Bug#1082297: gnome-shell: Crashes gdm on startup

2024-09-19 Thread Mourad De Clerck

On 9/19/24 20:45, Jeremy BĂcha wrote:

Could you try plugging in a keyboard and see if that avoids the issue?

Yes, makes no difference.

If you revert to using gjs 1.80.2-1 from Unstable/Testing, does that
avoid the issue?

Also makes no difference.

However, I managed to find a way to workaround and reproduce it:

I moved the dconf settings in /var/lib/gdm3 (the Debian-gdm user's home)
aside, and restarted gdm. This made it work again.

Next, I enabled the OSK in the greeter's accessibility menu. On restart
it crashed again. So it seems having the OSK enabled in gsettings/dconf
when gdm starts makes it crash.

Bug#1082297: gnome-shell: Crashes gdm on startup

2024-09-19 Thread Mourad De Clerck
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 47.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Upgrading Gnome-Shell to 47.0 makes GDM crash on boot. I've got almost the
exact same set of packages (& versions) installed on two other machines that
don't exhibit this issue.

Two things are specific for the crashing machine, not sure if it's relevant:

* It uses systemd-homed - but that shouldn't come into play I think because it
crashes even before I can attempt to log in.
* It doesn't have a keyboard, so the OSK usually pops up in GDM.

Yep, that's it for me too. Seems I created this file on 2012-10-03, so a
4-year old workaround broke the update to 3.22. Thanks for the hint!

Bug#786359: librfilter-ruby1.8: missing the actual rfilter library

2015-05-20 Thread Mourad De Clerck
Package: librfilter-ruby1.8
Version: 0.12-2.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello,

I just upgraded a server using the rdeliver package to jessie, and noticed
rdeliver was failing. Turns out it was trying to require this library, and
failing at it because the package is (I'm guessing since the NMU of #722366)
empty.

As it is, both rdeliver and this package are unusable in jessie and sid.

Thanks,

Bug#714279: fontconfig-config: Not correct view anti-aliasing fonts and incorrect visualization.

2013-07-08 Thread Mourad De Clerck

I can confirm Matthew's fix is working for me.

I didn't have 11-lcdfilter-default.conf nor 10-subpixel-rgb.conf linked
or enabled, so all I needed to do is change "append" to "assign" in
10-autohint.conf to get back to font rendering that didn't make my eyes
spontaneously self-combust.

My eyes thank you Matthew,

2011-03-15 Thread mourad
Package: gtk2-engines-oxygen

Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Hi,

I've got a big problem with that theme !
it works well most of the time, but with eclipse Helios (3.6 r2), X server
crash !

To reproduce :
Install a stock version (for me in 64bits) from http://www.eclipse.org
Apply oxygen theme,
launch eclipse (accept the defaul workspace),
click right in project view and try to access to a sub menu...
The X server would restart killing you session !

Bug#602078: linux-image-2.6.36-trunk-amd64: Wake-up does a full restart !

2010-11-01 Thread mourad
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.36-1~experimental.1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Hi,

This is happening since the 2.6.35 from experimental (regression in power
managment code ?).

Most of the time (about 80%), if the system goes to standby mode, when I want
to turn it back in normal mode, a full reboot happen !

No log, nothing special !

I don't know how to trace that problem, but it is running well into 2.6.34
kernel.

Regards

Mourad

Bug#585477: mysql-server-5.1: mysqld can't start [initgroups()] with libnss-mysql enabled

2010-09-09 Thread Mourad De Clerck
Hi,

just wanted to mention that I'm using libnss-mysql and mysql
5.1.47-1~bpo50+1 without problems. Maybe there's something else in your
configuration that's causing the problem?

Please can you try to run cryptsetup manually with --debug and post output?

I don't understand why, but after upgrading again to the same (latest)
version of cryptsetup, I can't reproduce this issue. Maybe my initramfs
was somehow badly created the first time around, or there was some
interaction with another dependency. Either way, the problem seems gone.
Sorry for the noise.

Bug#585378: cryptsetup: segfaults on boot (on powerpc)

2010-06-09 Thread Mourad De Clerck
Package: cryptsetup
Version: 2:1.1.2-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

cryptsetup asks the password for the root (luks) partition and proceeds to
segfault. After which it asks the password again. Critical because it made
this laptop unbootable. I repaired it with another powerpc laptop, "target
mode" and chroot. It's a bit tricky to figure out what's going on this early
in the boot, and I'm a bit loath to upgrade to the current version of
cryptsetup again. However, if I can help in any way, let me know.

Kind regards,
