Bug#751610: google-chrome-stable: Chrome 35 kills xfce session on startup

2014-06-14 Thread Jerry Quinn
Package: google-chrome-stable
Version: 35.0.1916.153-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Dear Maintainer,

I just updated to chrome 35 from chrome 34. After this update, starting
chrome kills my xfce session, taking down all running apps.

This isn't quite the result I expected.

google-chrome-beta 36 crashes the session too. chromium 35 also crashes the
session.

Bug#751614: chromium kills xfce session

2014-06-14 Thread Jerry Quinn
Package: chromium
Version: 35.0.1916.153-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Dear Maintainer,

Starting chromium kills my X session, clobbering anything that is open. Hence
the grave severity. I see the same thing with google-chrome builds.

Reported to upstream as 384747.

Bug#462570: dhcp3-client: dhclient3 still writes broken resolv.conf

2008-03-03 Thread Jerry Quinn
Package: dhcp3-client
Version: 3.1.0-3
Followup-For: Bug #462570

I'm tacking on my info to this bug as my problem seems to be highly
related. I'll create a new bug if you prefer.

In my dhclient.conf I have the default config and two additional lines:

send host-name naga;
append domain-name  ibm.com;

dhclient3 is writing the following resolv.conf file:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
domain
search ibm.com
nameserver 192.168.1.1

This leads to hostname lookups not working:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ host gcc.gnu.org
host: parse of /etc/resolv.conf failed

My suspicion is the previous fix isn't quite right yet.

Bug#444441: pidgin: Exits immediately on startup

2007-09-28 Thread Jerry Quinn
Package: pidgin
Version: 2.2.0-1

I just upgraded from pidgin 2.0 and now pidgin exits silently as soon as you

There are no messages in .xsession, and nothing printed to the console. I
don't know
enough to see why it's unhappy from strace output.

I tried purging and reinstalling the package and it still fails to run.

Bug#421689: banshee hangs during start

2007-05-02 Thread Jerry Quinn (ibm)

Sebastian Dröge wrote:

can you please test if banshee 0.12.1 from unstable solves this for you?

At the moment testing 0.12.1 requires upgrading glibc and I wanted to
hold off from that for now...

Thanks

Bug#421689: banshee hangs during start

2007-04-30 Thread Jerry Quinn
Package: banshee
Version: 0.11.2+dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Banshee fails to start up. Upon start, I get the splash screen and the
progress bar gets about half-way, then nothing more ever happens. Running
from a console, I see the following output, that looks innocuous:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ banshee

(/usr/lib/banshee/banshee.exe:18681): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: GdkPixbufLoader
finalized without calling gdk_pixbuf_loader_close() - this is not allowed. You
must explicitly end the data stream to the loader before dropping the last
reference.Warning: [04/30/2007 21:10:15] (Cannot connect to NetworkManager) -
An available, working network connection will be assumed
