This bug has already been fixed. _PLEASE_ look at the list of recently
closed bugs before filing new ones. Also, please make sure you use the
latest version of the package. 2.2.3-2 was uploaded almost a week ago.

For unknown reasons, the system attempted to install 2.2.3-1 instead of
2.2.3-2 for apache2.2-common, even though I'd done an update on Sunday
evening, about 8 PM CT to make certain I had the latest packages. (It did
successfully install the apache2 2.2.3-2 package.) I've just checked my
/var/cache/apt/archives directory, and it contains the 2.2.3-1 package. I
do not understand what happened.

I have just tested this. apache2.2-common 2.2.3-2 loaded, and now apache2
fails to run, silently -- it won't start at all. I suspect another
dependency error -- here it is. In part, the apache2.2 common requires that
I enable mod_authn_files as a separate module in order to user AuthUserFile.

And now the server is up and running, but the server offers to download PHP
files instead of running them. There's some very squirrely stuff in these
updates. If you want more bug reports, please let me know.

Regards,
 Moshe

Bug#391864: apache2.2-common: install fails because all mod-enabled packages test as invalid

2006-10-09 Thread Michael Guntsche

Hi,

I also had to enable several modules to get AuthUserFile
authentication working.

* auth_basic
* authz_user
* authn_file

After adding them and reloading apache2 authentication worked as
expected.

Kind regards,
Michael

Bug#391864: apache2.2-common: install fails because all mod-enabled packages test as invalid

2006-10-08 Thread Moshe Yudkowsky
Package: apache2.2-common
Version: 2.2.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

apache2.2-common again fails to install, this time with a different set of
errors.

I removed the mods-enabled/actions.load file, but then apache2 chocked on the
very next file with a similar error message.

I've attempted several different fixes, including for example removing
everything from the mods-enabled directory, but of course that causes
apache2.conf to fail to load as missing modules take their toll.

I am attempting to go backwards to the testing release, but I am being
thwarted even as I attempt to remove apache2.2-common and pin to the testing
release by similar errors.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.
