Bug#368477: gcc-4.0 should depend on libc6-dev

2006-05-22 Thread David Pashley
Package: gcc-4.0
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

gcc-4.0 should depend, not recommend libc6-dev, otherwise it can not
find crt1.o and can not generate binaries.

Bug#386831: tomcat-common

2006-09-16 Thread David Pashley
Alternatively, you could create a tomcat-common package, which included
files shared between the two versions. It would be this package that
owned the tomcat user.

Is that the only script you load? It's possible that it could be a bug
in perl. I'll keep the bug open, but downgrade it and do a little bit
more digging into the problem first.

I plan to upload a new version of irssi to the archive, conflicting with
both irssi-text and irssi-snapshot. I hope this will happen soon.

Can you disable loading all perl scripts on start up? Does it still
crash? Can you load one script at a time and let me know if it is all
scripts that cause it to crash or if it is just one or a set of scripts.

The problem is that perl includes a common.h which gets included in
preference to the local common.h due to a change in the header search
order. I believe this is due to GCC 4.0, possibly caching header
locations.

The fix is to move the #include "common.h" earlier in module.h
header.

Bug#434728: configuration should be in /etc/tomcat5.5

2007-07-26 Thread David Pashley
Package: tomcat5.5
Version: 5.5.20-5
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: Policy 10.7.2

All the config files should be in /etc/tomcat5.5. The current scheme
where some files are in /etc/tomcat5.5 and some are in
/var/lib/tomcat5.5/conf with symlinks to the ones in /etc/tomcat5.5 is
just confusing. I've included a patch which should move the conf
directory to /etc/tomcat5.5 and hopefully migrate users files. It has
been tested, but not heavily.

Seems a better plan than updating and spending ages trying to work out
why your tomcat no longer works. It might be worth checking that the
file doesn't already exist in /etc/tomcat5.5 before moving the file and
throw up a debconf warning saying we couldn't migrate everything.
