Turns out I'm not so hot on C precedence bugs in the evening. It
didn't take long this morning to find the real cause of this
problem. I made a patch for upstream and filed a bug (see forwarded
address).

Looking at the other rotting patches in the PackageKit bug tracker, I
wouldn't wait for it to be included upstream; you should include this
patch in the Debian package. Let me know if you need a sponsor.

Cheers,

Sorry for the delay in responding, I've been away from my emails for a
few days, but I'm back now.

Anyway, thanks for this and the patch. I just wanted to note that I'd
not ignored this and I'll try and get something out today.

Bug#554178: hostip API has changed

2009-11-03 Thread Jonny Lamb
Package: geoclue-hostip
Version: 0.11.1-5+b1
Severity: serious
Justification: renders package unusable

The hostip XML API has changed. freedesktop bug #24058[0] has been
opened with a patch to fix this. At the time of writing, upstream
appear very quiet in responding and pushing this fix, which is a
shame. It'd be nice to get this into Debian though.

I've attached the patch here for your convenience.

Fix HostIP provider to work with latest web API

The web API from api.hostip.info has removed the 'hostip' namespace. All of
the XPath queries required updating to remove the hostip namespace, otherwise
they don't match anything.

I can't reproduce this at all on any of my machines, but it appears
you can (looking at your newest build logs). I'm not sure how to
proceed with it.

I guess if I could get a backtrace it might be useful, but other than
asking you for it I'm not sure how to get one...

I just uploaded 0.0.1+20090307.git.99b20ff-2 which probably fixes this

just returning NULL.

Yes, I did think about that, but I do kind-of agree with recent discussions

Hm, looking at the strace output, I'm a little confused. Would you be
able to get a backtrace too? Unfortunately, you would have to rebuild
gitg to get debugging symbols. However, I'm not so sure how much help a

Hi Patrick,

I commented out the line:

Option "Textured2D" "True"

in the "Device" section of my xorg.conf, rebooted and it works!!! Xorg
does not crash! So it looks like my Mobility X1400 is much happier with
those settings and the 1:9-1-1 driver. I tested out Compiz Fusion (which
is really the only graphics intensive thing I use on my laptop) and it
works as well as fglrx + AIGLX ever has. :P

I appreciate your assistance on this one and am glad that my card is
again working with fglrx, albeit without "Textured 2D". :) Things look
the same to me though, does "Textured 2D" only come into play with games
or something?

Anyway thanks again.

Jonny

Hi,

Yeah, after I sent my last reply I upgraded my kernel just to see if that
would make a difference, it hasn't. I upgraded the kernel and ran
module-assistant, which built the fglrx module OK but then got the same
behavior as before, back to the vesa driver as before.

I was actually just saying the other day that it's about time fglrx busted
my system, it's been far too well behaved lately. ;)

Bug#499825: An init script is syntax error

2008-09-23 Thread Jonny
Hi,

Why does it see /etc/apt/sources.list? Since I moved to
/etc/apt/sources.list.d, the file does not exist.

 # /etc/init.d/acpid restart

grep: /etc/apt/sources.list: No such file or directory

How about carrying out like this?

  LOC="/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/acpi"
# for Ubuntu

Bug#496486: synce-kpm: Program does not do anything

SyncEngine indeed needs to be running. You can do this by installing the
synce-synce-engine package and then running synce-sync-engine(1).

> Connecting the PDA and starting ActiveSync on it doesn't make a difference.

The documentation is on the website: http://www.synce.org/

I agree that synce-kpm should have a dependency on synce-sync-engine and
some kind of D-Bus activation. Does installing and running it fix this
"bug"?

The reason this happens is that the theme packages are not in Debian
because they're currently licensed under a Creative Commons 2.5 license.
This is considered non-free by Debian[1]. Upstream have been asked to
re-license the themes under a CC 3.0 license, but as far as I know, they
haven't done this yet.

Once it is done, I'll try and get the theme packages into Debian
quickly.

Therefore this bug cannot be fixed until a re-licensing occurs. If
you're very keen to have these packages, then have a look at the
pkg-maemo bzr repository.

Bug#442349: Perhaps about to work

2008-06-22 Thread Jonny Lamb
Just a heads up:

I'm about to upload a new version of the package with a patch from
upstream that *might* fix this issue. I haven't been able to find any
machines to test on so I'm having to just upload.. It still works on the
major architectures though.

The patch I'm including is here:

http://git.jonnylamb.com/?p=packaging/bongoproject.git;a=blob;f=debian/patches/store-filter-boost-api-change.diff;hb=HEAD

I'll take a look at the build logs and I'll close this bug if it becomes
fixed with this patch.

Hi.

Yeah I'm aware of this. I've fixed this issue locally by building for

Hopefully I will see to this soon and finally get a new version uploaded

Bug#481752: Cannot install on a custom kernel

2008-05-18 Thread Jonny Lamb
Package: gspca-source
Version: 01.00.20-1
Severity: grave
Justification: Makes package uninstallable

Hi,

I just tried installing the gspca kernel module using module-assistant. I use
a custom kernel, downloaded straight from kernel.org, compiled and
installed myself, and because the kernel module package *depends* on a
kernel, the package installation fails for me:

dpkg -Ei /usr/src/gspca-modules-2.6.24.2_01.00.20-1_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package gspca-modules-2.6.24.2.

I had a quick look at other packages that provide -source packages (for
example rt2500), and it looks like the kernel packages should be recommended,
not
depended on. I include a patch to fix this below:

Thanks for your offer! I've actually already fixed this problem a while
ago[0] when a similar bug popped up[1]. That got fixed by the other package
but I've updated the "Closes:" entry to this bug[2].

I'm just waiting on my sponsor to review and upload of the new package[3]
with the fix.

[Just to state here, I'm renaming all /usr/bin/p* binaries to
/usr/bin/synce-p*, and their respective man pages.]

Many thanks,

Excellent. I've fixed the postinst script[0] and will upload shortly.

Thank you Thomas. I was not aware of this.

Ben, can you confirm that restarting dbus allows odccm to work?

Okay, I'm a little confused now. Can you make the contents of your
/etc/dbus-1/system.d/odccm.conf visible somewhere then please?

Also, you're definitely running the daemon as root? (Sorry to sound
silly, but it's worth a check!) Run `whomai` on the shell to make sure.

Thanks,

Hm, okay thanks. So if you try to start the daemon after the failed
installation, does it still fail? You can either try to start the
daemon with "/etc/init.d/odccm start" or "odccm" (both as root).

That shouldn't be necessary.

Thank you for your patch. However, I'm unsure as to why the .la file is
useless on Debian? The Debian Policy manual[0] says:

"Packages that use libtool to create shared libraries should include the
.la files in the -dev package"

So correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the solution to the problem is
to simply correct the dependencies of libsynce as I've done[1] and is
now pending upload?

Is the /etc/dbus-1/system.d/odccm.conf file present?

When I try to recreate this by simply installing the package, no problem
exists, but if I remove the above file, I get a similar error message.
This said file should be installed with the odccm package[0].

"font /boot/grub/unifont.pff" does not run normally. The command which

Please do not perform update-grub compulsorily by postinst. It is very
