Hi! The error that the user is seeing is this: http://people.debian.org/~naoliv/misc/597158.png It happens when libvirt-bin is not installed, indeed, but virt-manager should fail more gracefully if no local connection is available. Since it can be used to manage remote machines, there is no need for a scary message every time virt-manager is run. Maybe the local connection shouldn't be created by default or something else. Packages that need programs from outside our archive should at least be installable, right? [1] http://bugs.debian.org/396420 [2] http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15355 It seems that we didn't saw that ImageMagick was already using the system fonts PLUS the ghostscript ones (by explicitly including them in type.xml) [it could be true that on 2006 ImageMagick didn't had support for fontconfig, but now it has and it reads the system fonts] So I was wrong in understanding that ImageMagick wasn't reading the fonts now. One thing that I don't understand however (and if somebody knows why, I would be grateful for an explanation) is why fontconfig/imagemagick doesn't see the ghostscripts fonts (and why it's necessary to explicitly include them in type.xml). Bug#556810: fluxbox: FTBFS: sh: wmf2eps: not found
Hi! I was trying to see why this problem was happening (it doesn't happen on my system, but on a chroot and on pbuilder I can see it). After thinking a lot I have remembered that we have split the SVG coder (together with the WMF, OpenEXR, DjVu and Graphviz coders) into a new package, libmagickcore2-extra. While we have "solved" a problem where ImageMagick was pulling a lot of graphical libs (bad for servers, for example), it seems that we have introduced a new problem: it's not possible to convert SVG files without installing libmagickcore2-extra. I really can't think on a good solution for this. Or you can add libmagickcore2-extra to Build-Depends (I don't like this solution) or you can use rsvg (from librsvg2-bin). rsvg was the program that ImageMagick used to delegate SVG conversions. It's as simple as calling convert: rsvg input.svg output.png Do you have a better idea on how to solve this, please? Thank you! Best regards, Nelson signature.asc Description: Digital signature

It won't be necessary to patch nor remove files. For testing/unstable we will need to replace the affected fonts, repackage the tarball (incrementing its version to 6.3.7.9.dfsg2-1), upload to unstable, wait until it gets installed, do a new upload as 6.3.7.9.dfsg2-1~lenny1 to testing-proposed-updates and request to have it unblocked again. It's simple, but it gives a little work :-) Best regards, Nelson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#508443: Help for #508443
Hi! I would like to ask for some help for the bug #508443, if possible, please. The problem is that I don't have a sparc machine (I have access to the developer accessible ones, like smetana.debian.org, but I just can't get an imagemagick package built with the debug symbols nor there is a imagemagick-dbg for testing/unstable). I can reproduce the problem on sparc (it starts to request more and more memory; strace at [1]), but I can't have more info without a stack trace. Upstream [2] also can't help without it. As Thiemo said [3], it seems to be somehow related with the Kernel version (but again, I can't test as I don't have any machines where the problem is present). If you want to help/test, the test image can be obtained from [4]. The command that causes the failure: convert -geometry 22x22 -depth 8 -background none djvu.svg output.png [1] http://people.debian.org/~naoliv/misc/imagemagick/508443/strace.out [2] http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12688&p=42253#p42253 [3] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=33;bug=508443 [4] http://people.debian.org/~naoliv/misc/imagemagick/djvu.svg Thank you very much! Not in every case (like this one). The package is installable, but it's temporarily unavailable for i386 right now (it's waiting on incoming.debian.org and soon it should hit the Debian mirror that you are using). > I thought this was the right place to report. But this seems to be a > place where GIMP installed through Debian itself has bugs. Where do I > report packaging mistakes ? The Debian BTS is the right place to report problems that you find. But not every problem is a real problem :-) Packages uploaded to unstable and experimental may have a delay to be fully available (since they need to be built and uploaded). You are hitting this problem because gimp-data is an arch "all" package (it doesn't need to be built for every arch that Debian supports), while gimp needs to be built. Bug#338109: This bug is not grave
severity 338109 normal thanks Hi! The first example from http://www.imagemagick.org/script/composite.php (the one with a smiley and a rose) isn't working, but the second one is working normally. What I saw is: If you just run "composite foo.png bar.png output.png", it won't merge the images (that is the first example of this page). But running "composite -compose src-over foo.png bar.png output.png", for example, it will merge foo.png over bar.png and create output.png. [1] I don't know if there is something wrong with the first example or with imagemagick, but it's working (thus this bug is not grave). Bug#405268: NMU diff
Hi! Yes, I was wrong. And Laurent was almost right on adding a build-depends on file. :-) tcptrace uses debmake to builds the package, BUT, it's not declaring a build-depends on it. Including a build-depends on debmake fix this bug (since it depends on file). (I know that it's deprecated to use debmake to build a package, but NMU changes are only targeted to fix important things. Updating the package to use another build system doesn't fit on a NMU (my opinion)). Below is my NMU diff that I will upload. Thank you! Bug#390260: xpad: Losing information if using bold, italic, etc.
