Thanks for patch.  I wrongly assumed you were one of the curl maintainers.  
The release team is considering if the change should be reverted, so I'm going 
to hold off on this for the moment, but I appreciate you putting it together 
so quickly.

I agree, but you should ask this the curl maintainers. :)
Looking at [0] it looks like some other packages are affected by that.

How many other packages did you break and did you coordinate this with the
