It's not very high on my TODO list to write a package-specific NEWS file that explains to users something that follows obviously from how conffiles work. Hi Steve, I have had the same trouble with upgrading a Debian sid system. Indeed modifying /etc/idmapd.conf and using /run/rpc_pipefs instead of /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs fixed my rpc.idmapd issues for me. However, I think it would be good to be more transparent about this. To me it would make sense adding a NEWS file that informs about this necessary change.
