Fixed size image creation

2010-07-27 Thread Xavier Oswald
Hi,

Im using debian-cd for a custom debian distribution Im working on.

Debian-cd allow you to create CD and DVD image with fixed size. The point if I
well understand, is that after putting my peronnal packages on the iso,
debian-cd fill the rest of the disponible space with packages taken by priority
from popcon.

Im wondering if someone could give me some idea how I could disable the fact of
adding unnecessary software at the end of the iso generation.

What I want is to generate an iso image which contain only the packages in the
custom task I have added to tasksel.

thanks.
Greetings.

And now things have broken again for the image including firmware. :-(
Another option is to increase the size of the ISO a little, but we're
already very close to the limit of what will fit on a 650 MB CD.

I've suggested raising the CD size from 650 to 700 MB in the past and
people didn't like it, but that was quite a while ago. I can't find
any 650MB CD-R blanks available anywhere these days...

It will only fill from popcon order if you've asked it to, by
"#include " or by adding COMPLETE=1. What's in
your task file? Look at tasks/squeeze/* for examples of how we do
things.

Debian does NOT ship free CDs. Please do NOT contact the mailing

I have written a new CONF.sh and a new frontend to build.sh and have forgotten
to set the option COMPLETE=.. so I suppose that by default it is set to 1.

Now it works.

Thanks.

To download Debian ISOs

2010-07-27 Thread M Venkatapathy .
Hi all,

Could anyone tell me where I can find the Debian DVD ISo images
available for download via HTTP?

Currently I downloaded the DVD-1 from the below link:
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/5.0.5/ia64/iso-dvd/

I think this link is supposed to have all the 5 DVD ISOs, but has only one.

Thanks in advance.

Do you really have an Intel Itanium (ia64) computer? That one is very
rare. Most people wanting to install 64-bit Linux need the amd64
version, which also supports most current Intel 64-bit systems. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itanium
for the differences.

Try this link for the x86-64 processor:
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/5.0.5/amd64/iso-dvd/

Due to resource limitations only the most commonly needed Debian CDs and
DVDs are available for direct download. Your choices are explained more
fully here:
