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

This occurs with various Google domains (google.com, google.fr,
goo.gl), with and without -safe-mode.

Opera, lynx, curl and wget do not have this problem.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from

It installed fine in 'testing', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails

Bug#887765: root cause: missing dependency

Actually not; the ‘python-coverage’ source works with only the Python
3 packages of Sphinx, so doesn't need ‘python-sphinx-rtd-theme’ for
anything.

> ditto for
> * python3-sphinxcontrib.spelling
> * python-sphinxcontrib.spelling

I think perhaps you have discovered an unwanted interaction of having
both those packages installed; if so, this is evidently not a bug in
‘python-coverage’ source or its build process.

On 19-Jan-2018, Jeffrey Cliff wrote:
> ...removing python-sphinx python-sphinx-rtd-theme

That settles it, AFAICT. The ‘python-coverage’ package doesn't have a
bug preventing its build from source, using its declared build
dependencies.

Does that seem correct?

You may want to experiment with the interactions between Python 2 and
Python 3 packages for Sphinx, in order to make a reproducible set of
steps to report a bug in those packages.

Thanks for this report. The report does not specify what version of
the ‘python-coverage’ source package you are using. Can you set that
with a “found” command to the bug tracking system?

I see that the example session refers to ‘python-coverage-4.2+dfsg.1’,
which implies version “4.2+dfsg.1-2” the version in Debian Stretch.

None of the build servers report any such failure for this version

so we should first find out what is different about the environment
you are using to get this behaviour.

Thanks for updating the patch. I rebased/updated it for the latest upstream
release (6.0.3p1) and it seems to compile / run. I've forwarded it upstream[0]
to take a look at, and will upload to Debian as soon as they take a look at it.

Best wishes,

Can you confirm that removing the python-sphinx packages fixes the

either

1) the problem is in the package 'debian' directory somewhere - possibly
one of the patches that warn that files are patched more than once

(eg
dpkg-source: warning: diff
'coveragepy/debian/patches/03.remove-hotkeys.patch' patches file
coveragepy/coverage/htmlfiles/coverage_html.js more than once
dpkg-source: warning: diff
'coveragepy/debian/patches/03.remove-hotkeys.patch' patches file
coveragepy/coverage/htmlfiles/index.html more than once
dpkg-source: warning: diff
'coveragepy/debian/patches/03.remove-hotkeys.patch' patches file
coveragepy/coverage/htmlfiles/pyfile.html more than once
)...trying to run a slightly updated verison of the 'debian' directory(ie
one with an updated changelog) on the 4.4.2 source fails in the exact same
way.

2) problem is in upstream code, in the current version 4.4.2
https://bitbucket.org/ned/coveragepy

hope that helps.

Indeed; prior to debhelper/11.1 they were failing the "should"
requirement of having the "build" target build the package. It would
happen anyway because the "binary" target (called under fake(root))
would incorrectly inline the build-arch and build-indep sequence.

Obviously, buildds would be completely unaffected as they never use
"build" or "binary".

I am not comfortable adding additional layers of complexity to the
makefile parsing if I can at all avoid it. In all cases, packages
relying on this will eventually have to fix it.
The question now is: How many packages are affected by it? If it is
sufficiently low, it might be worth doing the clean up now to simplify
packaging in general. But in worst case, we will have to revert for now
and reintroduce this to compat 12.

Thanks,
~Niels

ticket, see launchpad for details )

Update the kernel ... you are using the old ABI=2. This is fixed for
ABI=3 in 4.14.13-1. You need something with 4.14.0-3 in the package name.

As a workaround you could install libelf-dev, can be removed again after
you update the kernel.

Bug#887632: [Debian-med-packaging] Bug#887632: progressivemauve FTBFS with glibc 2.26

2018-01-19 Thread Fabian Klötzl
Hi all,

This bug is easily fixed by forcing mauve to use the native getopt. A
half-hearted fix is pushed. However, I have trouble removing the
unnecessary files from the orig tarball, because the pristine-tar branch
contains only a .delta and a .id file?

Any help would be appreciated.

Best
Fabian

Thanks! This is comparable to what you noticed yesterday with the C++

You can use lazbuild to build Castle Game Engine (just run "lazbuild"
on packages/castle_base.lpk , packages/castle_window.lpk,
packages/castle_components.lpk). However, this requires having
lazbuild installed, which is part of Lazarus. It is not available if
you only have "bare" FPC installed.

That is the only reason why I'm maintaining also an option to build
using fpmake :)

Michalis
