For the record, the library is entirely LGPL, except for one file: 
libgnomevfs/gnome-vfs-mime-monitor.c
Upstream is trying to relicense this file as soon as possible but some
copyright holders are currently unreachable.

The daemon and some plugins are licensed under the GPL.

Indeed. This isn't a problem for the SMB method as it is only a plugin,
but it requires clarification in the copyright. However, there seems to
be GPL code in the daemon as well. I'll ask upstream about that.
