(MCid) Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-8.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_PACKAGE autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-Spam-Level: Package: cacti Version: 0.8.6c-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Upgrading to the experimental version makes cacti unusable after updating. The update process described in the docs use the /install directory of the cacti installation. The install fails while including ../include/config.php (located at /usr/share/cacti/site/include/config.php) on the filesystem. The failure occurs on the ereg_replace() function on lines 40 and 41, php exiting with an error on mb_ereg_replace() (premature ending of regular expression). The error can be fixed changing the value of "mbstring.func_overload" from 7 to 0 on the php.ini. That setting makes php use mb_ereg_replace() to handle ereg_replace() calls. mb_ereg_replace() is a multibyte ereg_replace(). The mbstring.func_overload setting overloads all functions with mb_* similars. Changing this setting can break compatibility with php scripts that uses multibyte encodings. Cacti should be prepared to use either function. Changing the setting from 7 to 0 makes php use the normal functions and the update process occurs without further problems. Maybe that problem occurs only on different locales. The current locale of the machine where the error ocurred is "pt_BR.ISO-8859-1". -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.1001052005 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages cacti depends on: ii apache2-mpm-prefork [apache2] 2.0.53-5 traditional model for Apache2 ii debconf 1.4.30.11 Debian configuration management sy ii libapache2-mod-php4 4:4.3.10-8 server-side, HTML-embedded scripti ii libphp-adodb 4.52-1 The 'adodb' database abstraction l ii logrotate 3.7-2 Log rotation utility ii mysql-client 4.0.23-7 mysql database client binaries ii php4 4:4.3.10-8 server-side, HTML-embedded scripti ii php4-cli 4:4.3.10-8 command-line interpreter for the p ii php4-mysql 4:4.3.10-8 MySQL module for php4 ii php4-snmp 4:4.3.10-8 SNMP module for php4 ii rrdtool 1.0.49-1 Time-series data storage and displ ii snmp 5.1.2-6 NET SNMP (Simple Network Managemen ii ucf 1.14 Update Configuration File: preserv ii wwwconfig-common 0.0.42 Debian web auto configuration -- debconf information excluded --------------------------------------- Received: (at 298102-close) by bugs.debian.org; 5 Mar 2005 05:23:55 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Mar 04 21:23:55 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from newraff.debian.org [208.185.25.31] (mail) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1D7Rla-0006Jy-00; Fri, 04 Mar 2005 21:23:55 -0800 Received: from katie by newraff.debian.org with local (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1D7RfU-00022i-00; Sat, 05 Mar 2005 00:17:36 -0500 From: sean finney <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.55 $ Subject: Bug#298102: fixed in cacti 0.8.6c-3 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Archive Administrator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sat, 05 Mar 2005 00:17:36 -0500 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-Spam-Level: X-CrossAssassin-Score: 2 Source: cacti Source-Version: 0.8.6c-3 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of cacti, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: cacti_0.8.6c-3.diff.gz to pool/main/c/cacti/cacti_0.8.6c-3.diff.gz cacti_0.8.6c-3.dsc to pool/main/c/cacti/cacti_0.8.6c-3.dsc cacti_0.8.6c-3_all.deb to pool/main/c/cacti/cacti_0.8.6c-3_all.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached.
