On my amd64 virtual machine rc-status failes every time I run it.
Some times it just reports

  double free or corruption (!prev)

And sometimes it reports

malloc(): smallbin double linked list corrupted

I think this is 100% reproducible by just simply $ rc-status

Dear Maintainer,

The next release of libfreetype6-dev will *not* ship
`freetype-config', as the script has now been deprecated in favour of
`pkg-config'.

This is an upstream change:

"Use of the `freetype-config' script to get compilation and

linking options is deprecated since it doesn't support

cross-compiling, among other deficiencies. Instead, you should

use the `pkg-config' interface." [1]

Please use `pkg-config' to detect the FreeType 2 headers and
libraries in libg15render.

If this bug is not resolved prior to the release of FreeType 2.9.1,
your package may FTBFS.

Thank you

Hello,

Bug #911714 in serf reported by you has been fixed in the
Git repository and is awaiting an upload. You can see the commit
message below, and you can check the diff of the fix at:

https://salsa.debian.org/jamessan/serf/commit/de771b25106e14d961931cc84a91d533f1b550a0

Backport create_certs.py from upstream to generate certs at test time

The certs used for testing expire 1 year after they're generated, which
causes a timebomb for stable releases.

Package: libgdbm6

Severity: grave
X-Debbugs-Cc: p...@packages.debian.org, libmarc-charset-p...@packages.debian.org

The libgdbm6 transition broke autopkgtest checks of src:perl and
libmarc-charset-perl.

It looks like some GDBM databases which were working with the older
gdbm are not readable any more with the new one.

 # file /usr/lib/libmarc-charset-perl/Table
/usr/lib/libmarc-charset-perl/Table: GNU dbm 1.x or ndbm database, little
endian, old
 # gdbm_dump /usr/lib/libmarc-charset-perl/Table
gdbm_dump: gdbm_open failed: Malformed database file header

Similarly for the test data that gets used in src:perl autopkgtest checks:

 # gdbm_dump debian/tests/data/jessie.gdbm
gdbm_dump: gdbm_open failed: Malformed database file header

For reference, the output with libgdbm5 1.14.1-6+b1 is

 % gdbm_dump debian/tests/data/jessie.gdbm

Bug#892333: Patch

2018-10-26 Thread Hilko Bengen
Control: tag -1 patch

Hi,

greetings from the BSP in Karlsruhe.

Here's a patch that uses the proper Autoconf mechanism for calling
pkg-config. I have successfully tested building in a clean sid chroot.

Cheers,

Dear Maintainer,

The next release of libfreetype6-dev will *not* ship
`freetype-config', as the script has now been deprecated in favour of
`pkg-config'.

This is an upstream change:

"Use of the `freetype-config' script to get compilation and

linking options is deprecated since it doesn't support

cross-compiling, among other deficiencies. Instead, you should

use the `pkg-config' interface." [1]

Please use `pkg-config' to detect the FreeType 2 headers and
libraries in libwmf.

If this bug is not resolved prior to the release of FreeType 2.9.1,
your package may FTBFS.

Thank you

The root cause is that on armel/armhf (and arm64 in Ubuntu)
Qt5 is compiled with OpenGL ES instead of OpenGL.

Ideally structure-synth should be fixed to build and work with OpenGL ES,
but if this is not easily possible please
- change the build dependency from libqt5opengl5-dev
to libqt5opengl5-desktop-dev (which will stop trying
to build structure-synth on armel/aarmhf), and
- file a removal bug for the old armel+armhf binaries
  of structure-synth against ftp.debian.org

Depend on ceph-common for pythonX-cephfs

The ceph_volume_client Python module included in pythonX-cephfs import
ceph_argparse and ceph_daemon from ceph-common. As this is not a module
built using setuptools dh_python does not automatically add this

Control: tag -1 patch

Dear maintainer,

greetings from the BSP currently taking place in Karlsruhe.

