fully reproducible.

Reproducible on sarge with ion2. It starts, I sub-second get to see a
bit of what I guess is supposed to be the main screen, and then gnome
kicks in and notifies me the application quitted unexpectedly. strace
didn't give me anything useful, a lot of networking activity and it
looks like a normal exit from their (no SIGSEGV or something).

everything. After a second reinstall, I was able to launch dasher from
an xterm. I closed it, but it crashed again when I started it from run
(F3) and it crashed too the second time I tried to launch it from an
xterm.
