Bug#810747: iceweasel: crashes while playing opus files

2016-01-11 Thread Dr. Markus Waldeck
Package: iceweasel
Version: 43.0.4-1
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

playing opus files crashes iceweasel after few minutes.
Since the ability to play opus files was introduced several years ago I never
had a problem.
When I noticed the problem the first time in version 41 I returned to ESR
(version 38).
But now iceweasel version 43 is in testing.

I get with iceweasel-dbg :
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1".

Bug#655685: sysctl -p / --load does not work in this version!

2012-01-12 Thread Dr. Markus Waldeck
Package: procps
Version: 1:3.3.2-1
Severity: grave

Hi,

the new sysctl renders my system unusable due to missing sysctl settings!

I seems that the options "-p" and "--load" are totally ignored
which are used in /etc/init.d/procps.

# /sbin/sysctl --version
sysctl from procps-ng 3.3.2

# strace -f /sbin/sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.d/s.conf |& grep conf
execve("/sbin/sysctl", ["/sbin/sysctl", "-p", "/etc/sysctl.d/s.conf"], [/* 30
vars */]) = 0
open("/etc/sysctl.conf", O_RDONLY)  = 3 <== instead of /etc/sysctl.d/s.conf
read(3, "#\n# /etc/sysctl.conf - Configura"..., 4096) = 2082

I see following output with the previous version:
# /sbin/sysctl --version
sysctl (procps-ng version 3.3.1)

# strace -f /sbin/sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.d/s.conf |& grep s.conf
execve("/sbin/sysctl", ["/sbin/sysctl", "-p", "/etc/sysctl.d/s.conf"], [/* 29
vars */]) = 0
open("/etc/sysctl.d/s.conf", O_RDONLY) = 3

Thanks!

Bug#534735: Confirmation of 'listen-address localhost:8118' failure

2009-07-09 Thread Dr. Markus Waldeck
Hi Celejar,

thank you for your confirmation!

My work around is to use

listen-address 0.0.0.0:8118

instead of

listen-address localhost:8118

This works every time!

Thanks

Bug#534735: The configuration "listen-address :8118" is not possible with 3.0.13-1

2009-06-27 Thread Dr. Markus Waldeck
Hallo Roland!

> Strange. I use the same configuration on my home system, but never
> got this error message. Neither with 3.0.12 nor with 3.0.13.

I downgraded to 3.0.12. This version works fine.

After a subsequent upgrade to 3.0.13 I could reproduce the same error:

/var/log/privoxy/logfile:
Fatal error: can't bind to INADDR_ANY:8118: The hostname is not resolvable

> Maybe its a sid issue (I personally usually use lenny).

I use unstable but it is only a problem with 3.0.13 as mentioned above.

> do you use some special architecture (I only use i386 and amd64)?

i386

> Where does this "INADDR_ANY" come from? Did you enter it to the
> config file or is it only the output in the log?

It is only in the log file.

> The correct configuration to listen on all interfaces is
> listen-address :8118

As I wrote in the subject :-)

> Could you please give me more information, how to reproduce this
> problem?

I did further testings and noticed following facts:

1. "listen-address 127.0.0.1:8118" works EVERY time
2. "listen-address :8118" FIRST startup attempt after boot: fails
3. "listen-address :8118" second and further startups work fine
4. "listen-address localhost:8118" FIRST startup attempt after boot: fails
5. "listen-address localhost:8118" second and further startups work fine

Output of test case 2 in /var/log/privoxy/logfile:
Fatal error: can't bind to INADDR_ANY:8118: The hostname is not resolvable

Output of test case 4 in /var/log/privoxy/logfile:
Fatal error: can't bind to localhost:8118: The hostname is not resolvable

It seems that there is a problem in the name resolution
("The hostname is not resolvable").

Gruß

Markus

Bug#534735: The configuration "listen-address :8118" is not possible with 3.0.13-1

2009-06-26 Thread Dr. Markus Waldeck

Package: privoxy
Version: 3.0.13-1
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

I noticed that it was not possible to reach the internet after the upgrade.

I found following entry in /var/log/privoxy/logfile

Fatal error: can't bind to INADDR_ANY:8118: The hostname is not resolvable

The problem is caused by the configuration "listen-address :8118".
There was no problem with 3.0.12-2 and before.

The INADDR_ANY configuration is required to use privoxy from the local system
AND a virtual machine which connects to privoxy via an 192.168.x.y address.
The access to port 8118 is protected by netfilter.

With the version 3.7-2 it is not possible to use any layout file.

Bug#514317: /var/run/dnsmasq is NOT compatible with RAMRUN=yes in /etc/default/rcS

2009-02-06 Thread Dr. Markus Waldeck

Package: dnsmasq
Version: 2.47-1
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

man rcS:
RAMRUN Make /var/run/ available as a ram file system (tmpfs).
Will also disable cleaning of /var/run/ during boot.
Set to ’yes’ to enable, to ’no’ to disable. The size of the tmpfs
can be controlled using TMPFS_SIZE and RUN_SIZE in /etc/defaults/tmpfs.

I use this setting on my laptop and noticed that dnsmasq is not longer working!

To create /var/run/dnsmasq during postinst is not sufficent.

I copied the following lines into /etc/init.d/dnsmasq:

if [ ! -d /var/run/dnsmasq ]; then
  mkdir /var/run/dnsmasq
  chown dnsmasq /var/run/dnsmasq
  chgrp nogroup /var/run/dnsmasq
fi

Everything works fine.