Here's a patch that fixes the configure script to make use of pkg-config
to detect freetype2. Because I could not be bothered to find out how to
use dh-autoreconf with old Debhelper-based debian/rules, I took the
liberty to clean up debian/rules and bump the DH compat level...

I have uploaded the resulting package to DELAYED/15; feel free to
reschedule or cancel my upload as you see fit.

Cheers,

Bug#893864: xiphos webkitgtk dependency fixed

2018-10-26 Thread Jeremy Bicha
> A new version of Xiphos was uploaded to Debian just now.
> It no longer depends on libwebkitgtk.

Sorry, it's a hard dependency and now xiphos fails to build in a clean
build environment.

https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=xiphos

By the way, please CC me on bug email like this if you want me to see
it. The BTS doesn't CC the bug reporter or commenters by default and I
think it's a hassle subscribing to all the bugs I file.

Thanks,
Jeremy Bicha

dateutils FTBFS on 32bit: test failures
'reopen' may be inappropriate when a bug has been closed with a version;
all fixed versions will be cleared, and you may need to re-add them.
Bug reopened
No longer marked as fixed in versions dateutils/0.4.5-1.

rc-status.c:

In the end we see here upstream pull request [1]
that got applied in commit [2].

A local built package that initilizes the variable upstream
does not crash and shows no problem again with valgrind.

That commit would be already included in upstream release 0.39.

Kind regards,
Bernhard

Bug#873327: aegisub FTBFS with luajit 2.1

2018-10-26 Thread Pascal Mons
I believe I have successfully build from the latest Debian source
aegisub_3.2.2+dfsg.orig the application Aegisub.

This build follows the Debian guidelines and use the latest available system
libraries e.g. luajit_2.1.0~beta3+dfsg-5.1

To achieve the result I did use the patch mentioned here by Paul and coming
from openSUSE taking care of luajit 2.1.

https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/multimedia:apps/aegisub/luabins.patch?expand=1

I did as well add a add-unicode-international-include-unistr.h.patch

I am using this list of patches in order to build properly (from
debian/patches/series):

fix-pthread.patch
only-add-timestamp-in-build-credit.patch
change-aegisub-command.patch
openal-workaround.patch
change-default-dictionary-search-path.patch
#link-against-system-luajit.patch
escape-sequence-lua-5.2.patch
link-against-system-luajit-and-remove-vendor-luajit-dependency.patch
add-libatomic-dependency.patch
add-unicode-international-include-unistr.h.patch
add-luabins-support-for-lua5.2-luajit-2.1.patch

The aegisub Debian packages are build and available for the last 4 maintained
Ubuntu releases in my Launchpad PPA Photo Video Applications.

https://launchpad.net/~anton+/+archive/ubuntu/photo-video-apps

Unfortunately the upstream source currently hosted at
GitHub and previously mentioned here, is
poorly maintained to say the least since 2014 / 2015, as it looks like there
isn't any active developer to speak of, taking care of it.

I did just verify in the GitHub git how they did manage to solve the luajit 2.1
FTBFS as Paul commented earlier:

'The upstream IRC channel mentioned that this bug is fixed in git master

...

I wasn't able to find the patch in upstream, likely fixed another way.'

For sure, they just ditched the system luajit 2.1 libraries and forced use of
the older luajit bundled in their vendor sources. Here is the commit describing
the action in their 'master' git:

commit bc157d9bbc00860fb7019b9c869317809a350ef7
Author: Thomas Goyne
Date: Sat Mar 3 12:44:31 2018 -0800

Also stub out the `system` lua module that newer versions of busted use

I believe their master git maintained at GitHub is utterly not properly
maintained at all and unreliable period.

If properly patched, the Debian source aegisub_3.2.2+dfsg can still be build
properly.

I believe as well that aegisub should be back soon in debian testing.

Bug#897865: Code compiles just fine with current commit in Salsa

2018-10-26 Thread Hilko Bengen
Hi,

greetings from BSP in Karlsruhe.

