I have pushed the above commit in a separate branch called "buster" in
the repository so that we can get approval from the RT without the
superfluous docs changes.

I have opened an unblock request for this in #928092 and will upload the
fix as it stands in salsa once it's approved. The debdiff lives in that
unblock request as well.

I leave the broader question of what to do with youtube-dl in stretch,
jessie and, in general, in the long term as an exercise to the reader. :)

Bug#927862: youtube-dl: please update to 2019.04.24

2019-04-27 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Control: tags -1 + patch

Hi

I have pushed a change cherry-picking the upstream change to adress
this issue in
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/youtube-dl/commit/ab926e5dbeca04924d1628992210084e67368d25
.

Rogério, fine with doing an NMU or do you want to go ahead with a
maintainer upload? I think the additional commit done in the packaging
repo should be as well fine as it is documentation update on how to
import new versions.

Regards,
Salvatore

Does this affect stretch (2017.05.18.1-1), too?

It now doesn’t work at all any more, however, the upstream version does:

I’m sure you have a procedure in place to get freeze exceptions, too.
