Bug#322030: marked as done (Woody CD images deserve to be more visible)

I searched for links to them, but was unable to find them, neither from http://www.debian.org/releases/woody/ or http://www.debian.org/CD/. It turns out they are still there, but hidden in: http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/archive/images/ As a few (sub)architectures were dropped for Sarge and for some older systems the new installer has its problems, installing Woody is an option that's useful and probably will be in the future. IMO the Woody images should be kept around (maybe not the full CD sets, but at least the bootable CDs) and visible from the Woody release pages and cdimage.d.o. Maybe a little HOWTO could be added as users will have to set their sources list manually after reboot if they want to avoid an upgrade to Sarge. pgpIqFzhKt1w5.pgp Description: PGP signature ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part. ---End Message---
Bug#570770: Debian Edu squeeze images
package: cdimage.debian.org severity: wishlist User: debian-...@lists.debian.org Usertags: debian-edu x-debbugs-cc: debian-...@lists.debian.org, Ronny Aasen ro...@skolelinux.no Hi, as discussed several times already we would like to build Debian Edu images with the same tools on the same box as the regular Debian images are build, and to make them available just like all the others. Debian Edu is currently available for i386, amd64 and powerpc, for our Lenny release we released three images: a double-layer source DVD (5.3GiB or so), a regular DVD for amd64+i386 and a combined netinst-cd type for amd+i386+powerpc. For Squeeze doing roughly the same seems sensible, though maybe an additional sid CD image would be nice. For setting it up and debugging problems, Ronny Aasen and me would like to get access to the machine to do the dirty work. Currently our build setup is managed in svn and we use a patched version of debian-cd. Obviously our goal is to get rid of the patches ;-) What VCS are you using, are you using one? ;) Do you have documentation? We have http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/HowTo/MagicCDBuild and our stuff is in svn://svn.debian.org/svn/debian-edu/trunk/src/build/CD-administrator Ronny is a long time Debian Edu contributor, developer, CD build master and ftp archive maintainer. He's sadly neither a DD nor DM (he claims it's because of this internet-meme called RL that he has no time for that..), his GPG key id is 0xEC91AE3A. (I would have sworn I've signed his key.) Assuming you like the idea, how to we proceed from here? cheers, Holger signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

[ Frans Pop ] * Adjust x86 boot scripts for new version (2.0) of framework in D-I for creation of syslinux configuration files. Essentially the new version is a backport of what was already implemented in debian-cd before the release of Lenny and allows a significant simplification. There are no significant changes in generated CD/DVD images. * Split out code for workaround for #505243 to x86-desktop function library. * sparc: display message for unsupported subarchitectures. * Only do boot disk stuff for x86 and alpha if the image is supposed to be bootable. Avoids downloading x86 D-I images for all 30+ CDs in a full set. * Don't download floppy D-I images for i386; they're no longer available. * Don't fetch D-I images for the prep subarchitecture; it is not available. * Add path when sourcing CONF.sh for compatibility with dash. Spotted by Ian Campbell. * Add console-setup to packages needed for D-I. . [ Steve McIntyre ] * Remove bashism in tools/apt-selection. Closes: #530972 . [ Ian Campbell ] * Add support for variants. A variant allows to include/exclude additional packages or D-I components relative to a regular image. * Add variant to create i386/amd64 images that support installing Xen guests. * Recognise and ignore Enhances: lines. * Create apt/preferences.d in APTTMP, keeps newer apt from printing a warning. . [ Raphaƫl Hertzog ] * Fallback looking for syslinux/silo/yaboot in $CODENAME when $DI_CODENAME didn't gave any result. This is useful when using partial mirrors built by simple-cdd while trying to build a Debian CD using a newer d-i (in my case etch CD with lenny d-i). * Use dpkg --fsys-tarfile instead of ar for extracting files from deb packages. The previous invocation could have failed for packages using something other than gzip compression. * Fix syntax errors in

Fixed. The problem was caused by ENOSPC on the build system. I ran the update-cd script several times before I spotted that, and each run added its own checksum. I should have seen this error. :-( -- Steve McIntyre, Cambridge, UK.st...@einval.com There's no sensation to compare with this Suspended animation, A state of bliss ---End Message---