The current commit in Salsa -- 00b7e79dd144ebfc5d187c331353b50239b032db,
marked "snapd (2.35.5-1) UNRELEASED" -- builds the test code including
locking-test.c just fine, but various tests then fail.

Cheers,

Shall we remove it from the archive?

I can confirm that upstream version 0.13 does work with Thunderbird 60,
see also https://github.com/swick/mozilla-gnome-keyring/pull/56.

Please consider updating the package instead of removing it.

Package: seahorse
Version: 3.20.0-3.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

I today noticed that seahorse crashes reliably about a second after it has been
started.

I get the following output in the console:

   (seahorse:16130): Gtk-WARNING **:
(/build/gtk+3.0-NmdvYo/gtk+3.0-3.22.11/./gtk/gtkicontheme.c:5493):gtk_icon_theme_lookup_by_gicon_for_scale:

   Segmentation fault

I know that seahorse has worked fine some time ago, but I am not sure when I
last used it (could be few months).

Directly before trying to launch it I used python3-keyring. I cannot think of
anything else that could be related.

A new version of Xiphos was uploaded to Debian just now.
It no longer depends on libwebkitgtk.
If that works out well, then Xiphos can migrate to testing normally.

Dear maintainers,

With a recent upload of qtbase-opensource-src the autopkgtest of
kdeconnect started to fail in testing. I copied the output below.

I suspect that this regression is due to the fact that
qtbase-opensource-src was build with the 1.1.1* version of openssl which
incorporates changes regarding the default minimum level of security,
hence the CC. I suggest to discuss with the openssl maintainers how to
best fix this situation. I added a block relation on a tracking bug for
this as well.

Currently this regression is contributing to the delay of the migration
of qtbase-opensource-src to testing [1] and I assigned this bug to both
source packages (qtbase-opensource-src, kdeconnect). Could you please
investigate the situation and reassign the bug to the right package? If
needed, please change the bug's severity as appropriate. I suspect that
in the current state, you want to block migration of
qtbase-opensource-src to testing.

Hi,

when symbols in the library change, you need to actually bump the
SOVERSION/SONAME of the package. It's not enough and it's wrong
to just change the package name for several reasons:

1. The old and new package must declare Conflicts/Replaces among themselves
2. It's impossible to do proper transition (due to 1)
3. It will break non-packaged software

So, instead of having libtidy5.6 package that contains libtidy.so.5,
you will need to bump the SOVERSION to 6 (it would be best to
coordinate with upstream) and the package would be named libtidy6.
(The naming convention is lib).

I could help with that if you want, but the current approach is wrong,
it will break things and it needs to be fixed before transition is
started.

Thanks,
Ondrej

I made this mistake a bunchPerhaps the autodep8 template
be changed to include python3-all? or using py3versions
-d instead of -r?

Bug#867682: squid-deb-proxy-client: breaks apt operation if removed and system upgraded to stretch

Andreas Beckmann wrote...

After taking a look into that: Appearently Acquire::http::ProxyAutoDetect
accepts a plain executable only, so it's not possible to do something
like

Acquire::http::ProxyAutoDetect "/bin/sh -c '[ -x
/usr/share/squid-deb-proxy-client/apt-avahi-discover ] && [ -x
/usr/share/squid-deb-proxy-client/apt-avahi-discover'";

So the only solution I can think of was to either move
apt-avahi-discover to /etc/ (not quite good style), or to create a small
wrapper script in /etc/ that just does the check as above - not the best
thing as well, but should do the trick.

Did I miss something?

Christoph

Bug#911924: msgpack decode error

2018-10-26 Thread Alexandre Viau
The old package used to embed the msgpack decoder/encoder and this new
package will use Debian's version instead.

You are going to have to re-create a new aptly database.

I am not sure that upstream can even support this, even less so in
Debian since we wouldn't allow them to embed two versions of the library
to support the migration.

