Bug#310982: does this affect etch/sid?

This bug seems to be full of discussion of sarge, and was closed until
3.0.14a-4 didn't make the cut for sarge. Does it also affect etch and
sid? If not, could you close it for those, so we can stop tracking it as
a security issue for them?

The proper fix for this bug needs to be in the kernel; the changes made to
samba were an expedient (but not expedient enough for sarge) workaround only.
So yes, it does still apply to etch/sid; it is a kernel issue, and among
other things will affect anyone building samba from non-Debian sources.

I believe that this is a 2.4.27 bug. 2.4.27-11, the sid version,
still has this bug. I am still looking for someone to test or
comment on the patch I posted. Though I am tempted to put it
into 2.4.27-12 untested.
