Bug#276993: Is this bug likely to be closed (for woody, or at all)?

I have only a Debian/sarge system at present, without the resources to create an unstable system, at least for a little while. Hi Matt, I've been trying to look into the viability of running User Mode Linux on a Debian/sarge system, but it doesn't seem to be possible to do so in the Debian native way with these serious bugs open and preventing the UML kernel patch from making its way even into testing. I don't think I'm actually capable of helping with these bugs: my skills with the kernel pretty much end with 'make-kpkg ...', but if there is some room for ordinary folks to help out, please let me know. Still, my question is: is UML going to be viable in Debian, or are there technical issues that really make it too hard? I'm also curious about trying Xen but Adam Heath has filed bugs against it keeping it out of testing as well ...
