Bug#373899: Corrections

2006-07-25 Thread Peter Köllner

The cupsys version is of course 1.2.1-4 and not 1.2.4.
udev version is 0.093-1
kernel is 2.6.17.6

I looked a bit closer at the behaviour today. When I switch on the
printer, usblp module is loaded and the device /dev/usb/lp0 is created
with access rights drw-rw root lp.
When I print a test page from the cupsys admin webpage on
hp:/usb/hp_color_LaserJet_2550_series?serial=00CNFDD05275, I get "open
print channel failed" and /dev/usb/lp0 vanishes immediately.

Bug#373899: me too

2006-07-24 Thread Peter Köllner

Hi!

My USB printer does not print under linux for several weeks now. I tried
the latest package cupsys 1.2.4 today but still got nothing. As a side
effect, for some unknown configuration quirk I have two printers installed
now:

lpstat -a -v

device for hp_usb_hp_color_LaserJet_2550_series:
hp:/usb/hp_color_LaserJet_2550_series?serial=00CNFDD05275

device for HPColorLaserJet2550L: usb:/dev/usb/lp0
device for PDF: cups-pdf:/

Funny thing is I don't have a /dev/usb directory anymore, only
/dev/bus/usb... ?!? But other USB devices like keyboard and mouse are
working fine.

In the admin console I see the following status lines:

hp_usb_hp_color_LaserJet_2550_series (Standarddrucker) "open print channel
failed; will retry in 30 seconds..."

HPColorLaserJet2550L "Printer not connected; will retry in 30 seconds..."

The only workaround I found was saving the files to a FAT32 partition on
an external HDD, rebooting to windows and printing there, which is very
time-consuming.