Package: xpad Version: 2.11-2 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss Hi! Today I've lost some informations that were on some notes of xpad. What I saw is that if using bold, italic or other kind of text format, xpad will lose that information. For example, a note with: - info1 - info2 - info3 - info4 - info5 After formatting some infos: - info1 bold- info2/bold italic- info3/italic strikethrough- info4/strikethrough - info5 Then I quit from WindowMaker (I left the notes open). I know that the text was written correctly, because I saw this by opening the file on console, before starting WindowMaker again. Entering on WindowMaker, xpad doesn't open automatically (if not using any kind of formatting, it opens perfectly). Running manually xpad I just see this on the note: - info1 - info2 "info2" is not bold anymore and I lost info3, info4 and info5. Thank you very much! Bug#362319: Bug 362319
Hi! Well, this package is available only on unstable now. It was removed from testing because it was failing to build. http://packages.qa.debian.org/k/kernel-patch-powerpc-2.4.27/news/20060608T210817Z.html If it's not in testing, it won't be included on the next version of Debian (when it is released). People who use unstable know that some packages can break their system or some packages are not ready yet or there are unusable packages, etc. Because all this, I think that the severity can be set to normal. Just my opinion. Best regards, Nelson -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#347073: A new problem
Hi! As suggested by the xlibs-split-check script, the new dependencies are: libx11-dev, libxpm-dev, libxt-dev, x-dev However, I could not test if it's right. After changing the depends and trying to compile it on a clean chroot, using pbuilder, I just got a lot of error messages, saying "exception handler failed to define predicate pce:get/3". It look like some internal error from swi-prolog. Attached is my pbuilder log, if it can helps. I did a CTRL+C after I saw too much error messages. I hope that this can help you. It first installs gcc-4.0-base. This packages contains the changelog.Debian.gz and also the copyright file (that is missing too, when upgrading). If we have all packages on version 4.0.2-5 and we install *just* gcc-4.0-base from version 4.0.2-6, the changelog.Debian.gz is there. So, the problem is not on this package. The problem is on libstdc++6! libstdc++6 from version 4.0.2-5 has the files (an other too): -rw-r--r-- root/root 27904 2005-09-17 12:36:48 ./usr/share/doc/libstdc++6/co pyright -rw-r--r-- root/root53 2005-12-01 22:10:32 ./usr/share/doc/libstdc++6/RE ADME.Debian -rw-r--r-- root/root 62788 2005-12-01 17:08:04 ./usr/share/doc/libstdc++6/ch angelog.Debian.gz BUT: # ls -l /usr/share/doc/libstdc++6 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Jan 7 02:11 /usr/share/doc/libstdc++6 -> gcc-4.0-base So, actually, it installed the files on /usr/share/doc/gcc-4.0-base, and not on /usr/share/doc/libstdc++6 I am doing all this on my machine, using packages from version 4.0.2-5 Going back to our analysis of what happens on the install: gcc-4.0-base installs all the files correctly. When libstdc++6 is going to be installed, it first removes the old files (including changelog.Debian.gz and copyright), and after that, installs the new ones, right? So, it removes changelog.Debian.gz and copyright that was installed from gcc-4.0-base. Since libstdc++6 from version 4.0.2-6 doesn't include those files anymore, we end with a system without changelog.Debian.gz and copyright. Am I right? (Or not?) I hope I could help and that I was clear. Best regards, Nelson
Bug#346171: gcc-4.0-base: Not installing changelog.Debian properly
Package: gcc-4.0-base Version: 4.0.2-6 Severity: serious Justification: Non native packages must provide changelog.Debian (section 12.7) Hi! Today, after upgrading the packages cpp-4.0 g++-4.0 gcc-4.0 gcc-4.0-base from version 4.0.2-5 to 4.0.2-6, I saw that there was no changelog.Debian.gz file on /usr/share/doc/gcc-4.0-base Discussing on #debian-devel (some people had the same issue) and after some investigation, I saw this: I downloaded the package gcc-4.0-base_4.0.2-6_i386.deb and saw that the changelog.Debian.gz file is there. "aptitude reinstall gcc-4.0-base" installed the missing changelog.Debian.gz Downgrading to revision 4.0.2-5 all the packages, I saw that there was a changelog.Debian.gz there (/usr/share/doc/gcc-4.0-base/changelog.Debian.gz) Dist-upgraded again, installed all packages with version 4.0.2-6, and again, no changelog.Debian.gz Looking at this, it's clear that there is something not OK on the upgrade 4.0.2-5 --> 4.0.2-6. I don't know if the problem is on cpp-4.0, g++-4.0, gcc-4.0 or gcc-4.0-base, so I am reporting it against gcc-4.0-base. Thank you very much!
