Bug#878288: Stays in synchronising mode after start
Package: electrum Version: 2.7.9-1~bpo8+1 Severity: grave When I start Electrum, it says “Synchronizing...” and it stays like that many hours and never finishes that synchronising. If you have problems with combination of packages in a LaTeX document, please consult your local TeX User Group, the comp.text.tex user group, the author of the original .sty file, or any other help resource. In particular, bugs that are related to up-upstream, i.e., neither Debian nor TeX Live (upstream), but the original package authors, will be closed immediately. *** The Debian TeX Team is *not* a LaTeX Help Desk *** If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries (latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the error in your report. Please run your example with (pdf)latex -recorder ... (or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in your home directory. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures! If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem), you can probably minimize it further. Aptitude refuses to do it, because I must install ruby1.9.1 version = 1.9.3.194-1 . I try to be sure and install version 1.9.3.484-2 . It depends on ruby version = 1:1.9.3.1 . Only 1:1.9.3.4 is available. This is the first circular dependency. ruby1.9.1 version 1.9.3.484-2 also depends on libruby1.9.1 version = 1.9.3.484-2 . I try to install it, but it is not possible, because it depends on ruby1.9.1 version = 1.9.3.484-2 . But I already was unable to install that, as I said before. No matter how many times I go to dependency of some package I try to install, I end up to same packages again and again and because they refuse to install, because their dependencies are not yet installed, and those dependencies refuse to install and so on, so on, ad nauseam, ad infinitum. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-proposed-updates'), (102, 'testing'), (101, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.13-1-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fi_FI.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages ruby depends on: ii ruby1.9.1 1.9.3.484-1 ruby recommends no packages. Unfortunately the latest version of python-xml depends on python 2.6 and Debian already has a version of Python that breaks that rule. I think you're not getting the big picture here... python-xml has been removed from unstable/testing so it lives only in stable, where python 2.5 is the default. No-one will update it to make it work with 2.6 as default (given it's not part of python core). Do you mean that also xbel-utils will stop working in unstable Debian and later on testing and stable, too? APT policy: (1001, 'testing'), (990, 'stable'), (500, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (101, 'unstable') You have quite a broken setup here I found no reason to have teh stable suite while you use (and prefer) the under-development suites (testing and then unstable). I have released my apt-configs here: http://iki.fi/juhtolv/configs/debian/apt/ After downgrading umpteen packages I was able to install xbel-utils back. Bug#584617: Installation causes massive dependency problems for many other packages
Package: mplayer Version: 2:1.0~rc3+svn20100502-3 Severity: critical This is what happens, when I try to install that latest version of mplayer: mplayer version 2:1.0~rc3+svn20100502-3 depends on libdirectfb-1.2-9. Then that package called libdirectfb-1.2-9 conflicts with libdirectfb-1.2-0 . When I try to purge libdirectfb-1.2-0 , hell breaks loose: aptitude suggests removal of 756 packages! Main window do not show document at all; That area that is meant for showing document, is all white. Opening that window usually means there is some error from ghostscript when opening that file. I checked out other bugs of this package and then bug #460166 seemed interesting. I copied the whole E-Mail as a file to koe.txt (It was easy, because I use Maildir-formatted folders). Bug#442172: Workaround for bug #442172
Here is very simple workaround: 1) Go to directory ~/.xinput.d 2) Create some file like this: Clip here XIM=SCIM XIM_PROGRAM=/usr/bin/scim XIM_ARGS=-d GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge #QT_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge QT_IM_MODULE=scim XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM DEPENDS=scim,scim-bridge-client-gtk,scim-bridge-client-qt|scim-anthy|scim-canna|scim-chewing|scim-pinyin|scim-hangle|scim-prime|scim-skk|scim-tables-additional|scim-m17n|scim-uim|scim-tables-ja|scim-tables-ko|scim-tables-zh Clip here That DEPENDS-line may have some useless stuff, but it does not hinder very much. 4) Save that file. I saved that file under the name juhtolv 3) Give this kind of command: im-switch -s juhtolv 4) Log out from you X Window System and then log in, again. Now you should be able to use any Qt3- and Qt4-based programs without problems and you should be able to input CJK-characters. Bug#343608: Core dump at start
I think I found the reason for that core dump: http://w-ber.ormgas.com/html2utf8.pl If UTF-8 is really not in use and that script is loaded in ~/.irssi/startup , irssi dumps core during startup. Probably the bug is in that script rather than in irssi. But as long as I am really not yet in UTF-8-era, I should not load that script at all. -- Juhapekka naula Tolvanen * http colon slash slash iki dot fi slash juhtolv She turns me on.
