Is this really wanted? And what do you gain from making them (== packages build-deping on java-gcj-compat-dev) unbuildable (on clean sids, and - more importantly - on the buildds)? no, it doesn't change anything, as the new gcj packages did conflict with the new java-gcj-compat. you yourself did point out that in an earlier bug report and did request that conflict. so things are not Correct. worse than before. Yes, not worse that what happened after your uploads anyway. Worse, thogh, than how you could have handled it. AFAIS, You could have uploaded gc{c,j}-4.2 end ecj. Wait for NEW. java-gcj-compat-dev so far didn't do stuff with gcj-4.2 so it would not have affected it. And after they got out of NEW do what you did (change the default g{i,c}j, upload gcc-defaults, java-gcj-compat-dev, etc and upload them...) No installability problems because something was in NEW, only temporary uninstallability until everyting is uploaded, built and available with the right versions. That's normal version-skew in unstable and not I uploaded something depending on something I know of that it isn't in sid. What happened though, is uploading something to unstable which is knowingly not installable and which will only be installable when ecj clears NEW - whenever that happens. (In which case I obviously and of course would not have filed a bug like #439670 but would have waited for the new versions being there - or fetching them from incoming if needed). Oh, and yes, i do not like the long NEW processing times at all, too, but that's not a reason to break all packages in sid build-depending on java-gcj-compat-dev if you can avoid it. Hi, Daniel Stenberg wrote: curl 7.17.0 breaks the build of openoffice.org. Rene has already found the cause, it is described below. Eh, no. curl 7.17.0 does *not* break this as you will see below. Incorrect. It breaks. As you say yourself. Is it only a formal error by the curl side or openoffice.org requires to be upgraded to the new API? The error code CURLE_FTP_USER_PASSWORD_INCORRECT has been moved to the list of codes that will be removed in the future, and thus it isn't present if you define CURL_NO_OLDIES when you build. So if you want backwards-compatible style you *don't* define CURL_NO_OLDIES and you can use that define fine still. If you define it, you should be prepared to edit some of the codes to the up-to-date versions. | g++ -fmessage-length=0 -c -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -DCURL_NO_OLDIES -I. So why do these guys explicitly switch off compatibility? This was done between 1.12 and 1.13 (so pre 2.0.0 beta even) of ucb/source/ucp/makefile.mk with the following in cvs log: revision 1.13 date: 2004/09/20 14:32:42; author: rt; state: Exp; lines: +3 -1 branches: 1.13.16; 1.13.66; INTEGRATION: CWS systemcurl1 (1.12.54); FILE MERGED 2004/09/20 14:17:24 cmc 1.12.54.1: #i34405# curl has changed its headers slightly The Issue URL is http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=34405 and it seems to be a part of a commit to fix builds with system-curl and which says: Description: Opened: Mon Sep 20 14:15:00 + 2004 Sort by: Oldest first | Newest first __ --with-system-curl and configure doesn't work with latest curl seeing as curl moved from CURLOPT_PASSWDFUNCTION being 66 to being 0 which was covered, and now its moved to -3 by default. You also claimed without making an exception that you still supported the options above. Which evidently is not true with -DCURL_NO_OLDIES You fiddled with the build so it breaks. You can mess it up in several other ways to make it break too. I don't see how that makes it libcurl's fault. You obviously haven't read my post. I didn't add that define. libcurl supports and works fine with the error code you say it doesn't work with. Not generally, no. As you said youself. You broke the build. Not libcurl. Accept that and stop throwing dirt our way. Read my last message again. I didn't. I even said I am just trying a build with that define removed (It just takes...). I just objected to you generalizing that the new curl does not break. It does when you use that define. That was not throwing dirt on your way but just a fact. I didn't say I objected to the analysis that that define was at ffault and I neither said I won't fix it by removing the define. Maybe you should actually read mails more careful. Upstream had an idea: --- snip --- IIRC, there's one piece on our patch which dealt with this, search for the class declaration of SQLException (and other exceptions): There, we replace CPPCONN_PUBLIC_FUNC with CPPCONN_PUBLIC_EXCEPTION, which ensures the proper export for those exception's type information. I assume you're building with-system-mysqlcppconn. I'd say you need apply some equivalent of this patch to your system-mysqlcppconn. Basically, CPPCONN_PUBLIC_EXCEPTION is defined as SAL_DLLPUBLIC_EXPORT, but not sure what this actually is for your compiler. Bug#566189: Bug #566189 on testing (i386)
Hi, On Thu, Feb 11, 2010 at 02:16:41PM +0100, Emmanuel Charpentier wrote: I have an (experimental) squeeze installation, which has been crippled by something suspiciously looking like this bug for a couple of weeks. If you mean lenny-backports, it will be in some days. Can someone suggest a workaround for squeeze users ? (No, I'd rather *not* go for unstable. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt...). Yes. Read -15s debconf message (which is a big part of the fix): _Description: Component registries might be corrupted You are upgrading from a version which might have corrupted service/component registry files (*.rdb), especially /var/lib/openoffice/basis3.1/program/services.rdb and the rdb files in /var/spool/openoffice/uno_packages/cache for installed extensions. . If you experience problems with the component manager or segmentation faults involving libstore in either unopkg or OpenOffice.org, please check these files. I only see some 30 in debconfs doc: Then after each go command, you must test to see if the user hit the back button, and if so jump back to the previous question. If the user hit the back button, the go command will return 30. There's no Back button here, so this is not relevant. Another fix is to check the return code of the input command. I am not sure I understand what you mean. Today I upgraded my system from squeeze and squeeze/updates, which included the oo version reported above. I checked that the crash behavior was still there and reported the bug. OK. And I never saw it because I simply don't use (and don't test under) KDE. What do you mean by not mark that as such? I migrated from lenny to squeeze some months ago (december, I guess), and the bug has been here since the migration. And you should have filed it there, or you should have marked it so that the BTS know it's in testing (aka.
