Bug#367483: recompile libfox, .la file out of date due to libxcursor

2006-05-16 Thread Geiger Guenter

Package: libfox1.4-dev
Version: 1.4.31-2
Severity: serious

Hi,

The X maintainers decided to drop the libXcursor.la file in the
libXcursor package. When using libtool linking with libFOX-1.4.la
is not possible anymore, as the file refers to the non-existing
libXcursor.la file.

Recompiling fox against unstable fixes the problem.

Greetings,

G?nter

PS: I need this in order to compile rezound

Bug#367045: rezound: FTBFS on i386/sid; build-depends on nonexistent xlibmesa-glu-dev

On Sat, May 13, 2006 at 03:19:57AM +, Brian M. Carlson wrote:
 Package: rezound

Justification: no longer builds from source

rezound build-depends on xlibmesa-glu-dev, which is no longer in sid. This
 bug
is preventing fixing 358289 (FTBFS with G++ 4.1), since I cannot effectively
build this package (I have no idea if anything that breaks is due to g++-4.1
 or
due to whatever package replaces xlibmesa-glu-dev).

Therefore, as soon as I get the bug number for this bug, I will block 358289
with this one. Please fix this as soon as possible. I want to send you a
 patch
for 358289; don't make me work on someone else's package instead! ;-)

If it would be that easy, ... just filed a bug report against libfox1.4-dev in
order to make rezound compilable at all.

Bug#358346: sooperlooper: FTBFS: liblo = 0.10 not found

2006-03-22 Thread Geiger Guenter

This is a problem in liblo .
I don't know what to do about it. I think it wouldbe a bad idea
to implement a workaround in sooperlooper so I am reassigning this
to liblo.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for all the work you are putting into the package. I know its in
a terrible state, Actually what should be done is to repackage it instead
of trying to fix the old packaging. Anyhow, I am thankful for every kind of
help with it. Should I apply your patches and reupload or are you going
to do an NMU ?

Thanks,

Guenter

Has FOX been recompiled on amd64 ?
Definitely not reopend, this has never been a bug with rezound, but
it has always been a FOX problem, I just didn't detect it early enough.

 Subject: Explanation

 Michael Banck:

The package builds fine like that, it's just the additional kernel
modules which need to be built by a different script, AIUI

 Steve Langasek:

well, here's the thing. the source package does build if you run
the normal debian/rules commands; but those binary packages that are
built do *not* include the kernel-specific modules packages. So you
have to go through an additional step to build the per-kernel module
packages, which are not listed in debian/control but are present in
   the archive.

 me:

   We cannot support this security-wise.

Apart from that the package apparently fails to build from source
   (FTBFS) if

 make -f debian/rules build
 sudo make -f debian/rules binary

doesn't produce all required binary packages that should end up in
   the archive.

   This is surely release-critical.
