Bug#614373: wget: mixes dpatch and 3.0 (quilt) | wget: diff for NMU version 1.12-2.2

2011-03-17 Thread Noèl Köthe
Hello Filippo,

Am Mittwoch, den 16.03.2011, 21:17 +0100 schrieb Filippo Rusconi:

the previous message which I sent by error is a mishap for two reasons:

 - The upload was not performed, contrary to what is stated in the
 message;

 - The first item of the debian/changelog file in the diff was
 incorrect from the very start.

Noèl, if you were to agree, I am eager to prepare a new patch in order
to fix the mishap in one go. I would not be able to upload the package
but could provide you with the files in some way.

Go ahead. I will work on the wget package in April but the earlier a bug
is fixed the better.

Bug#507865: openoffice.org-writer: OOo 2.4.x openinig OOo 3 files doesn't show text (2.x implements standard wrong)

2008-12-05 Thread Noèl Köthe
Hello together,

Am Freitag, den 05.12.2008, 09:40 +0100 schrieb Rene Engelhard:

 Rene Engelhard wrote:
Now the problem is that data exchange from 3.0 to 2.x results in documents
with blanked text so the user will not see the data of the text.

But only when the text was formatted as hidden if I read the issue right?

No. OOo 3 writes the attribute display:text='true' (so the text is
visible) in the document. This is correct ODF standard.
OOo 2 has the problem that it uses this option the oposite way. Files
with the ODF standard correct display:text='true' will be hidden text.
The result is:
If you save a visible text in OOo 3 then this will be hidden in OOo 2
and if you save a hidden text in OOo 3 then this will be visible in OOo
2.
OOo 3 fix this then opening OOo 2 files so the problem with reverted
option display:text is not visible there.

   The solutions afaik:

   1. release OOo 3.0 in lenny :)

I doubt -release will accept that, they didn't even accept 2.4.2 (which I
  do understand)

And I'd not put 3.0 into lenny, we would have to wait for 3.0.1.

   2. OOo 2.x needs a patch which fixes the import of OOo 3.0 files with
   the correct
interpretation of display:text=. Sadly upsteam/a upstream developer wrote
   in
   http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96878 that they will not
   fix it
   (or tend to this).:(

I wouldn't have expected anything else.

And I definitely won't be able to fix it.

IMHO this is a very big problem. Giving our users OpenOffice.org in
version 2.x which cannot read OOo 3 files correctly for the next 2 year
where the rest of the world will use OOo 3 files our users might tend to
dislike this.:(

I prefer to put OOo 3.x into lenny because this is IMHO the major
desktop application for alot of users.

Bug#426396: libgnash0 depends on unavailable libcurl3-gnutls

You have to fix the (build) dependency to libcurl4-gnutls-dev

The package is supposed to be actually depending on libcurl4-gnutls-dev

 libkonq4-dev, libcurl4-gnutls-dev | libcurl3-gnutls-dev | libcurl4-openssl-dev

It might be a problem of that binary package?

You have to remove the libcurl3 build-deps.
it looks like you built the package and it was build with
libcurl3-gnutls-dev so the binary package has the dependency
libcurl3-gnutls which cannot be fullfiled in sid.

You see the dependency problem also on the webpage:

Bug#386499: Patch for Bug #386499 in python-samba

I'm not personnally in the poisition nor have the skills to decide
about your patch, but probably other samba pkg team members, namely
Peter Eisentraut, Noel Köthe (who are also working in a BSP this
week-end) and Steve Lan,gasek, will certainly take the good decision
 about this bug.

I think its OK (just in line 51 and 53 there is no change, only
whitespace) and Peter discussed this with Patick yesterday (we 3 are all
at the BSP in Jülich).
There will be no NMU for this afaik and it we would commit it into the
svn if Steve agree that this is OK.

...

This is only for updates from versions before 3 (woody 2.2.x to sarge
3.0.14a). This doesn't happen from sarge to etch because we will upgrade
vom 3.0.14a to 3.0.23|4.
So the tag sarge is correct and we don't have to work on this for
etch.
There will be no work done to fix this because nearly all user already
upgraded.
AFAIK this bug will be left open until etch is released, then this sarge
bug will be closed.

Steve, Christian do you agree with this, or should we change the
severity, or close it , or do something else?

Yes. The build daemons had these problems, too.

Bug#323099: License of wget.texi: suggest removal of invariant sections

Am Montag, den 12.06.2006, 15:17 -0700 schrieb Don Armstrong:

Hello Hrvoje and Mauro,

I understand and agree with the reasoning behind removing the GPL as
the invariant section; but why also remove the GFDL as an invariant
  section?

That's just because having the GFDL as an invariant section is a null
op; the GFDL itself already requires that it be included, and no one
can change it anyway (save from going to a later version if your
copyright statement allows it.) If it were to stay as an invariant
section, I don't think it would cause a problem for Debian, but I
really don't see any reason from your perspective to do so.

I suggested removing them both because I figured if you were to modify
it at all, you may as well just modify it once.

Thanks for working with us on this issue!

I checked 1.11 alpha1 and svn trunk but both are still there. Do you
already have decided to remove GFDL from this section, too?
Just for your info and not to hurry you:
Debian will start freezing in Jul and because wget is an important part
I want to have it resolved before.:)

Thank you.

 its non-freeness.

Don explain the problem of this part of wget-1.10.2/doc/wget.texi to me,
so its not a problem of the GFDL license itself on the documentation but
the problem of this text in the file:

Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify this document

any later version published by the Free Software Foundation; with the

Back-Cover Texts. A copy of the license is included in the section
entitled ``GNU Free Documentation License''.
(its twice in the file)

Without these parts the problem/bug would be solved.

We tried to clarify this point on debian-legal without success.
The same license was rejected by ftp-master so there is something wrong

Note that this is in wget-1.9.1-12 after debian/rules build. The bug
was introduced in a security patch. wget-1.10 does not have the same

Yes. this is sadly correct.
I discussed this with the Brandon at Debconf. Until there is no official
Debian statement to this license I cannot argue/discuss this problem
with upstream. I have the same problem like you in your bug report. The
concrete statement is missing and until then nothing has to be done.
Until there is no statement its not RC.
