I've filed an MR that fixes this bug here:

As I have a package that will be removed from testing next month if
this bug isn't closed I hope you'll take a look at it.

Failing that, it seems reasonable to NMU these changes in two weeks
since you're lowNMU uploader and this is an RC bug.
