Package: node-mysql
Version: 2.16.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

This package does not declare required dependencies, and hence, doesn't
work unless they are installed via other means.
In particular, when I try to use this, it complains that `sqlstring` is
unavailable, which makes the package largely unusuable.

Dependencies listed in the package.json:
https://salsa.debian.org/js-team/node-mysql/blob/master/package.json
- bignumber (included correctly)
- readable-stream (not referenced)
- safe-buffer (not referenced)
- sqlstring (not referenced)

node-mysql does list `node-require-all` as a dependency, but it isn't
listed in package.json.  I don't know if there's a particular reason for
this.

Thank you!

Hi! As you might know we the Qt/KDE team are preparing to remove Qt4
as [announced] in:

[announced]

Currently Qt4 has been dead upstream and we are starting to have problems
maintaining it, like for example in the [OpenSSL 1.1 support] case.

[OpenSSL 1.1 support]

In order to make this move, all packages directly or indirectly depending on
the Qt4 libraries have to either get ported to Qt5 or eventually get
removed from the Debian repositories.

Therefore, please take the time and:
- contact your upstream (if existing) and ask about the state of a Qt5
port of your application
- if there are no activities regarding porting, investigate whether there are
suitable alternatives for your users
- if there is a Qt5 port that is not yet packaged, consider packaging it
- if both the Qt4 and the Qt5 versions already coexist in the Debian
archives, consider removing the Qt4 version

= Porting =

Some of us where involved in various Qt4 to Qt5 migrations [migration] and we
know for sure that porting stuff from Qt4 to Qt5 is much much easier and less
painful than it was from Qt3 to Qt4.

We also understand that there is still a lot of software still using Qt4.

Don't forget to take a look at the C++ API changes page [apichanges] whenever
you start porting your application.

Package: src:shiboken

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-9/g++-9, but succeeds to build with gcc-8/g++-8. The
severity of this report will be raised before the bullseye release,
so nothing has to be done for the buster release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc9-20190321/shiboken_1.2.2-5.1_unstable_gcc9.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 9, either set CC=gcc-9 CXX=g++-9 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-9/porting_to.html

GCC 9 also passes the linker option --as-needed by default; typical
build issues are passing libraries before object files to the linker,
or underlinking of convenience libraries built from the same source.

Hello, please port python-acme to Python3 and/or drop the python 2
package. This will help the goal of removing Python 2 from Debian,
and would also (more immediately) allow to remove packages currently
dependencies of this one.

More info at: https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal

Bug#941567: node-mysql: Dependencies not given; node-sqlstring required

2019-10-01 Thread ZiNgA BuRgA
Package: node-mysql
Version: 2.16.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

This package does not declare required dependencies, and hence, doesn't
work unless they are installed via other means.
In particular, when I try to use this, it complains that `sqlstring` is
unavailable, which makes the package largely unusuable.

Dependencies listed in the package.json:
https://salsa.debian.org/js-team/node-mysql/blob/master/package.json
- bignumber (included correctly)
- readable-stream (not referenced)
- safe-buffer (not referenced)
- sqlstring (not referenced)

node-mysql does list `node-require-all` as a dependency, but it isn't
listed in package.json.  I don't know if there's a particular reason for
this.

Thank you!

Bug#941559: libxvidcore4: immediately crashes on amd64 since binNMU

2019-10-01 Thread James Cowgill
Package: libxvidcore4
Version: 2:1.3.5-1
Severity: grave
Tags: sid bullseye

Hi,

Just over a month ago xvidcore was binNMUed and this seems to have
triggered a bug somewhere and now any application which tries to
initialize libxvidcore will segfault.

Test app:
#include
#include

int main(void)
{
xvid_gbl_init_t init = {
.version = XVID_VERSION,
.cpu_flags = 0,
.debug = 0,
};
xvid_global(NULL, XVID_GBL_INIT, , NULL);
return 0;
}

$ gcc -o xvid-test xvid-test.c -lxvidcore
$ ./xvid-test
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

The crash happens here:
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x77f22940 in check_cpu_features () from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxvidcore.so.4
(gdb) bt

#3  xvid_global (handle=, opt=,

Which in turn seems to happen because the check_cpu_features function is
in a non-executable read only memory region.

Bug#941558: check-manifest: autopkgtest failure with transitional bzr package.

Package: check-manifest
Version: 0.37-1
Tags: bullseye, sid
Severity: serious

bzr recently became a transitional package to breezy (a fork of bzr),
unfortunately this is causing the autopkgtest of check-manifest to fail.

Can you fix your package and/or it's autopkgtest so that the transitional bzr
package can migrate to testing?

Bug#935042: Privacy on Debian

2019-10-01 Thread Marcos Fouces
Hello Michael,

I am aware of the configuration option you mention but i decided to
create a patch changing the CheckUpdates() function because i don't know
if it is used in another part of the software.

I also can understand your desire to know where and when an Lynis audit
is performed but it shouldn't be done without user knowledge. It is up
to the user to decide to check if an update is available or to decide if
he wants to get informed about it.

If users give consent to check for updates each time an audit is
performed -which it must be done phoning home, for obvious reasons- then
it is ok for you to use this info. Anyway, i believe that this  function
should be disabled in Debian. It does not make much sense for distros as
they has their own updating system.

