So did it for Carlos.
Can you two test
http://die-welt.net/~evgeni/desmume/desmume_0.8-2_i386.deb
or http://die-welt.net/~evgeni/desmume/desmume_0.8-2.dsc

Upstream gave me a patch which should catch the error and disable 3d
rendering instead of crashing.

Evgeni

It still failed for me (intel graphic card, amd64):

built from http://die-welt.net/~evgeni/desmume/desmume_0.8+svn1212-1.dsc

$ desmume
The program 'desmume' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'GLXBadContext'.
  (Details: serial 283 error_code 154 request_code 143 minor_code 5)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Miry

No thanks, that's enough info.
In the meantime, I talked to upstream and he says that the issue should
be fixed in SVN, so I built you a .deb, can you test it?

i915? Not the new intel one?

Sure thats the correct link? It's about transmission, the BT client,
not about desmume :)
Or did you compile with "--without-gtk"?

Mh... Do you run proprietary X drivers (ATI? Nvidia?)?
If so, could you try without? And offcourse try running desmume with
--disable-3d
