Did you find some time to investigate this and find out whether
runtime detection of io engine might be possible for rageircd?

Greetings

Bug#381065: rageircd: FTBFS on Alpha

2006-08-01 Thread Marc Haber
Package: rageircd
Severity: serious
Tags: help

http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=rageircdver=2.0.1-5arch=alphastamp=1151881060file=logas=raw

Configure fails on the alpha buildd which still runs a 2.4 kernel.
Packages need to compile on a 2.4 kernel.

Alasdair, if you're reading this - is there any possibility to _build_
an epoll-based rageircd on a 2.4 system? There is no need to run the
binary there, it only needs to build.

Greetings
Marc

Possibly.

It would need to link against libepoll - if you put libepoll into
your userspace and change your PATH, it may work...

The autoconf script should detect libepoll on 2.4 systems but I think
it was broke in pre-2.0.2 builds

Check CVS for the autoconf patch??

It looks like there is no libepoll package in Debian.

Squid seems to have the same issue, and they think that it is possible
to look for the select method at run time. See
