Bug#477440: phpbb3: After install all I get is Sorry but this board is currently unavailable.

2008-04-23 Thread Nigel Horne
Package: phpbb3
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After doing apt-get install phpbb3 I restarted apache2 as advised.
Nothing says what to do next so I hunted and found in conf.d to point
my browser to .../phpbb which I did. All I get is
Sorry but this board is currently unavailable.. No clues or hints on
how to make it available.

I click on login and am asked for a username and password, but none of
the installation procedure asked me to enter them (it only asked me
for the MySQL username/password). So I'm now stumped.

Hi Nigel,

Sorry but this board is currently unavailable.. No clues or hints on
 how to make it available.

The board is disabled on first install to prevent spammers going wild with it
right away.

I click on login and am asked for a username and password, but none of
the installation procedure asked me to enter them (it only asked me
for the MySQL username/password). So I'm now stumped.

I'm sorry that you're stumped, but the topmost section
of /usr/share/doc/phpbb3/README.Debian tells you which steps to take to
login.

I'm downgrading this to a wishlist to maybe ask the person installing the
board for admin credentials during installation.

cheers,
Thijs
