I don't think shipping multiple copies of freerdp is a workable
solution. This bug needs to be fixed ASAP, and FWIW I think the easiest
way to do that is to go back to older freerdp.
Problem with going back is: there are already packages which have been
built using the new GIT-based version and depend on features introduced
with that.
In the current state you cannot win , no matter what direction you move in.
If you go back you break those packages (like vlc) again (which will
need a sourceful upload to be fixed, as far as I can see) or you move
forward and resolve the remaining breakage, mainly in remmina.
