Bug#391468: gatos obsolete?

2006-10-20 Thread Benjamin Mesing
Hello,

so let me get things straight: the TV-software in the gatos package
works only with the original gatos drivers? Somehow the description gave
another impression.

while fixing #391468 the question was raised, whether gatos has been
merged into X.org 7 and could be dropped.

Some parts of it have been merged, basically TV-in AFAIK. But I don't
have any first hand experience with this.
Yes, I believe so.
From looking at my /var/log/Xorg.log file the it is the theatre chip
responsible:

So now Radeon AIW TV-in is supposed to work using Xvideo capable TV
applications, right?

I have tried kdetv which reproducable froze my *whole* system. Xawtv
showed the typical TV noise, but since it failed to bring up the options
and channel-select window, I was unable to test any further. But those
are issues for another bug report..

Btw. if anyone could recommend another Xvideo aware TV application I
would be very glad.

Regards

Ben
