Bug #782838 [udisks2] udisks2-inhibit mount move fails
Marked Bug as done

Still fails for me:

root@cyberpower2:/home/njh# gparted
mount: bad option. Note that moving a mount residing under a shared
   mount is unsupported.

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
   dmesg | tail or so.
root@cyberpower2:/home/njh#

dmesg | tail gives:

[423325.716300] systemd-fstab-generator[18284]: Mount point was is not a
valid path, ignoring.

-Nigel

PS - "was is not" - what does that mean? Also the message doesn't say
which mount point is not valid so you can't fix it.

Can you clarify from which version to which other version you have

The version is now 1:9.9.5.dfsg-4.1 . I updated today from what ever the
previous version was. I looked in dpkg.log, but did doesn't say (or I
couldn't work out from it) what the previous version was, but I always keep
it up to date so it will have been whatever the previous released version
was.

Which version would be best to downgrade to?

Thanks for the additional information provided.

Ok, from the version number, it seems you are not running stable, and
are on unstable. If you downgrade back to 1:9.9.5.dfsg-4 dissapear?
This sounds like #762838

If so, could you follow up there? #735190 was about "CVE-2014-0591: A
Crafted Query Against an NSEC3-signed Zone Can Crash BIND".

I downgraded, it it's now been running for an hour or so without
crashing. The command I ran was:

 aptitude install bind9=1:9.9.5.dfsg-4

After doing the instructions on http://wiki.debian.org/FlashPlayer for
Debian 5.0 amd64 it works. But then if you do "deborphan" you're
erroneously told that ia32-libs-workaround-499043 and libswfdec-0.8-0
are no longer needed.

Looks like I spoke too soon. This morning the monitor looks, well

turn the machine off/on.

So it's all still broken in the new version, though at least X no longer

Hi,

I just tested on a lenny installation with the same version and I can
read such files without problems (and 178MB is not a large file, this
should be no problem for the Linux NFS server).

Are you sure this is not a different problem, like a networking problem

Bug#505446: mlocate always creates empty database

These lines in /etc/fstab are the culprit: you are bind-mounting / on
top of /, and /home on top of /home. Since mlocate is configured to
prune bind mounts (PRUNE_BIND_MOUNTS="yes" in updatedb.conf), and the
root directory is a bind mount, *everything* gets prunned.

I have no idea why would your system be doing such thing. You should
investigate why those lines are there and/or remove them or,
alternatively, set PRUNE_BIND_MOUNTS="no" in your updatedb.conf).

Where should I start investigating. Debian installs a *lot* of software
and I wouldn't

even know where to begin.

Hope this helps; in the meantime, I'm marking this bug as closed.

Why? Clearly there's a bug somewhere!!!

Bug#505446: mlocate always creates empty database

2008-11-20 Thread Nigel Horne

Can you send your /etc/fstab too? I'm curious whether the / bind mount
is defined there, or some script is doing it on their own.

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.

You have your / and /home mounted onto itself + you have automount on
/net and /smb. This is not part of the a standard installation.
Either you have it by accident in your fstab or a chroot mount script
went wrong. I guess the latter.

Does your /proc/mounts contain a line like

|tmpfs / tmpfs rw,size=10240k,mode=755 0 0

? If so, than this is a *valid* bind mount.

No it doesn't.

and your root is bind mounted. Your setup may be be broken somehow. I
guess your / mount point is twice in /etc/mtab with ext3 and with a bind
mount. Once you get rid of this, your mlocate will work again.

Do you have a special fstab, initrd hooks or something else that would
explain it? Maybe it is a leftover from an earlier install and will work
once you remove that line.

Is that a Hurd bug or do you have resource constraints?

It works fine on my amd64 system. Can you run as root:

and send strace.log by mail? (Compress it if it's big, please.)

Attached (not compressed, it's not that big!)

Thanks,

Bug#505446: mlocate always creates empty database

Package: mlocate

Justification: renders package unusable

/usr/bin/updatedb.mlocate always creates an empty database:

I thought you said wodim -scanbus didn't work? Looks to me like it
worked.

It doesn't work:

packard:/home/njh# wodim -scanbus
wodim: No such file or directory.
Cannot open SCSI driver!
For possible targets try 'wodim --devices' or 'wodim -scanbus'.
For possible transport specifiers try 'wodim dev=help'.

Are you a member of the cdrom group?

1) Where do I get the SCSI driver and why can't it open it?
2) Why is it asking me to try wodim --devices when it knows that's what
I'm using?

wodim -scanbus does exactly the same thing.

Bug#477440: phpbb3: After install all I get is Sorry but this board is currently unavailable.

2008-04-23 Thread Nigel Horne
Package: phpbb3
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After doing "apt-get install phpbb3" I restarted apache2 as advised.
Nothing says what to do next so I hunted and found in conf.d to point
my browser to .../phpbb which I did. All I get is
"Sorry but this board is currently unavailable.". No clues or hints on
how to make it available.

I click on "login" and am asked for a username and password, but none of
the installation procedure asked me to enter them (it only asked me
for the MySQL username/password). So I'm now stumped.

Not necessarily. 127.0.0.1 is the network loopback device, so *any*

will show as 127.0.0.1 in the squid log, not just squid-prefetch as you

It is running now, without dying. I haven't replied because it's now being
hammered by my search engine's spider - and I want to wait and see if it
stays up during that.