Except for this matter, i believe that Lynis is a good piece of software.

Greetings,

Marcos

Justification: FTBFS

Dear Maintainer,

As you're probably well aware of the samba package fails to build from
source on a few architectures in unstable (and I didn't see an open bug
report about it so I'm filing this for tracking/discussion purposes).

The problem has now become more problematic as the transitions related
to gnome 3.34 was started yesterday. The gnome-control-center package
build-depends on samba and is now thus blocked in "BD-Uninstallable".

As release-team resources are scarse and there are many other
transitions waiting we'll need to figure out a way to unblock things.
Ideas?

(I see the new upstream version in experimental also has build
issues...)

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson

First of all, thank you very much for taking care of reporting these issues.

Please let me know if you think this is a DSA-worthy issue. Otherwise I
will just ask the release team for an update. Personally I believe we
can treat that as an important issue from now on.

Cheers,

Markus

Hi,

Tony, Markus, As it was already expected ;-). Upstream, whilst it
affects as well 2.10.0, seemigly is not considering doing an update
for 2.10 specifically but have fixed this one as well for older
versions. Previous point, that this is just going to start to be silly
upholds.

That said, let's follow with the usual information:

The following vulnerabilities were published for jackson-databind.

CVE-2019-16942[0]:
| A Polymorphic Typing issue was discovered in FasterXML jackson-
| databind 2.0.0 through 2.9.10. When Default Typing is enabled (either
| globally or for a specific property) for an externally exposed JSON
| endpoint and the service has the commons-dbcp (1.4) jar in the
| classpath, and an attacker can find an RMI service endpoint to access,
| it is possible to make the service execute a malicious payload. This
| issue exists because of
| org.apache.commons.dbcp.datasources.SharedPoolDataSource and
| org.apache.commons.dbcp.datasources.PerUserPoolDataSource mishandling.

Bug#935211: python-acme: Please port to Python 3 and/or drop Python 2 package

2019-10-01 Thread Sunil Mohan Adapa
Hello,

The python-acme package and consequently, all of certbot and FreedomBox,
are set to be autoremoved from Debian testing in just a few days from
now on Sunday, the 6th of October, 2019. Since the fix seems to be
straight forward, can some please look into this and upload the package
without Python2 and python3-ndg-httpsclient?

Gianfranco Costamagna, the patch you have attached seems to be incorrect
and meant for another unrelated package.

Thank you,

The bug is filed against 3.0.8-6. Which is still in stable.
So: Yes, correct!

This is good, but not the optimal solution.

Reopening and setting the "buster"-tag, as it only affects
buster now.
This is to track the issue more correctly.

I consider Michael Gilbert as the one who is responsible to reply to
this issue because he is the initial uploader of doomsday. I have only
fixed release critical bugs before to keep the package in Debian.
Doomsday is an active project but I don't intend to maintain it alone. I
suggest to keep it in unstable to give others the chance to work on the
existing bugs even if Qt4 should have been removed from Debian. If there
is no activity before we intend to release Debian 11, then I have
absolute no objections to remove this package from Debian.

Best,

Markus

No, no private interest. I'm just still hoping. Therefore I suggest to
contact LDF for the last time, tell him the situation and then file the
RoM request. Either we get fixes (and then go through the New queue) or
we don't. I guess rather the latter will happen.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc9-20190321/tstools_1.11-1_unstable_gcc9.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 9, either set CC=gcc-9 CXX=g++-9 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

 I remained calm in the first place when you did an NMU for a bug
which is _not_ RC without pinging the maintainer first and give some
hours to respond. But let me ask, is it a practice of yours to follow
to do a random NMU without any communication first? Especially that
you don't follow your own packages in the first place.

Bug#941488: dbus-test-runner: autopkgtest fails with libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.62)

With the recent upload of GLib 2.62 to unstable, dbus-test-runner's
autopkgtest has started failing, because it uses deprecated macros in
conjuction with -Werror.

GLib recently gained a way to annotate macros as deprecated, so this
now raises warnings where it did not previously. However, the macros in
question have been deprecated since GLib 2.2, released in 2002.

A simple solution would be to not use -Werror here. A better solution
would be to use the suggested replacements (or of course you could
do both).

Bug#941487: gconf: autopkgtest fails with libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.62)

With the recent upload of GLib 2.62 to unstable, gconf's autopkgtest has
started failing:

GTime is a gint32 (not a time_t, although it happens to be equivalent on
older 32-bit architectures) counting seconds since the beginning of 1970.
As such it is not Y2038-safe.

The deprecation warnings can be disabled for code that depends on
gconf by wrapping a block with the G_GNUC_BEGIN_IGNORE_DEPRECATIONS
and G_GNUC_END_IGNORE_DEPRECATIONS macros, as was done in Ubuntu patch
3.2.6-5ubuntu3: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/gconf/merge_requests/1

Bug#941463: 3dldf: build-depend on texlive-plain-generic, not obsolete texlive-generic-recommended

Do you (Hilmar) have any strong interest in keeping this package?
We can wait for upstream's comments, but a dead upstream development
paired wit RC bugs strongly suggests removal. There are no rdepends,
so it shouldn't be a real problem.

Best

Norbert

Me too. It seems no more maintained upstream while C++ is constantly evolving.