The first step would be that upstream moves to the new version of
go/codec and/or go-msgpack.

There would need to be backwards compatibility shipped in those
libraries which would allow upstream to support an upgrade path.

Aptly works fine, it just doesn't support the migration. For this
reason, I will dial down the severity to wishlist and rename the bug
accordingly. Please let me know if you disagree.

Bug#873085: bsd-finger does not trap errors from ./configure

I doubt this is sufficient. There are squences like

|echo 'no'
|echo 'Compiler '"$CC"' does not exist or cannot compile C; try
another.'
|rm -f __conftest*
+exit

that rather should exit nonzero as fixed in

https://sources.debian.org/patches/netkit-tftp/0.17-21/875885.patch/

Also I reckon all packages that use a configure "This file was generated
by confgen version 2" are affected from this issue. Do you agree this
applies to

biff
linux-ftpd
linux-ftpd-ssl
netkit-bootparamd
netkit-ftp
netkit-ftp-ssl
netkit-ntalk
netkit-rsh
netkit-rusers
netkit-rwall
netkit-rwho
netkit-telnet
netkit-telnet-ssl

as well?

Greetings from the Karlsruhe BSP, I actually wanted to *de*crease the RC
bug count ...

Depends: libjs-twitter-bootstrap | libjs-bootstrap

If the autoremoval should stop, the dependency has to be the other way
around (what matters is mostly the first entry listed).

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed the piuparts
upgrade test because dpkg detected a conffile as being modified and then
prompted the user for an action. As there is no user input, this fails.
But this is not the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt
shows up in the first place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile
at all, the package has just been installed and upgraded...

This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#behavior,
which says "[These scripts handling conffiles] must not ask unnecessary
questions (particularly during upgrades), and must otherwise be good
citizens."

https://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling should help with figuring
out how to do this properly.

In https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/08/msg00675.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

Please use `pkg-config' to detect the FreeType 2 headers and
libraries in tvtime.

If this bug is not resolved prior to the release of FreeType 2.9.1,
your package may FTBFS.

Thank you

Dear Roland,

Thanks so much for letting me know this - I hadn't spotted it.

Woo-hoo, it works for me! I wonder whether you needed to rebuild the
UI?

I've just uploaded a version based on git to unstable
(2.1.5+dfsg+2.1.6-test.20181026.b4f4e65c-1) so you can test it. Does
this version work for you? I won't close this bug report until the
next official release (2.1.6) (assuming that it works for you, of
course), as I don't want the package to migrate to testing until then;
it may not fully match the packaged upstream version (translations
etc.).

Best wishes,

   Julian

Bug#911953: librabbitmq-dev missing Depends: libssl-dev

2018-10-26 Thread Helmut Grohne
Package: librabbitmq-dev
Version: 0.9.0-0.1
Severity: serious
Tags: ftbfs
Control: affects -1 + src:pmacct

pmacct fails to build from source. This is caused by a bug in
librabbitmq-dev. After installing librabbitmq-dev, the .pc file is
dysfunctional:

$ pkg-config librabbitmq --cflags
Package openssl was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `openssl.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'openssl', required by 'librabbitmq', not found
$

The .pc file has

| Requires.private: openssl

but the package misses a dependency on libssl-dev. Either remove openssl
from requires or add libssl-dev to Depends.

scrollkeeper has been deprecated and unmaintained for years. Its
replacement, rarian has been deprecated for years too. More
importantly, it doesn't seem to be needed at all. yelp can easily
display Docbook help files without any .omf files.

We do not intend to ship rarian in Debian 10 "Buster". Therefore,
please drop the rarian dependency.

Bug#911951: partd autopkg tests need to depend on python3-all

2018-10-26 Thread Matthias Klose
Package: src:partd
Version: 0.3.8-1
Severity: serious
Tags: sid buster

the partd autopkg tests need to depend on python3-all, same as in the build
dependencies. This will block at least python3-defaults once failing autopkg
tests are made blocking.
